Chapter 160: Deadly Encounter
Chapter 160: Deadly Encounter
"....what?" Aleron blinked, his expression speechless. "Are you serious?"
Elysia rolled her eyes, "Do I have any choice? Doing bad things is an easier way to get things done and reach goals, but the current path in front of me requires me to follow you if I want to live and accomplish my goals."
"So..." Elysia looked at Aleron with a somber expression. "I am willing to repent and take punishment. I'll preserve my body in my source space, and let you have my soul."
"You really trusting me with that soul of yours?" Aleron raised his eyebrows. Elysia was putting her life in his hands. If he wanted to, he could just erase her soul to kill her, but of course, that was not how things were done in his kingdom.
"I have seen enough of you to know you'll keep your word and judgment," Elysia smiled resignedly. "I'll finish a bit of my work before turning myself in, is that okay, Mr. Judge?" "Alright, that's fine unless you plan to add to your sins," Aleron narrowed his eyes.
"Of course not," Elysia said before her eyes faintly glinted and a piece of soul essence flew towards Aleron. "I'm sure with your current mastery of Space, you can teleport me to your side using my soul."
"What? I can't do that unless you are on my radar." Aleron frowned.
"Yes, you can," Elysia chuckled, "You just have to figure out how. So, see you later."
Elysia vanished into sparks disappeared.
'Guess that's one big matter settled.'
"Master, since you won't have much work after this, you have to relax and enjoy, okay?" Yueha said with a pout.
"That's the plan," Aleron grinned. "We'll go on a cosmic adventure to have fun."
A few minutes more passed by before the Primeval-rank Beastfolks returned to their prime condition and fully recovered.
"Beat them to half-death, Eno. I'm going to turn them into Xorgs, so I can see how powerful Xorgs of Primeval-rank powerhouse become," Aleron looked at the beastfolks while icily smiling.
-
While Enorin proceeded to beat those five Beastfolks, Fang and others finished resting and continued to the final section of the Crystalspire Auroraville.
The group had destroyed hundreds of crystal monsters and gathered even more elemental crystals during their expedition in this major secret region.
By now, each of them had at least 2 elemental arcane syllabi/mastery at level 10, and with so much fighting, they had several non-elemental arcane syllabi/mastery at level 10 as well.
"The final area has a strange energy source," Rias raised her eyebrows as her eyes flickered. "Yeah, it's volatile," Ruan nodded.
Inside the big underground area's deepest section, the group faced a strange blue membrane, with a strange energy source behind it.
"Something's happening," Jiang's brows crackled with lightning as he entered combat stance.
The others also sensed the energy behind the membrane turning more volatile and got ready.
Suddenly, the membrane glowed before it spewed out a giant crystal monster, which answered everyone's question as well.
Fang waved his black and white handfan as a chaotic swirling vortex straight-up devoured the Crystal Monster from one side before releasing its broken pieces along with two Elemental crystals from its other side.
"So the crystal monsters are produced from there," Liang blinked and sent her guqin's waves toward the membrane, trying to create a stable tear into it. "Let's see what's behind."
They couldn't sense or see past the membrane with scout-type skills except for the aura of a strange energy source behind it, so the only way was to break it.
With Liang's stable tearing waves of sound, the membrane tore open a perfect hole. Everyone immediately used their scout-type skills and finally saw what was behind them.
It was a ten-meter radius semi-crystalized transparent orb with spreading out faint waves of blue mixed with silver and white sparks.
But it didn't look like just a simple energy orb because it showed the scenery of a completely different world!
"Does that mean those crystal monsters are coming from there?" Roxen asked in surprise as she looked at the scenery of a crystalized forest with three suns in the sky. "That's a different world right there!"
"Do we....check it out?" Ruan swept her eyes at others as she asked, but her eyes curiously showed curiosity.
"Of course, we check it out," Riki said as he flew forward.
The nine of them-Riki, Fang, Jiang, Liang, Lee, Ying, Ruan, Rias, and Roxen-stepped cautiously through the shimmering crystal orb portal, entering the crystalized world. The air was cool and crisp, with an otherworldly hue cast by the three suns in the sky.
The crystallized forest around them glittered and sparkled, each tree and plant reflecting the light in myriad colors.
"This place is incredible," Riki marveled, his eyes wide with wonder as he hovered just above the ground, surveying the landscape.
"Stay sharp," Fang warned, his black and white handfan ready to execute his skills. "We don't know what kind of dangers we might face here."
