The Tale Of Kitsuna

Chapter 69

Chapter 69: The King and Queen

“Guys, we have arrived,” Dean said from the front.

“That was faster than I thought,” I said, looking up from our conversation towards the castle gates we were busy driving by.

“The mansion is around the corner, so it makes sense it will be fast for us to get here,” Zagan said, looking at me.

“Oh, do remind me again. Why are you drive with us here today again?” I ask, looking at him perplexed.

“My parents can’t make it because they are at the border for work. So, I am alone for today.”

“And your bother?” Mom asks, confused.

“No idea where he is,” Zagan said, shrugging.

“That brother of yours.” Mom said with a sigh.

.....

“What do...” Feeling the car coming to a stop, I decided not to ask about Zagans’ brother.

“Welcome to the castle Draig family.” A Royal Knight said, opening the door next to Amari. I knew he was a royal knight because his armour was silver with gold shoulder guards, the standard royal guard armour.

“Oh, thank you,” Amari said, climbing out with the rest following behind her. Climbing out last, I got a raised eyebrow from the royal guard.

“Never seen a Demon fox?” I asked, tilting my head at him.

“Actually, Yes, you are the first one I have ever seen. Might I know your name Milady?” He asks politely.

“Not Milady, young miss. I am only 14 years old, and my name is Kitsuna Draig.” I explain, facepalming at being calmed Milady again.

“Oh, you’re the adopted daughter. I am terribly sorry for the misunderstanding.” He said, bowing down.

“It’s fine. It happens way too much for me to get worked up for it,” I said, waving him off.

“Oi Kitsuna, you are dragging behind again,” Kayda said, standing at the castle entrance.

“yeah yeah, I am on my way,” I said, walking past the Knight, who was still staring at me.

“What took you so long,” Kayda asks, tilting her head at me.

“Nothing don’t worry about it,” I said, sigh feeling multiple gazes on me.

“If you say so. However, are you really going to wear that to the banquet?” Kayda said, looking at my clothes.

I was wearing tight jeans with a button shirt to look mostly presentable. I still had my normal boots and hoodie on with my trusty scarf around my neck as always.

“I thought we have been over this. I will not wear a dress or a suit ever. It is way too uncomfortable.” I said seriously. Looking back at Kayda, I smirked at her dress and spoke. “I can’t believe you actually wore the dress I bought you for today.”

“So am I not allowed to wear this dress. it is mine, after all.” Kayda said, puffing her cheeks and walking away into the castle.

“That’s not what I meant,” I said, walking after Kayda.

Catching up to Kayda, we went to the banquet hall where the rest of the family and Sirone already were.

“Okay, when we get in the ballroom. we are going to go and first say out greetings to the Queen and then the King.” Kayda said, stopping at a double door.

“Un.” Nodding at her, she sighed and opened the door.

“Just follow me,” Kayda said, walking into the ballroom.

While we were walking to one side where the most people were, I looked around, smelling a lot of different scents. Sadly, most of them were perfume, but I could still smell the delicious food that was at the right-back side where we came into the ballroom. Feeling my mouth starting to the water, I mentally noted where the food and hoped the greetings were faster.

“Kitsuna, I understand it smells nice, but please don’t drool like that in front of the Queen,” Kayda whispered in next to me.

“I will try my best,” I said, rubbing my mouth clean.

“What is a Berberian like that doing with Kayda the Sage.” I heard a woman said we just pass muttered to her companion.

“I know, right. She looks so unworthy.” her companion said.

“Don’t get worked up about some dumb talks, okay.”

“Hmm, I know they will be shitting themself when the night is over, so it’s fine,” I said with an evil smirk.

“You know I almost feel bad for what you’re going to do to him, almost.” Kayda comment.

Seeing that we were next in line to greet the Queen, I put my emotionless face on. Looking at the Queen, I was surprised that she was a normal human that looked to be in her late 40 in age, but she was one gorgeous human when she was younger. She had raven black hair with ocean clear blue eyes. she was wearing a long fluffy gold-brown dress.

“Aah, Kayda, you made it. I am so glad, and you have wings now. Congratulations.” The Queen said, hugging Kayda that surprised me a bit.

