Chapter 31 – The trial is passed.
[At the city.]
"I confirmed the necessary materials, here is your payment mister Phantasia." – said female guild worker while handing over the money.
"Thank you."
It's been…. Quiet long time since I got here.
I've been hunting those Dugu nonstop ever since I got here and I have been completing that repeat quest from the guild nonstop.
The Dugu may have level between 78 – 85, but the most annoying thing about them were their numbers.
I even saw once higher level monster getting killed by them easily. And that monster was level 100 monster! A group of around level 80 monsters had one sidedly eaten alive level 100 monster. So, yea…
Their main strength isn't level, but their numbers.
Not only that, after I killed the ones at the forest edges…. It became hell a lot of harder.
I have been encounter a lot of them at the same time now, making the hunting way riskier.
I even ended up losing my left leg and arm in the process once and had to call quits until I recover.
Well, I also have died for the first time as well at their hands, I got unlucky and ran into 12 of them at the same time while I was running away from 5…. Yea…. That was one sided beatdown. I even lost my level and was unlucky to drop my gloves, fortunately I was able to take them back…. But then I had to run away since I was spotted by that same group from before….
So, yea, the first death wasn't fun as well as consequences of dying.
By the way, when you lose level, you don't lose the skill points and stat points, no matter if you used them or not, however you will lose the all stat increase and getting your level back won't give you any benefits, meaning no skill points or stat points, you only get your all stat up you lost.
But overall, things worked great after a while.
My current level is 87 and I even got 2 new titles and one got upgraded.
[Tricker Hunter – Tier 1]
[Rarity: D(Grow)]
[Hunt many enemies using traps as well as other dirty tactics instead of confronting them head on.]
[+5 class points.]
[You have killed countless enemies by letting them die via poisoning.]
[Poison Tier 1 has become tier 2]
[Title Rank: D (Grow)
[Increase the damage done by the poison type attacks (Not including items) done by you by (1%) -> 2%]
Not only that, but my tamed monsters leveled up a lot.
I know that they maybe be angry at me, but it was worth it.
They got stronger and they kind of let off their steam on those fuckers…. Thank fuking god it wasn't me.
(Well, at least I archived my main goal of leveling up.)
(The poison mage had hit level 100 and now only alchemy class is left.)
(However, the problematic things are the monsters stronger than Dugu.)
(Dugu main strength is their numbers when fighting together, but the high level monsters will be more problematic.)
(However, I'm getting closer!)
(Now all I need is an alchemy materials I can use!)
(I have some of the left over Dugu eyes I kept for myself for the alchemy research, but I need more stuff.)
(Now that I have enough strength, I can gather materials in the forest without that much trouble and won't have to focus on the survival all the time.)
(But first, lets see what kind of quest I can take?)
(It will help me get some extra cash and maybe get some interesting materials I can use for the alchemy.)
"…"
"?!"
[Hunt down the Weed Dragon]
"Dragon?!" – said the Phantasia out loud after noticing one of the quests
"?"
"Oh?" – said the guild worker that was cleaning nearby, hearing the commotion that the Phantasia was making and deciding to walk towards him.
"?"
"Oh…. Hi Emili." – said Phantasia to female dark elf worker.
"Hi."
"So, is something wrong? You looked worried there?"
"Oh… Well, this."
"?"
"Oh, weed dragon quest. Is something wrong?"
"…Well, aren't the dragons some powerful and mighty creatures? Won't it just burn me down or something?"
"Nope."
"I see you don't know much about dragons." – said Emili.
"True, children and some people do see dragons as big and scary monsters, but they are really complicated."
"Like beasts, bird or fish monsters, there also exist dragon monsters."
"There are big scary ones, but there are also dragons that are extremely weak that even farmer can kill."
"So dragon is more like an category of the race."
"By the way, the giant dragon like creatures you know from the stories are known as just dragons."
"The weed dragon is an plant dragon monster."
"However they aren't like the giant scary monsters."
"The weed dragons can evolve into different version, so they can be versatile."
"So if you hunt them as well as its evolved forms, we can pay you for them as well as it will fulfil the quest conditions."
"The weed dragons are omnivorous, meaning that they eat both plants and living beings."
"You can pretty much find them quiet easily if you see bite marks on the trees or the eaten remains, they are like vultures that don't mind eating rotting remains."
"…"
"So in terms of strength, how strong are they?"
"Hm…. Well, a bit above average their own level, but only a bit, nothing like extremely powerful, so even average joe can hunt them down without much problem."
"Huh…. So, I guess I was scared for no reason?"
"Yeb. They aren't really that dangerous, but more of an annoyance."
"However, the evolved version are bit problematic."
"The dandelion dragon can spit a magic breath from its mouth."
"The plantain dragon have high defense and clover dragon is an offensive one."
"There are other version, but these ones only appear here."
"There is also some weed dragons that have special evolutions."
"For example, the weed dragon who had become parent weed dragon."
"There is also quest related to hunting them down, so if you like, you can take the quest regarding them, but be warned, they are way stronger than weed dragons."
(So it's like a boss, huh? Kind of like that giant sewer rat or that giant wild bear I hunted in the Wild town.)
"Hm?"
"Wait, the quest description said that you want materials from them if possible and the payment will be done after receiving the materials?"
"Yea."
"The weed dragons are annoying, but their entire bodies can be used for the alchemy."
"?!"
(Did she said alchemy?! And their entire body?!)
"Does that includes their evolved forms and the parent version?" – asked excited Phantasia.
"Well, yes, but I don't know much how or what it is used for." – said the dark elf.
"I see." – said Phantasia.
"Then I have question."
"If I kill them but don't hand over all the materials, would that still count as the quest completion?"
"Nope. You need to give the materials to complete the quest."
"However, we will buy them at reasonable price and bit more since it was a quest."
"I see."
"…"
"Then I will take it." – said Phantasies while taking off the piece of paper off the board.
[You have accepted the quest.]
"Well then, I wish you good luck." – said the dark elf.
"No problems." – replied Phantasia before leaving the guild.
(Well, well, well.)
(Would you FUKING look at that!)
(Their level is around 90 and above as well as the possibility it can be level 100, but I will manage!)
(Not only that, their entire bodies can be used for alchemy?!)
(This is way too perfect! Did I after getting kicked in the ass and getting unlucky again and again had now charged up and granted me luck?!)
(…)
(Wait, if that is the case, won't I get unlucky in the near future again or something and get fucked?)
"…."
(Let's not think about it.)
(For now, it's better if I look a bit about those weed dragons from the merchants and also use the materials, I got from those claw bastards to make myself new gauntlet. I think their claws will be useful. I also need a new crossbow since my last one ended up breaking after I was chased around by those bastards.)
(But anyway, after securing the materials, I will be finally able to start the research and the production.)
(And soon, everything will be done and ready for the me to start the second research.)
(So, let's not waste any more time now.)
