Chapter 105 Chapter 78: Jungle Sniper

105  Chapter 78: Jungle Sniper

Yan Fei's Drone Avatar was pinned down by an F-2 Fighter, unable to provide direct support for him. Moreover, the region here was already mountainous, with towering trees and numerous obstacles, which also impeded the Drone Avatar from pursuing and killing Ryoko Oogawa. Thus, he simply let the drone engage the last F-2 in the area while he personally went in pursuit of Ryoko Oogawa. If a sudden change of events occurred, he would call the drone for support.

The motorcycle carrying Ryoko Oogawa sped ahead, with Yan Fei closely following behind. Then, the road ahead entered a mountainous highway. The mountain highway was very narrow with many sharp curves and steep slopes. The skill of the motorcycle's pilot was not as adept as Yan Fei's, nor were his reactions as quick, which caused his speed to drop. Yan Fei, overjoyed, pressed on the motorcycle, eagerly chasing after, rapidly closing the distance between them. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Seeing this, the motorcycle's pilot disregarded the danger and forcefully increased his speed. Just when Yan Fei was about to further narrow the distance, two black sedans emerged on the road ahead, with several gun barrels protruding from the windows, opening fire on Yan Fei.

Yan Fei pulled up the motorcycle's front end, and it soared high into the air. While the motorbike was still aloft, Yan Fei flipped backward, leaping off the motorcycle. Mid-air, his hand produced several steel balls, and with a flick of his fingers, the balls shot out, hitting both car drivers squarely. The drivers' heads were burst open by the steel balls, and the cars immediately lost control, crashing into the mountainside beside the road and exploding violently.

It wasn't until this moment that Yan Fei gracefully landed on the ground. The motorcycle, however, fell off a cliff below, rendering it unusable. He moved a few steps closer to the burning cars and saw several people struggling painfully in the blaze. He flicked a few more steel balls, putting a swift end to their suffering.

It had been half a year since Yan Fei started practicing with the steel ball projectiles, but he hadn't quite mastered the technique, often making mistakes. However, after his trip to Africa and being spurred by the firepower of the US Army, he made great strides in his steel ball practice and finally reached the highest realm of "hitting wherever he aimed" before going to Japan. This first use of steel balls in combat displayed a high level of skill, giving his enemies an unexpected surprise.

Having dealt with the sudden car attack, Yan Fei found himself without transportation. Looking down onto the winding mountain road, he saw the motorcycle turning at a junction ahead and continuing along the highway below. With a fierce leap, he sprang high, landing atop a large tree. Then he ran quickly along the tree trunk and leaped to another, chasing after the motorcycle at a speed that was even faster than the vehicle on the ground.

Yan Fei leaped swiftly from treetop to treetop, taking a straight-line path, while the motorcycle on the road below moved in S-shaped bends. In no time, he had caught up with it on the road below.

Yan Fei snapped off a tree branch and tossed it toward the motorcycle. The branch whizzed through the air towards the motorcycle. Startled, the pilot dodged frantically, only to feel a searing pain in his arm—the steel ball bullet fired by Yan Fei had struck him, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. It tipped over, skidding across the ground for a considerable distance before hitting a rock and coming to a halt.

The distance between Yan Fei and the motorcycle was significant. The heavy branch could be thrown far, but it lacked accuracy. The lighter steel ball bullets, on the other hand, had trouble hitting the target at longer ranges. Yan Fei had aimed for the motorcycle pilot's back but ended up hitting his arm instead. Fortunately, he had finally forced the motorcycle to stop.

Yan Fei jumped down from the treetop and swiftly approached the motorcycle, only to see the pilot suddenly spring up, grab Ryoko Oogawa, and dash into the forest beside the road. At that moment, Yan Fei was some distance away, flicking steel ball bullets in rapid succession, none of which hit due to the great distance. Then they ran into the nearby forest, with Yan Fei following them into the woods to continue the chase.

The forest resembled a primitive jungle, dense with thorns, barely navigable. But the motorcycle pilot was no slouch; he ran swiftly through the forest, pulling Ryoko Oogawa along. Despite quickly sustaining numerous injuries, he didn't slow down. Meanwhile, Yan Fei pursued them through the air, leaping from one large tree to another, rapidly closing the gap between him, the motorcycle pilot, and Ryoko Oogawa.

Eyeing the figure of Ryoko Oogawa flickering through the gaps in the trees not far ahead, Yan Fei pushed himself towards a large tree in front. While still mid-air, a strong premonition suddenly arose within him. A bullet flew from a distance, and he twisted in the air to evade, but couldn't completely avoid it, feeling a sharp pain as his left shoulder was struck. The bullet's momentum carried him far backwards before he fell into a thorny bush on the ground.

