You're My Only Star

As she walked into the kitchen, Song Xing Xing saw that Mr. Fluffball was sitting in the corner. The fat, gray cat was staring at her with a pair of aggrieved eyes.

Song Xing Xing glanced at Mr. Fluffball's bowl and saw that it was still full of kibbles. However, the cat refused to eat them.

"Meow!"

The cat blinked. Then, he turned his head towards the kitchen cabinet where his master would usually store his favorite wet food.

Looking at Mr. Fluffball's expression, Song Xing Xing immediately knew what he was thinking. However, when she thought about how this cat had betrayed her yesterday, Song Xing Xing decided to harden her heart.

Who asked him to pick an outsider's side?

As she thought of how Mr. Fluffball's sad look when Lu Xun was about to leave, Song Xing Xing grew angry again. 

"No. Mr. Fluffball, you're gaining weight too much. You need to start going on a diet."

"Meow!"

"Just eat your kibbles. You can't be choosy."

"Meow!" This time, the cat's voice sounded a little sad.

Song Xing Xing decided to ignore the cat's plea and headed to the living room. As she picked up her bag, she could see the cat walked out from the kitchen and continued to stare at her.

"Mr. Fluffball, I'm leaving now. If you behave, maybe I will consider giving you your favorite wet food."

The cat looked at his master and blinked. Then, he walked away to his apartment before Song Xing Xing left the house.

Mr. Fluffball definitely has some sort of dissatisfaction towards her. However, Song Xing Xing decided not to mind her cat's action. Today, she had another matter that she should worry about.

After locking up her door, Song Xing Xing walked over to the elevator. As she entered the elevator, Song Xing Xing began to recall her conversation with Lu Xun yesterday.

The man had said that he would be responsible for her safety. In another word, he was saying that before Bai Zhi was found, he had offered himself to be his driver and bodyguard.

She did not know how she had agreed to his words. But now that she thought about it, Song Xing Xing had a feeling as if she had been tricked.

Even if she will need someone to guard her, why would Lu Xun have to do it personally? Wasn't he's a big boss of a big company? How can he have so much free time to look after her?

The elevator slid open and Song Xing Xing came out along with the other residents.

At the side, a few security personnel were seen standing on guard. The guards nodded politely when they saw her came out. Song Xing Xing scanned her surroundings and thought that the place seemed as if it was heavily guarded.

A few residents started to whisper a few words about this and the security personnel explained that the big boss decided to hire a few more personnel for the safety of the residents.

Looking at everything in front of her, Song Xing Xing finally believed that perhaps Lu Xun was not lying when he had told her about Bai Zhi's matters.

At this time, a guard walked over to her and nodded politely. "Miss Song, good morning."

"Un. Good morning."

"President Lu is already waiting for you at the entrance."

Her eyes were wide. After thanking the guard, Song Xing Xing quickly rushed over towards the entrance. Her body froze upon seeing that familiar vehicle parked at the entrance.

Everything around her suddenly moved in slow motion.

The door swung open and a pair of long legs stepped out. Soon, the bespectacled man stood beside the vehicle. He walked over to the other side and pulled the door open. He pushed his glasses on the bridge of his nose and smiled at her.

"Come in."

Hearing his voice, Song Xing Xing finally snapped out of her trance.

At this time, she had this feeling as if she was still in a dream.

Lu Xun had suddenly appeared in front of her apartment building and now, he was helping her with the door. What was with this treatment? Was she imagining things?

"Xing Xing."

"Ah?"

"Come in first."

Song Xing Xing nodded. She began to notice that there were a few residents who were looking at them while whispering something. Quickly, she walked over to the vehicle and slid into the passenger's seat.

The door shut closed and Song Xing Xing continued to be in a daze.

No. This is not right. Previously, she had already prepared to reject Lu Xun's offer and head over to the studio on her own. However, once she saw Lu Xun, her head seemed as if she was in a trance.

Lu Xun slid behind the wheel and turned to look at the person beside him.

Seeing that the man was staring at her, Song Xing Xing grew anxious. "What are you doing? Why are you staring at me? Why are you not driving?"

"Do you need me to help you with your seatbelt?"

Noticing that the man started to lean forward, Song Xing Xing quickly shook her head. "No need. I can do it myself."

Lu Xun watched as the girl fastened her seatbelt. Then, he turned around and grabbed a paper bag. "This is for you."

Song Xing Xing stared at the paper bag with a hesitant look. "What is it?"

Lu Xun chuckled as he saw the look on her face. "Don't worry. It's nothing dangerous. I just thought that you haven't had your breakfast and brought something along the way."

She took the paper bag from him and peeked inside. All of a sudden, the car was filled with the delicious aroma of a hot meat bun and a cup of soybean milk.

"Eat your breakfast first. There is still time before we arrive at the studio."

Song Xing Xing wanted to decline, but the smell of food was slowly tempting her. Should she eat the food or not?

Seeing that the car has started to move and Lu Xun was focusing on his driving, Song Xing Xing sneakily pinched at the meat bun to taste. Her eyes widened with surprise at the taste of the meat bun. It was soft and fragrant. It seemed that she had not eaten a good meat bun for a long time.

Of course, she had failed to see that a certain man was smiling happily upon noticing that she had eaten the breakfast he prepared.

He had let her down once and the girl was bent on keeping her distance from him.. At this time, Lu Xun could only pull some tricks to pursue her.
