Chapter 103 Poseidon (1)
"*sigh*... fine, I'll help pay for your meals, but you are still doing intel on this next mission. I'll send you the details in a bit but do prepare as we are heading out tonight. Do not disappoint me any further, boy."
"Yes, ma'am," I replied, leaving the room with a blank expression.
It wasn't long, but I took a nap before the mission, finding myself in a nightmare when I was extremely young. I was probably around the age when that event happened, but this one distinct event that really fucked me up continued to play in my head.
"Mama! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I won't do it again! I'm sorry! Please! It hurts!" I watched my young self plead as he was plastered onto the ground, bruised with belt marks on his face, chest, arms, and legs. He attempted to apologize for his simple misdoing yet was beaten to the brink of death by his merciless mother.
The sight almost made me want to throw up. I didn't want to see this anymore.
"Ugh… God fucking dammit," I groaned, getting out of bed as the clock struck seven, causing my alarm to go off. None of my siblings were present in the room, so I didn't wake anybody else up as I turned on the lights and walked into the bathroom. Quickly, I splashed water against my face and then rubbed it vigorously onto my skin. I needed to wake myself up now.
But as soon as I opened my eyes back up, I noticed four pairs of glowing eyes practically digging into my skin. A pair of pale-gray eyes, a pair of dark black reptilian pupils, two blank white eyes, like that of a paper sheet, had a scar ripping straight across both of them and a pair of cold but golden eyes.
"Your eyes ruin the terror of your squad," I smiled, glancing over at Elora, whose expression was so cold it sent shivers down my spine. This only widened my smile as I could tell she had fully prepared herself for this mission. She was serious about it, just like all of the other members.
Soon, they disappeared from my bathroom, allowing me to change into some more active clothes as we didn't have some kind of uniform yet. Also, I preferred something that didn't stand out as much, as escaping into the public would be harder.
These black body suits that people usually wear are so stupid. Sure, you can blend better into the night, but if that's what it takes for you to hide, then you better stop your job and go into some other kind of fighting activity. I mean, if you really need the shadows of the night to blend in, then you're practically useless during the day… I mean, come on, not all missions take place at night.
[You have received a new side quest]
.
[Side Quest: Slaughter The Evil Doers]
[Description: I hope you are excited for this mission because it will be a bloody one filled with gore and excitement… unfortunately, you have to sit back, though, because you are stupid as shit. For some reason, this felt a bit more personal than usual, and for some reason, just as I took a step out of my dorm, my status opened on its own… yet, why did it look like this?

…
My heart began to beat like crazy. It felt like it was going to explode. My chest was hot, and my lungs were on fire. Everything inside my body was on a rampage as this status continued to flicker in front of me. It was almost like the system injected into my body was going on a rampage.
"Ack… can't… breathe…" I muttered, attempting to crawl my way back into my room. It was so much pain that my mind nearly went numb, and just like that, I fainted. I straight up fainted on the ground, in between the hallway and my room.
When I awoke, I found myself in a majestic and absolutely gargantuan hall of towering waterfalls and a lake that I was somehow able to stand on. Each time I twitched a muscle, the water below me would react, sending rippling waves of liquid towards a massive throne that towered over me, just like everything else in this room.
It was made from a matte black material, standing out in the room, which glistened with light and sparkled with all kinds of substances. The throne was decorated with greenery that spread to the rest of the water in the room, making it seem like its own little ecosystem.
Blooop
A bubble appeared beneath me, pushing me upward and then to the side, causing me to tumble across the lake. Slowly, I looked down, further into the darkness of the lake below, only to see a massive fish swimming around, its eyes glowing with a blood-red aura.
Tup… Tup… Tup… Tup… Tup…
Out of nowhere, a man appeared. His hair was a dark blue, just like mine, but long enough to scrape the watery floor below us. His pale face hosted a light smile, but two eyes that had been completely torn apart by a slash through the both of them. It had dug into his eyes, completely destroying whatever nerves would allow him to open both of them. It created scar tissue so thick that I doubted he could ever recover from an injury so gruesome.
His long blue robes and long hair only made his feminine features even more pronounced. If his upper torso, which was lean and ripped, wasn't revealed to me, I probably wouldn't have thought otherwise.
"Who are you?" I asked, feeling his presence slowly begin to fill the room. He was strong, I'll admit that. Way stronger than me, but some of the teachers in my school and even some of the people I've seen online are no doubt stronger than him.
"I am the God of the Sea—the Ruler of Water and The King of All Sea Life. My name is Poseidon, and you are the boy who has received my system," The man announced himself fairly calmly. Almost a bit too calmly as his light smile continued to widen, his voice was also a bit deeper than I expected, nearly rattling the rippling water below us. "What? You don't believe me?"
"N-No, I don't believe you, but… you seem kind of weak for a god. Also, you aren't how I expected you to look. You look… almost a bit too weak to be a god," I replied with as much respect I could muster because if he really was a god, then angering him wouldn't do me any good. "I don't mean to disrespect you, it's just…."
"No, I understand what you mean," The man's soothing voice infiltrated my ears, calming down almost instantly. It was definitely the work of some kind of magic, but I couldn't really identify if it was a skill. If it was, I probably would have felt mana which contradicts my previous statement, but there is magic that can be utilized without the use of this lifeblood we have… but only the most pinnacle of beings were able to use them.
"Then… am I allowed to ask what happened?" I was intrigued, and due to his serenity, I felt like I could extract some information without him getting angry or annoyed over it. Of course, I wasn't going to push it, but it's not every day you get to meet a god.
"Unfortunately, I cannot tell you… hmmmm… you're a human. Normally, people would be bowing down at my presence, even sensing how much I've fallen… have you seen a god before? Do you remember that time the goddess transferred your soul into this young boy's body?"
Instead of me asking questions, the man easily took the upper hand. But for some reason, I felt no threat from him, allowing the words to flow easily from my mouth.
