The Vampire's Love: You Are My Destiny

Chapter 425 - Peace At Last!

The following day after Rebecca give birth to the twins, Corbin brought his father to the manor to see his grandchildren.

"Good morning, Father!" Rebecca conveyed her greetings to her father-in-law. Their eyes met and she saw the sadness and longing in his eyes, she know why. Her father-in-law's eyes display an emptiness every time they saw each other. It all started when her mother-in-law Sylvia failed to return to the land of the living.

Zalvo looked at Rebecca sitting on the chair. "How are you feeling now, daughter?" he asked.

"I'm feeling great!" Rebecca replied. "Your grandchildren are waiting for their grandfather," she said cheerfully.

Zalvo went to the bed and stared at the newborn, fresh tears emerged in his eyes. He can't express the happiness he felt after seeing the newborn's angelic face. "Aw... so healthy and cute babies!" he said and touched their tiny feet. "Babies, grandpa is here!" he said, smiling brightly.

A joyous smile appeared on Corbin's face after witnessing the delight leaping from his father's eyes.

Rebecca exited the room quietly to give privacy to the father and son.

Zalvo looked at Corbin. "C-can I hold them in my arms?" he asked excitedly.

"Yeah, sure, Father!" Corbin replied with a nod of his head.

Zalvo picked up the baby boy first and nuzzled its feet lovingly. "Hello, grandson! We will play together when you're old enough to call me grandpa, okay?" he whispered.

The baby boy moved his hand and touched his grandfather's face.

Zalvo burst into tears of joy. "Aw, my grandson already knows that his grandpa is carrying him lovingly in his arms," he said in elation.

After bonding with the baby boy, Zalvo put him down on the bed and picked up the baby girl. "Hello, little girl, grandpa is here! Grow up quickly okay? So that I can teach you and your brother how to ride a horse and levitate in the air," he said with a grin.

Misty-eyed, Corbin watched his father bonding with his grandchildren. If only his mother is here, his happiness would be complete.

Corbin went to his Zalvo's side. "Father, can you promise me in front of your grandchildren that you won't attempt to end your life - just to follow mother in the netherworld?" he asked.

Zalvo fell silent for a moment. He looked at the faces of his grandchildren for a few minutes, imagining the cute kids running after him on the front lawn of his house while they were playing together.

"Father, what's your decision?" Corbin asked.

"Alright, I will no longer follow your mother to the land of the dead but on one condition..." Zalvo said.

"What is it, Father. Please, tell me!" Corbin said excitedly.

"Convince your wife to stay in our family home starting next week so that I can see my grandchildren every day. That's all I'm asking from you. Seeing my grandchildren's faces every day will lessen the pain and loneliness in my heart and will prevent me from ending my life too soon," Zalvo said.

Corbin nodded his head. "Alright, I'll tell my wife about your request," he said, feeling a bit conflicted inside. He smiled broadly at his father, masking the worry appearing in his eyes.

Sporting a happy smile on his face, Zalvo stayed in the manor the whole morning, joining the couple in the dining room for lunch, and then finally return to his place at 2:00 in the afternoon.

The couple went back to their bedroom after their guest went home.

Rebecca noticed the apprehensive look on her husband's face. "Husband, why are you looking sad all of a sudden? Did something happened to you and your father?" she inquired.

Corbin took a deep breath. "I begged my father to not follow my mother in the netherworld just for the sake of his grandchildren..."

Rebecca's brows knitted together in bewilderment. "And what did he say to you-?"

Corbin scratches his head. "He told me that he won't follow my mother as long you and the children will stay in our family home so that he can see his grandchildren every day, the purpose is to lessen the sadness and loneliness in his heart..." he said.

Rebecca fell silent after hearing her father-in-law's request, she saw the sadness on her husband's face. If she refused to live there, her husband will feel sad. She breathed deeply. Should she let hatred occupy her heart even after she successfully gives birth to her children yesterday? In the future, should she teach her children hatred or forgiveness? If she chose forgiveness, then she should start from within.

She knows that Corbin loves his father so much and he is willing to do anything for him but he also won't force her to stay there in his father's place if it's against her will. Between the three of them, it's her husband that is having a hard time the most, torn between his father and his wife. What a difficult situation it is for his beloved husband. She can't bear watching the sadness in Corbin's eyes if suddenly her father-in-law will die of heartbreak.

She doesn't want Corbin to blame her if Zalvo will eventually decide to follow his wife in the netherworld because she refused his innocent request and that is to see his grandchildren every day. It seems like she has to let go of her grudge towards Zalvo for the sake of everyone's happiness including her own. She needs to swallow her pride and learn to forget the past - move on completely and face the bright future with her beloved family.

Corbin studied his wife's troubled face. "Wife, it's okay if you don't agree to my father's request, I understand your side," he said sadly.

Thick silence enveloped the couple for a few minutes.

After a while, Rebecca cleared her throat. "It's okay, husband. I know how you feel. Don't worry, I'm willing to relocate there in your family home starting next week," she finally agreed.

Stunned, Corbin looked at his wife's face closely. "D-did I hear you correctly? You are finally agreeing to my father's request? A-are you sure?" he asked in disbelief.

Rebecca smiled and nodded her head. "Yes! I'm 100% sure of my decision!" she said seriously.

Elated, Corbin rushed to Rebecca's side and embraced her tightly. "Thank you so much, wife! You make me so happy today!" he said and planted a kiss on her head.

The joy radiating on Corbin's face somehow comforted Rebecca, assuring her that she did the right thing for the sake of her husband's happiness and her family's togetherness.

After a long time of harboring hatred towards her in-laws, she finally feels at peace with herself after letting go of her hatred towards her father-in-law.