As soon as Yan Fei landed, he felt an intense pain in his shoulder. He had been slightly careless, not expecting that a sniper would be hidden in this primeval forest, leading to him being hit. Fortunately, the bullet caliber wasn't large, and it had passed through his shoulder without remaining inside his body, mitigating the severity of his injury. His robust physique meant that while the wound was painful, it was far from crippling his combat power. He rolled over and stood up, continuing the chase towards the direction Ryoko Oogawa had fled.

Yan Fei became alert, so when the second bullet was fired, he successfully dodged it and then located the sniper shooter ahead. He spun around, abandoning the chase after Ryoko Oogawa, and instead lunged toward the direction of the sniper. In the primitive forest, if he didn't take out the hidden sniper, it would be extremely disadvantageous for him—he might lose Ryoko Oogawa and even risk his own life.

The sniper was a full five hundred meters away from Yan Fei, but such was Yan Fei's speed that he quickly approached the sniper's position. Seeing Yan Fei draw near, the sniper kept firing at him, but Yan Fei, now on guard, successfully evaded the shots by using the trees for cover, rendering the sniper bullets unable to hit him. Just as Yan Fei was about to reach the sniper, suddenly another bullet shot out from the side. With his high level of concentration, Yan Fei instantly detected the incoming bullet and smoothly dodged it.

It turned out that next to this sniper, there was another sniper position, hiding another marksman. This sniper was very cunning, having not attacked Yan Fei earlier but choosing to attack suddenly when Yan Fei was about to reach the first sniper, attempting a stealthy assault—only to still be discovered and evaded by Yan Fei.

Although Yan Fei had successfully dodged the second sniper's bullet, he could no longer stand up. The two sniper positions mutually covered each other, and the snipers' firing lines blocked all angles, preventing Yan Fei from getting any closer.

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, Ryoko Oogawa was about to disappear from Yan Fei's sight. He felt an urgent panic in his heart, but under the suppression of the two snipers, he could not afford to rise. He began to check the items stored in the Universal Space and saw several barrels of gasoline. An idea struck him, and he took out a barrel and hurled it toward the latter sniper.

That sniper had been closely monitoring Yan Fei's movements and, seeing something thrown, immediately fired a shot, piercing the object. Gasoline leaked out instantly. Yan Fei threw his lighter with a flick of his hand, igniting the gasoline mid-air. A streak of fire flashed through the air, then the flame fell to the ground, starting a raging fire. The sniper was wearing infrared equipment, which allowed him to spot Yan Fei in the dark. The sudden appearance of the fire caused his eyes intense pain, and then he became blind.

The other sniper suffered a similar fate, suddenly faced with blinding white light and rendered blind.

Yan Fei lunged forward, performing several rolls, and successfully got close to the first sniper. He saw the sniper frantically trying to remove the infrared device on his head. With a flick of his finger, a steel ball bullet shot into the sniper's forehead, killing him instantly. Moving forward, Yan Fei collected the sniper's rifle and bullets into the Universal Space, then headed toward the other sniper.

That sniper had been staring directly at the fire, so his eyes suffered more damage, and he had not recovered yet. Yan Fei pounced, lightly tapping the man's throat with his foot, and his entire throat was instantly crushed, killing him outright. Yan Fei again collected the sniper rifle and bullets and stored them in the Universal Space.

After taking out the two snipers, Yan Fei turned back and chased after Ryoko Oogawa with renewed vigor. Initially, the motorcycle pilot was leading Ryoko Oogawa out of Yan Fei's sight, but once Yan Fei started running quickly through the trees, the distance between them quickly closed.

Ryoko Oogawa was shocked to see Yan Fei catching up and forcefully pushed the motorcycle pilot behind her, then sped up her escape. The motorcycle pilot, shoved by Ryoko Oogawa, fell over on the ground, his face showing a mix of astonishment and disbelief. Yan Fei caught up and shot a steel ball bullet at the pilot, who, despite being quite strong himself, managed to dodge swiftly but not completely, getting hit in the thigh.

But the pilot was exceptionally fierce and took advantage of Yan Fei's attack, pouncing on him, attempting to pin Yan Fei harshly to the ground. However, he underestimated Yan Fei's strength. With a fierce punch to the pilot's back, the pilot screamed in pain, spitting out a mouthful of blood, but refused to let go. Yan Fei twirled around and threw the pilot off, causing him to smash against a large tree, then slumped to the ground, motionless.

After dealing with the motorcycle pilot, Yan Fei looked back, only to see Ryoko Oogawa had run out of the forest. Beyond the forest was a huge estate, surrounded by sentry posts with armed guards, looking heavily fortified. On the sign in front of the estate was written the bold characters for "Oogawa."

Yan Fei was taken aback. By the looks of this estate, it must be the Oogawa Family's headquarters. He didn't realize he had chased Ryoko Oogawa to this place; no wonder she was heading here. And nearby, there were two snipers hidden, apparently to guard the estate.
