The Time I Got Reincarnated As An Extra

Chapter 258 Her Loss [1]

258  Her Loss [1]

***

Katherine's eyes sprung open lightly as the cold air of the room numbed her cheeks.

Yawn!

Doing a light yawn, she sat up straight, stretching her arms to shake off the numbness and the lingering hold of the sleep over her.

Carefully, she took the blanket off of her and stood up, before setting it back, keeping in mind to not make any noise.

All because of a little girl who slept beside her, cutely cuddled up within the sheets as her small hands tightly clutched the edges of the blanket.

An attempt to shake off the cold.

A light sympathetic smile spread on her face as she saw the puffed up face of the little girl.

Leaning closer, she lightly swept the small strands in front of her face to the side, allowing her to breathe easy.

Once done, she did a few light stretches before heading over to the window.

Light cold flakes of snow danced in the air before falling down, joining down the blanket of white that covered the world as far as she could see.

A trace of happiness could be seen on Katherine's face as she opened the window.

Extending her hand outside, she lightly caught a snowflake on her finger.

A cold numbing feeling enveloped her whole arm but rather than shuddering, Katherine joyed in it.

Yes.

Katherine loved winters and snow.

It was also why she never kept her room warm, preferring to sleep cold.

She didn't even like blankets normally, but had them for the little angel that slept beside her on the bed.

Suddenly, streaks of crystal ice formed on her extended finger, heading towards the snowflake.

As the streaks touched the snowflake, slowly and with careful precision, Katherine started forming intricate patterns around the flake.

In a minute, she was finally done.

A happy smile spread on her face as she took it back and set it lightly beside her window frame.

Closing the window, she checked the time.

It was close to 5.

She needed to check up on him soon.

Heading to the shower, Katherine quickly flipped the switch.

And in a moment, droplets of cold freezing water enveloped her body, clearing her mind.

Both siblings preferred cold water, though their reasons for it were entirely different.

Staying in there for at least 20 minutes, Katherine finally stepped outside, her body wrapped in a white towel.

She quickly headed towards the dressing room.

Once inside, Katherine carefully got to choosing her dress.

She had never done this. For mainly two reasons.

One, whatever she picked, to people she always looked perfect and beautiful in it.

So she never put much thought into it.

Second, even if she wanted to dress herself, Katherine had no friends or any type of boyfriend that she had to impress.

So Katherine never saw the need to spend time on choosing her clothes for long.

She didn't like it either. The only important person she had in her life was her young brother.

Amon.

A smile spread on her face.

But today was a special day. The most special day of every year for Katherine.

And today, even if it took hours, she would spend her trying to choose the best dress for this day.

There was no day better than this day.

And just like she thought, Katherine spent an hour trying to find her dress.

It was just hard to choose one because of some reasons.

But finally, she did.

Coming out, Katherine looked at herself in the mirror.

Wearing a black high turtleneck complimented by a white pencil skirt, she wore knee-high see through black stockings that matched her black heels.

As a final addition, she topped it off with a black jacket that went well with her high neck.

A medium sized silver necklace hung from her neck, standing out with its silverish color on the black high neck.

She had chosen to set her hair free today, as they draped down over her shoulders like a waterfall.

Applying a moderate amount of makeup and eyeliner, Katherine finally took a good look in the mirror.

Once done, she saw that Lily had woken up.

Setting the little girl down on the ground, she dressed her up in the next hour.

Heading out the room, Katherine chose to skip breakfast for the day but she didn't forget to give the little girl her toasted bread slices covered in jam.

As Lily ate on the table, Katherine's eyes moved to a white door by the kitchen.

A happy smile spread on her face as her eyes lit up.

Her heels echoed against the floor as she reached the door and grabbed the knob.

A light chuckle escaped her lips.

"That idiot is probably still sleeping…" n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

A mischievous glint appeared in Katherine's eyes as she decided to play a little trick on him.

With a careful twist, Katherine silently opened the door.

But a pang of sadness and disappointment shot through her as she peeped inside.

The striped-grey blankets had been messily shoved aside on the bed, as if the owner had left in a hurry.

And well enough, as she peered inside, there was no one inside.

Just a messy room.

Katherine's happy smile almost turned to sadness for a moment but she shook her head.

'He was probably in a hurry. It's fine.'

Cheering herself up, Katherine headed inside.

She took the blanket from the bed and started folding it up.

A wave of nostalgia hit her as she was reminded of Amon's early days.

A little kid, always running around the apartment, seeking her and crying in her arms.

Setting down the blanket, she started placing the things in their spots.

The times when he used to throw things around, calling her out when he was annoyed.

Once done, Katherine started setting his bedsheet.

The times when he yelled at her and told her to die.

It was alright. The Amon from that time was just a kid.

Katherine gave a bright smile as she now looked at the clean room.

"Hehe."

'He owes me dinner for this. I'll ask him later.' She promised herself as she carefully closed the door.

Katherine looked at Lily, who was now done with her food.

"Shall we go?" She asked the little child who washed her hands and walked to her.

"Mnm." Lily nodded.

Grabbing her little fingers, Katherine was about to head for the door before she was reminded of something.

"Just a second."

Katherine headed to her room, quickly opening a nearby drawer.

She rummaged through the things with hurry, finding a glass bottle.

Taking it out, she quickly opened up the lid, throwing three pills in her palm.

But as she was about to throw them into her mouth, she suddenly stopped, being reminded of something.

She stared at the pills silently, her body urging her to take them.

It burned at her, her body begging for the pills in front of her.

But…

Katherine bit her lip, forcing a trail of blood to drown out the pain.

She threw away the two pills on the floor before closing the bottle and placing it back in the drawer.

Katherine looked in the mirror, right into her eyes.

There were obvious signs of stress and dark circles if one looked close enough…

But Katherine had taken care to mask them all.

She offered herself a smile in the mirror.

'Not today. Not for this week.' She promised herself.

Suppressing her last urges, Katherine quickly headed out her room.

Reaching the door, she grabbed Lily's hand again.

"Shall we go now?" She offered the little girl a smile.

Lily smiled back brightly.

Taking it as an affirmation, Katherine opened the door after carefully adjusting the gloves and cap of Lily for the last time.

She didn't want the little girl to have a cold.

Once outside, Katherine relished in the cold wind, enjoying the beautiful day in a long time today.

All because of one event.

'It's finally here.'

***

It was finally the day for the festival.

Amon quickly reached the main streets of the city, which were bustling with activity.

The day was just starting so people were just roaming about while others set up their stalls.

Amon received a message.

Opening it up, he saw it was Amelia.

[Amelia: Meet me in the club office at 11. Need to discuss some stuff before we can leave.]

A smile appeared on his face as Amon heaved a sigh.

Being Rank 1 didn't just give a person power…

It also came with a shit ton of responsibilities. Especially in an important event.

Nevertheless, he smiled. It was fine as they were with Amelia.

No, it was better for him.

He opened his watch and sent her a reply.

[Amon: Got it.]

Amon was about to send a message when he stopped.

To such a long message that took effort from her, he didn't want to text back with such a dry message.

He added a thumbs up emoji to her.

Smiling, he nodded.

"Yeah, this is good." It seemed much better and lively now.

And then he sent it.

But as he was about to move forward for his work today, he suddenly heard two voices in the back of his head.

[Simp.]

[Simp.]

'Shut up.'
