This Beast-Tamer is a Little Strange

Chapter 368 What Genre Is This?!

Using Bea, Kain split them into groups, each group containing one of each attribute.

He instructed Bea to send faint nudges of calm and cooperation through the threads, urging the moths and butterflies to interact. At first, there was resistance; the creatures fluttered their wings irritably, some even attempting to pull away. But Bea's influence held firm, and gradually, the spiritual creatures began to settle into their groups.

Due to the over enthusiasm of the higher-ups for Kain, there were over 10 of each types—meaning that there were over a dozen groups and nearly 100 spiritual creatures in the space in total.

Kain walked to a nearby group and reached into his space ring and withdrew a bundle of spiritual plants, each corresponding to the elements of the different moths and butterflies. Gently, he placed the plants in front of the creatures, coaxing them to feed and spin their silk.

However, after a few minutes of them either refusing to do so, or not fully understanding his intentions, Kain had Bea once again take full control of their bodies to begin spinning the silk.

Part of the reason Kain had selected this group was because he could sense the saturation of energy in their bodies, this group had the members of each ethnic group that were the most ready for evolution.

Kain removed a spiritual orb and catalyst from his space ring, and waited for a certain amount of silk to be produced.

Thankfully, for most spiritual creatures like the River Wolf Pup, the Silkworm, and now these moths, their long-term grazing of specific spiritual plants has resulted in them not requiring an additional base evolutionary material—only a catalyst to trigger the evolution, and the spiritual orb to support the energy needed to evolve.

Therefore, contracts that don't need an additional purchase of an expensive and/or rare evolutionary base material to succeed in evolving are quite popular among the masses. However, among more talented beast tamers they are still typically not chosen since lack of a special or particularly potent base material during evolution means that all of them are relatively uniform after evolution, and they tend to be weaker at the same level than other species that need a base material to evolve.

Kain closely monitored the group of moths as the silk began to accumulate in soft, shimmering piles. Using Bea's influence, the creatures produced their threads at a steady pace, each one glowing faintly with the spiritual energy of its respective attribute.

The vibrant hues of the silk—green from the Leafwing Moth, blue from the Tidalace Butterfly, silver from the Skythread Butterfly, and golden from the Haloed Butterfly—made for a mesmerizing sight.

It's no wonder that, like the typical Vespirae Queen renowned for its spiritual honey, Silkworm moths and butterflies, while not popular among powerful beast-tamers, are still desired by low-level beast-tamers who don't like to fight and would like to use the silk produced by their contracts to earn money.

Seeing the silks of all different attributes and colours made for a stunning sight, and Kain was almost considering entering the fashion industry, but quickly put that thought on hold—its best not to enter a field he knew nothing about.

Once he felt there was enough silk, Kain carefully collected the threads, placing each type into separate bins labeled with their attributes.

Then, he selected one Leafwing Moth from the group and gently guided it to begin spinning a cocoon around itself—a necessary condition for it to evolve.

As the Leafwing Moth began spinning its cocoon, weaving its own silk threads into the mix. Kain gradually added small amounts of the collected silk from the other attributes, observing how they blended into the forming cocoon.

At first, everything seemed to proceed smoothly—the threads harmonized, creating a multi-hued cocoon that pulsed with spiritual energy.

However, as the cocoon neared completion, Kain's expression darkened. He could feel the energy within the cocoon becoming unstable, the delicate balance between the elements starting to collapse.

Suddenly, a burst of fiery energy erupted from the cocoon, consuming the nearby threads and overpowering the natural-attribute silk still being produced by the Leafwing Moth, and even beginning to damage the moth which was vulnerable to the fire-element, which was still spinning away inside the cocoon.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Stop," Kain ordered sharply, quickly halting the process to prevent further damage. Bea immediately controlled it to stop its movements while Kain used a knife to begin cutting away the now useless threads.

Kain stepped closer to examine the incomplete cocoon, his eyes narrowing. The threads that had been infused with fire-attribute energy were noticeably more potent than the others, the saturation of energy slightly exceeding that of the other attributes.

Even though he had used equal amounts of silk from each attribute, the imbalance in the spiritual energy levels of the silk threads themselves had caused the cocoon to destabilize.

"Silken Harmony, huh?" Kain muttered, recalling the description in the Evolution Simulator. "It's not just about mixing threads—it's about achieving a perfect balance of the different attributes."

He sighed, rubbing his temples. "This is going to be a lot harder than I thought."

Kain would need to perfectly calculate how much of each type of silk to use along with the Leafwing Moth's own silk in order to achieve a perfect balance, which is extremely difficult and near impossible for him to do on his own.

Thankfully, when he was provided with a lab it did come with a machine that gave detailed figures on the amount and attributes of spiritual power present in an object or creature, a machine Kain hadn't used often until now.

Moving the machine to the care facility with some help, Kain began feeding it samples of the silk from each attribute, using its advanced sensors to measure the precise spiritual energy levels in each thread. The results confirmed his suspicion: the fire-attribute silk had 50% more energy density compared to the others, with the remaining threads also displaying minor differences form one another.

"If I want this to work, I need to figure out exactly how much silk to use from each type to achieve balance," Kain realized.

He then reread the Silken Harmony description. Only three additional attributes were needed for the evolution, not all of them. To simplify the process, Kain decided to limit the attributes he used.

After running multiple calculations and simulations, he identified a promising combination: water, wind, and light. These attributes had spiritual energy levels closer to each other and to the natural-attribute energy of the Leafwing Moth's silk.

But then a new problem arose—certain attributes seemed to require their counterparts for balance. Light could not exist in harmony without dark, and fire required water to offset its intensity. Moreover, all of these elements seemed to interact with one another more or less.

"F***!"

Thinking of the Chinese elemental pentagram he'd read about in some Chinese cultivation novels in his past life and his future struggles, Kain wanted to flip a table.

When had this modern fantasy world shifted into the realm of Chinese Xianxia!!!
