Chapter 119 Hindsight

When Jake knew that there was another one in the nest, he immediately had an idea. What if he could use the remaining dinosaur with a definite vengeance as a sword.

A sword that they could use against many, many enemies in the vast jungle.

So they started with a plan in place. The scent that they decided would be the one to take the blame was one that could be easily replicated only by humans, who were non existent in this secret realm.

It was meat that was properly cooked. A good meal for sure, but not a meal that anyone here could make.

This meat was in the cave, fueling the father dinosaur's rage, and it was also creating a path.

A path away from the direction that Jake was running toward.

There was no way that someone as stupid as the dinosaur would understand that it was a diversion it was following. And it would follow the scent as much as it could, until it would mysteriously vanish.

Surely, it would travel far and wide to look for the ones who dared to steal their young, but it wouldn't find them. Because the meat itself was in Jake's inventory.

So whenever hey needed a sword too deliver punishment, the meat could return, and it would mysteriously lead a trail to the nest of that monster that Jake wanted to vanquish.

This was a plan that was put in place after a lot of brainstorming, and they knew that too many things could go wrong.

But now that it was in play, everything was going right. While Jake was running as fast as he could, he knew that the fading thuds could only mean one thing. The dinosaur took the bait, and it was gone now.

"It came faster than I expected. I thought that it would come just a little late." Jake thought to himself as he opened his chats.

[I am done here. What about you?]

He started moving toward the area of the fight. The fight between the two dinosaurs that are pitted against each other.

By now, a lot of damage would have bee done on both ends, and Jake was just waiting to see the two dinosaurs come to the last sliver of HP so that he could hopefully try and steal that kill.

He didn't see it happening, because the magnitudes even these slivers of HP were way too high, but he really wanted to test his luck.

He did have to take the giant detour to completely avoid the dinosaur, but now, the mother and father dinosaur of the first territory were as far from each other as Jake could get them.

He had maybe fifteen minutes before the father dinosaur would realize that he was on a wrong trail, and maybe another ten minutes before he would come here looking for clues on the other side of his territory.

Jake skidded to a halt as he crouched under a bush. He was in a new angle this time, but he could clearly see the two dinosaurs in a small distance.

They didn't notice him. The last time, the smell that enticed them was not them itself, but rather the meat. Slowly increasing the meaty smell, it enticed them even further to leave the cave and their children to chase after this prey.

He took a look at the HP bars of the two dinosaurs and smiled. They were both in red already. The fight was also going ahead of schedule.

[Where are you? The fight is almost done here.]

,m Jake messaged once again. There was no response. But Jake knew that no response didn't mean that Myriad Arrows died. It meant the opposite. It meant that he was still doing what he had to.

He was probably in the running stage of the plan by now, with the father dinosaur of the second territory chasing after another trail of meat that they left.

It took a whole day to make all of these preparations. If even one mistake occurred, well it didn't. They got at least some loot out of it, and that was all that mattered.

Ping!

[I am done. I am looking at the dinosaurs right now. Which angle are you looking at them through?]

Jake got a message.

[I'm at the second dinosaur's six. Right behind it. Where are you?] Jake asked.

[I'll come find you, wait.] Myriad Arrows replied back, and the chat went cold for a minute again.

Jake's eyes were glued to the dinosaurs though, and he was waiting to see if there was a chance for him to strike.

"Yeah. I am here." He heard a whisper next to him.

"Good. Get your best attack ready. How much does it take out again? How much damage does it deal?" Jake asked.

"About a thousand HP for something like this. The defense of these dinosaurs are way too high." Myriad Arrows said.

"This works then. I will get ready for an assault, and you can get your first attack ready. We will attack from behind the moment that one of the dinosaurs goes to the final dregs." Jake said.

"The first dinosaur looked like it is losing. We need to change positions." Myriad Arrows said.

"Right. Let's get moving." Jake nodded.

Both of them started circling around the dinosaurs carefully, trying not to trigger either one of their senses. And then, they got behind the first dinosaur.

"Attack with a normal arrow at first, then with your big attacks all at once. I will go with my big attacks at the same time." Jake said.

Myriad Arrows nodded and they readied their swords and looked at the dinosaur, waiting for the right time.

One second passed. And then another. Attack after attack, both dinosaurs were looking like they had the same HP, but in numbers, the first one was lower.

"Now!"