“Good evening, your majesty. It has been a while since I saw you.” Kayda said, smiling and hugging back.

“Hmm.” Seeing me, the Queen tilted her head in confusion for a second before realization hit her. Smiling, she looked at me with a mischievous glint in her eyes and spoke. “Wait you must be the new troublemaker of the Draig family.”

“Knew? Was there one before me?” I said, tilting my head at the Queen.

“She doesn’t even deny that she is one.” A man said from my right. Looking at the voice, I saw a late 20-year-old Dragonoid man with gold and brown scales. He was the same height as Brenda and wore a black suit that fit with his raven black hair.

“You must be the current King,” I said, looking at him.

“Yes, that is me. I have been waiting to meet you for the past month.” The king said, looking a bit tired.

“Oh, can’t wait to see your new weapon?” I said, holding my emotionless face.

“I wish it were that simple. Sigh, how do you do it?” The king said with a gloomy face.

“Do what?” I said, confused.

“How do you create 3 stacks of complaints in one outing to a city?”

“How big are the stacks?” I asked back, hiding my grin.

“They are huge. it takes me at least 3 days to complete all that paperwork.” The king complains.

“Hunny, calm down. We are at a banquet. If you want to talk to her, go outside and do it there, people are watching. I will join you when I am done with the greetings.” The Queen said, rubbing the King’s back.

“Yes, mother.” The king said, walking towards the balcony waving for me to join.

“Well, it was nice meeting you, Your Majesty,” I said, following behind him with a sigh.

Seeing Kayda also followed me, I looked at her and shook my head.

“You are sure,” Kayda asks worriedly.

“Yeah, why do you think? Mom isn’t here,” I said, leaving her and continuing walking after the King.

“Walking onto the balcony, I saw we were alone. Hearing me, the king started to talk.

“When I took over the title as king, I knew it was going to be a lot of work. But you dear little Draig are a headache,” he said, rubbing his forehead.

“Don’t call me little. I am taller than you.” I said sarcastically.

“But your younger than me.”

“My soul isn’t younger than you,” I said.

“True, that was a surprise when we found out you were a reincarnate. that thrown all our original plans we had for you out of the window.” He said, looking at me with his golden eyes.

“Original plans? Might you inform what they were?” I said with a raised eyebrow.

“Yeah, sure. We were planning to rehab you until you were fine. then Dean would personally train you, and I would send out a marriage proposal for you to become Queen.” He said making me confuse.

“What? Marriage? Why would you want to go that far?”

“You suffered because of decisions the royal family made. So, if you join the family, you would be able to fix those kinds of problems.” He explains with no hesitation.

“But I would have been a primordial nun the less. I could just use force to fix the problems.”

“That’s true, but I had enough faith in the Draig family to make you not so aggressive un stupid.” He said, making me laugh.

“What about using Soul ling on me? you forgot to mention that?” I asked, remembering what mom said.

“Yes, that, we had a big debate about it. Like you know, Soul link can alter people’s memories, but those are false memories. So, the memories we gave that person can be destroyed if he gets stronger and older. Of course, this is why we were original against it because that would break the trust you had for us. But we could also not leave you to remember you dying. We concluded to make it seems like you were saved before you died.” He spoke.

“Huh, not that it’s relevant anymore. But if I weren’t a reincarnation, I would have still trusted you guys probably, and I would have to decline your marriage proposal because I would try to save my race.” I explain.

“That would have been ideal, but as I said, when we tried to alter your memory, we found out you were a reincarnation. that was a giant surprise, and I talked to my younger brother and sister about it, and all they said is let her be. Let her have her way for now until she settles in. So, I went with that, but then Stacy came, and force adopted you. I didn’t really care that they adopted you, but she went to the border where we can’t keep an eye on you.”

“ha-ha, that sounds like mom,” I said, laughing.

“Yeah, but it all worked out. You didn’t run to any other kingdom.” He said, making me raise an eyebrow at him.

“Let me get this straight I am not loyal to the kingdom. I just hate the other kingdoms more.’

“I know, don’t worry, I am not going to force you to do anything, but we will have to make a deal between each other,” He said, getting serious.