They moved forward as a unit, each member of the group using their scout-type skills to scan the area. The environment was beautiful yet eerie, the silence only broken by the occasional tinkling sound of crystal branches swaying in the light breeze.
After walking for about an hour, they reached a clearing where the forest thinned out, revealing a crystalline river flowing with liquid light. The group paused to take in the sight, mesmerized by its beauty.
"Look!" Ying pointed towards the far side of the river where a group of five humanoid figures stood. They were over a kilometer away.
They were crystallized, their bodies reflecting the light like living statues, aside from the regular humanoid structure of two hands, and two legs, their face had three eyes, a single radiant colorful horn, and a long crystal tail.
"They're some kind of humanoid crystal species and their aura..." Rias's expression turned slightly grave. "We should escap-"
"Watch out!"
Without warning, the crystal beings turned towards the group, their eyes glowing with a fierce light. In a blur of motion, they moved, covering the distance between them and the
group in seconds.
"Defensive retreature!" Jiang shouted, lightning crackling around his fists and his face grave.
The crystal beings attacked with surprising agility and strength, their limbs transforming into sharp, crystalline blades and other exotic attacks like blasts, bombs, and various such attacks of different elements.
Riki and Fang quickly engaged, using their abilities to counter the attacks as the two strongest of the group. The others were barely defending themselves from the onslaught.
Fang's vortex swirled around one of the beings, attempting to crush it, but the crystal entity surprisingly absorbed the attack before its body glowed and redirected it, sending a powerful blast back at the group.
'They're converting our attacks into their own power!' Liang warned as she played her guqin, sending sonic waves to disrupt the crystal beings' energy flow. 'Alright, this works, but only slowed down my attack's absorption instead of properly intercepting it.'
'Their energy is clearly stronger in potency than ours and their stats are higher. Full focus on retreating, but careful of their attacks,' Ying said as his spirit weapons techniques couldn't
penetrate them at all.
Despite their combined efforts, the group found themselves struggling against the relentless
assault.
Rias and Roxen took heavy hits, their defenses barely holding up against the onslaught. Ying and Lee fought back-to-back, their movements synchronized, but even their teamwork couldn't completely fend off the attackers.
'We are close.'
'Fall back to the portal!'
With great effort, the group managed to pull back, using their abilities to create a combined stacked barrier between themselves and the crystal beings. They hurriedly retreated towards the portal, the crystal beings in hot pursuit.
Just as they were about to reach the portal, a massive crystal being, twice the size of the others, appeared, blocking their path. It raised its arm, ready to strike, but Ruan quickly used her illusion domain, going all out and using all of her powers to affect the crystal beings'
consciousness.
'They can't absorb soul-based attacks.'
'Go, go, go!; Ruan urged as she maintained the illusion that those crystal beings were now attacking twenty meters away thinking they were there.
The group finally leaped through the portal, emerging back into the underground area of Crystalspire Auroraville. They collapsed on the ground, panting and nursing their injuries. They had to go all out and maintain an ultra-focused state or those crystal beings' attacks could easily fatally wound them.
"That was too close," Rias said, wincing as she clutched her side, a gaping wound on her stomach's side. She quickly used her healing skills and her Bloodline essence to heal faster.
Fang and Riki were also severely injured near the end as they were frontline warriors who took most of the onslaught of those crystal beings.
Liang also helped everyone and herself recover by buffing them with one of her Symbios Gear -Symphonic Melody's skills as this one was a support-type skill with the effect of healing, boosting healing processes, and increasing the potency of recovery-type skills on target. Meanwhile, on the other side of the crystal orb, at the mysterious new world, or to be more
precise a planet.
The five crystal beings looked at the crystal orb portal and could see Fang and others in the
cave.
One of them stretched a hand towards the orb, but when it entered within a meter of it where the blue energy waves filled with silver and white sparks flowed out, that crystal being's hand started breaking down and dispersed its fingertips.
"We still can't enter through this damn thing while those crystal mutts enter easily," the tall crystal being cursed in a raspy middle-aged voice as he quickly took the hand and started
healing his fingers.
*Crack...*
Suddenly, they saw faint cracks appearing on the orb, surprising them.
"Hmm? This is strange..." the muscular crystal being frowned.
"Let's call an elder to see if they can know what's going on. I doubt the other side only has
those people."
"If we can enter, then we should take initiative, yes. Better to attack than defend."
"Yeah, let's return and report this."
