Chapter 837: Chapter 833: Eat well to have the energy for work
“There wasn’t anything important at the company today, right?”
Originally, Roy Lewis didn’t want to talk about work during their rare moments alone together.
But he only had so little time each day to see her now. If they didn’t talk now, when would they? During their time in bed later?
Richelle Dunn sat down with a glass of water, “Nothing major. Nathan and I can basically handle everything as acting CEOs.”
Roy Lewis found it a bit amusing.
“In that case, neither of us has a proper job. We’re both just stand-ins.”
Confirming Roy’s bowl was empty, Richelle got up and refilled it with half a bowl for him.
Roy Lewis glanced at the pot, which had quite a bit left, and said.
“I’m not full yet. Fill it up.”
Richelle hesitated for a moment before giving him the half bowl of rice.
“Don’t overeat this late. It’s not good for your stomach.”
Roy Lewis pushed the bowl back to her.
“Got to be full, otherwise I won’t have the energy for later!”
It took a moment for Richelle to figure out what he meant and looked at him, puzzled.
“It’s almost eleven now, still want to work? Are you not treating me as a human being?”
Roy Lewis smiled at her, “Isn’t that the case? The work later will be exhausting! But, as for not treating you as a human being, that’s impossible! Our home, at least in terms of human rights, is guaranteed.”
It wasn’t until this moment that Richelle understood what he meant by “work”.
Her face turned red all of a sudden, and she glared at him fiercely, scooping up another big spoonful from the pot, filling the bowl and handing it to him.
“Here!”
Roy Lewis took the rice with a smile in his eyes and teased her again.
“Wow, such a big bowl. Seems like you think I haven’t been putting in enough effort recently!”
Richelle glared at him fiercely and pretended to snatch the bowl back.
“Too much? Then don’t eat…”
Roy Lewis grabbed her hand, lowered his head, and kissed the back of it. He looked up at her with a seductive gaze and softly said.
“Baby, I love you!”
Richelle’s face turned even redder, she forcefully pulled her hand back and threatened him with gritted teeth through her bright red face.
“Neither food nor soup can shut your mouth, huh?”
Roy Lewis winked at her, and his deep eyes emitted waves of affection.
“It seems nothing can. Who can blame me for loving you so much!”
Richelle hissed, “Roy, stop it. Eat your meal. If you keep joking around, I won’t keep you company.”
And she said he was a prude. As a matter of fact, he had a slick mouth like a hooligan.
Roy promptly got up, hugged her and gently pushed her back onto her chair.
“Just sit here with me, I won’t joke anymore.”
Richelle stared at him. After a while, she finally spoke. ”
“I just realized that Timothy’s cheekiness is inherited from you.”
Roy made a noise of disapproval.
“How can we call it cheekiness? I’m just saying a few words to please my wife. That’s a good man’s virtue.”
Richelle rolled her eyes, “Alright, Master Lewis, you’re right. Just eat, the food will lose its taste once it gets cold.”
Richelle picked up her phone to check on the news while Roy continued his meal. It was at that moment he thought of the matter regarding the collaboration with William Bailes.
“Is the collaboration with William Bailes almost settled?”
It was only after Roy asked that Richelle remembered the matter. She then explained her suspicions that she and Nathan had earlier raised. After Roy heard them out, he barely hesitated before saying.
“I guess those companies are being blackmailed by someone.”
Richelle clapped her hands in agreement, “As expected of Master Lewis, you figured it out just listening!”
Roy took a sip of his soup, “Isn’t it obvious? The film industry has been hitting record-breaking box office highs in the past few years. Those money launderers have been eyeing this as a big cake.”
Richelle couldn’t help but sigh. It wasn’t just Roy’s title that gave him clout; it was his extensive vision, keen sense of timing, and grand strategy. He was incomparably more capable than someone like her, an acting CEO.
“So, can you guess who is being so brazen and rampant?”
Roy nodded, “Who else could it be, besides the Lilliputs and the Thompsons?”
Richelle clicked her tongue, “So you’ve known all along?”
Roy shook his head, “Of course not. I don’t even know them. If it weren’t for you, I probably wouldn’t have gotten involved in the film industry.”
Richelle’s heart skipped a beat.
“So everyone unanimously approved of William Bailes’ collaboration just for my sake?”
She had spent half of her energy on Lewis Group recently, while Roy had practically let go of the company. It wasn’t impossible possibility that he had made a suggestion to Nathan, who then coordinated with the board of directors to push the collaboration through successfully.
Roy watched her expression darken and realized that she misunderstood his meaning.
“Not at all. I wasn’t involved in this collaboration at all. You and Nathan were completely in charge. If the project was approved unanimously, the board must have seen the potential of the partnership.”
However, Richelle didn’t quite believe him.
“Then why did you say if it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t get involved in the film industry.”
Roy looked deeply into her eyes before responding.
“The film industry is too chaotic. I was afraid some collaborators would resort to dirty tricks. I don’t have time to deal with such a mess. So it’s better not to get involved at all.”
