The Strongest Assassin Reincarnates in Another World

Chapter 370 - The Mines

As a deal was currently in the process of being formed, Aiden was still focusing on the task ahead of him. He knew that the moment was approaching and he needed things to work.

Because, this time, he would only have one chance at doing this, if he failed again. Then it would be over, nothing would happen ever again.

'If I fail this time, it will probably be the end, my end…' Aiden thought as he knew that the director needed to drink that potion for things to go well.

He had planned something that would surely work, however, there were always some problems along the way. Aiden had already tasted them when he had tried to assassinate the director the first time.

However, this time he wouldn't be handing a drink, or any drink for that matter, as soon as he would enter this place he would get affected.

'Let's just hope that it doesn't affect me too,' Aiden thought as he had taken a few precautions, but still, there was nothing too sure.

"He should be getting here soon enough," Aiden mumbled as he went toward the darkness.

He had made sure that everything would work, from the equipment to the way that it would be activated.

If everything went according to plan, the director would be leaving this place without a head, or rather, without his life whatsoever. It would be his end altogether.

A few moments later, Aiden was still waiting patiently, not moving the slightest inch, patiently waiting for someone to come to him. There was still no one, but Aiden hoped that a one point there would be.

Things were getting doll as Aiden was only sitting, waiting for his prey. There was nothing else that he could prepare, everything would be perfect from start to finish, at least, that's what he hoped.

'However, I don't need hope… I need to make sure that everything works out perfectly. I don't have room for any mistakes anymore, I got lucky enough to get away once.'\\

While Aiden was having those thoughts, Evelynn was talking with the director at his desk, having quite an interesting conversation.

"You aren't lying to me, right?" The director asked as he couldn't help but be confused as to why she would come all the way here to tell him.

"Of course, I'm not lying. I just want to help you, I'm telling the truth, Aiden really contacted me, he needed my help from what he said," Evelynn said, trying to sound as convincing as possible.

There was no room for any errors.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"How did he contact you? Did he tell you where he was?" David asked right away as he knew how to seize an opportunity that would present itself.

Evelynn cracked a small smile, happy that her lies had worked. However, that smile quickly disappeared from her face since she couldn't get caught here.

"He told me the general location, it was close to the mines, and he told me that he would be waiting there for me," Evelynn told him with the most serious face that she could muster at the moment.

The director became pensive right away as he hadn't expected such an answer. "The mines? Are you sure?"

Evelynn didn't back down for a single moment, "That's what he told me."

The director nodded as he knew that he couldn't teleport there right away because there were so many mines and they were really big.

He would make sure to act with some discretion, and Aiden would probably watch people entering the mines.

'That boy isn't stupid after all. He probably knew the risks of contacting her and took measures against it.'

However, the director couldn't be more wrong with the assessment that he had given. Aiden wasn't waiting for him, observing everyone that would enter the mines. He was waiting in the mines for him, he was about to face him.

"Alright, let's leave."

The director decided there was no time to waste, the more time the two of them waited. The more time that Aiden would have to escape and live a peaceful life, and that wasn't an option inside the mind of the director.

'It worked!' Evelynn thought, celebrating in her mind, before putting on a confused expression.

"You want me to come with you? Why?"

The director rolled his eyes and quickly explained it to her.

"You're the bait, you're the one who will bring him out. You being there will make things a lot easier."

The director knew that having Aiden's lover around, it would make things a lot more difficult for him, and he couldn't wait to see the flushed face on Aiden's face.

The director remembered the expression that was on Garestsa's face, she had been so scared. Her mouth had been wide open, her eyes still wide open. She had been terrified and the director would make sure that Aiden would feel the exact same way.

He wasn't going there to imprison him. He was going there to kill him, and he would make Aiden suffer.

'Even if I liked him, the choices that he made are unacceptable and he needs to pay for what he did."

"Enough time wasted, let's go," the director said as he opened a small portal that would make them closer to the mines.

"After you," David said as he asked her to walk through the portal first.

He wouldn't make the same mistake this time. He would make sure to protect any person that was with him around that crazy person.

'I made a mistake and that resulted in someone dying while I was gone… Never again, it will never happen again. I don't want to see such a thing ever again.'

It had been traumatizing for the director who hadn't experienced killing all that much. The Magic City was a peaceful one, after all, the director preferred killing monsters left and right instead of actual people.

He found the other practice distasteful, however, if he needed to… he would use it, and he would use it very well.

"Let's check the mines that are on this side first," the director said to Evelynn as he pointed toward the right side.

David knew that he needed to act fast as he didn't want to get spotted by Aiden who was probably lurking around, waiting for him.

Normally, David would have split the task between her and him, but he knew that he couldn't take such a risk. However, he had decided that Evelynn would be the one to enter first.

That way she would be the one that Aiden would be spotting first and that was exactly what she wanted.

"What are you waiting for? Let's go!" The director said putting some pressure on her.

Evelynn however kept acting scared, showing that she didn't want to die.

"Y-You aren't going to let me die, right?"

She acted as scared as possible, her voice shaking, her body shaking… She wanted to show the director how much stress she was currently feeling at the moment.

"I would never, never again!" The director exclaimed as he made sure to reassure her. He wouldn't explain to her the full details, but she just had to know that David would never let something like this repeat itself ever again.

"A-Alright, can you give me some light, that way I can see where I'm going," Evelynn asked as she calmed down. Her voice still somewhat shaking.

If Aiden was able to see this, he would be impressed by her acting skills. He would even admit that they were much better than his.

If she had been the one there on the hill, instead of Garestsa, it would have been a completely different situation and Aiden would have probably been able to kill him.

But what was done, was done…

"Sure thing, here," David replied with a smile as he was trying to reassure her to the best of his abilities. That was the goal here.

Evelynn thanked him and started walking down. She already knew that he wasn't in this mine and that he was actually on the left side. However, that wasn't something that she could really say to the director, or else, it would be extremely weird.

A few minutes later, they had reached the bottom of the cave as they climbed up again and explored another one, reaching the depths of it.

Evelynn knew that it would take a while to reach Aiden which is why she was trying to make things faster by walking down very fast.

She was going so fast, that even the director was surprised by her actions, "No need to feel stressed, just take your time, we'll get there at one point. No need to worry."

David was sure that her behavior was related to the stress that she was currently feeling in the depths of her body. However, what he didn't know was that he couldn't be more wrong at the moment.

"Nothing again," Evelynn exclaimed as she started climbing right away once again. She had heard the director and she acted like she hadn't done so as she simply smiled his way.

"Well, alright, it's you that decides either way."

They started exploring all of the caves, and there was still nothing. In fact, even the director was starting to doubt the information that he had been given by Evelynn, it was strange, however, he didn't say anything yet because there were still around 5 entrances or so left.

'Just why did he pick the right side, Aiden was the first cave on the left,' Evelynn thought frustrated that she needed to explore every cave when she knew that there was nothing inside.
