“I’m your lawyer, I can only speak on your behalf and not comment about other people,” Yu Zi said.

Jiang Changdai finally nodded her head. Yu Zi answered the call, and heard the reporter asking, “Is this Ms. Jiang?”

Yu Zi smiled slightly and replied, “Hello, I’m Ms. Jiang’s lawyer, Yu Zi, and I am authorized to speak on her behalf. You can speak to me regarding her matters.”

The reporter’s eyes brightened. He turned around and to look at his peers, feeling confident that there was a story to be told. If what Lu Zhenting said was true, why did Jiang Changdai hurriedly engage a lawyer?

Lu Zhenghang heard the reply from the phone. His facial expression turned ugly. He knew Yu Zi’s identity. Jiang Changdai seeking for a lawyer was already unexpected, what more the lawyer was Yu Zi, what was she trying to do!

The reporter asked, “Lawyer Yu, hello. Are you aware of the press conference that Mr. Lu Zhenghang organized today?”

Yu Zi turned on the speaker function on the phone so Jiang Changdai could listen in. She replied, “Ms. Jiang also just found out about it. You know who I am. Ms. Jiang thought of me immediately and engaged me to help her manage this matter. Ms. Jiang was shocked by what Mr. Lu had said and she does not know why he would say such things. Ms. Jiang is very sure that Mr. Lu Zhenghang is hers and Mr. Lu Zhenting’s son.”

“Does that mean Ms. Jiang does not deny that she had committed adultery?” The reporter continued to ask.

Yu Zi’s eyes narrowed and said, “There was such an incident but Huaiyuan has already passed away for many years. We respect the deceased and wish for him to rest in peace and not be disturbed and as such, we do not want to discuss more on this matter. I am speaking this as his family member, and not as Ms. Jiang’s lawyer and we appealed for your understanding in this matter.”

She continued, “Today’s focus is discussing Mr. Lu Zhenghang’s identity and if what Mr. Lu Zhenting said was true. Ms. Jiang said that whatever Mr. Lu Zhenting had said, she did not do it and did not say it. If Mr. Lu were to insist, she will reserve the right to take legal action. If Mr. Lu Zhenghang stands by his words, Old Master Yan and Old Lady Yan from the Yan Family can do a paternity test with Mr. Lu. Intergenerational paternity tests can still be accurate. Ms. Jiang does not understand why the two gentlemen involved her in this matter. She wronged Huaiyuan before, and do not wish to do it again.”

Jiang Changdai bit her lips as if she was not happy with what Yu Zi had said. She was about to open her mouth to speak when Yu Zi signaled with her eye and a bodyguard went up to muffle her mouth.

Jiang Changdai was still trying to speak but could not do so being muffled.

“This is Ms. Jiang’s stand. I’m sorry but I have other matters to attend to, and I will have to end this call now,” Yu Zi said and hung up.

Yan Huaian seemed to know as his call came in shortly after she hung up.

“I’m at Yan Hui. This happened so suddenly so I’m here to pacify the shareholders. Everything is okay here,” Yan Huaian said.

He rushed to the company as soon as he found out about the issue. Yan Beicheng was not around so he would need to stabilize the company.

Lin Chu also heard Yu Zi’s replies. Old Master Yan and Old Lady Yan nodded their heads in satisfaction.

Lu Zhenghang felt anxious and wanted to retort but nobody was at the end of the line anymore. Lin Chu called Yan Beicheng, and it was answered very quickly.

Yan Beicheng did not wait for Lin Chu to speak first and said, “I know what happened. Tell the two elders to not worry. I’m on the way back with Wen Ren and we will head to the press conference directly.”

That meant he has evidence. Lin Chu heaved a sigh of relief. After hanging up, she explained to the two elders.

“This child, he knew about this earlier and did not tell us. He should have given us a heads up,” Old Lady Yan muttered.

Lin Chu knew she was not blaming them, and pretended to act guilty and apologized, “We did not take proper consideration.”

“Just continue pretending,” Old Lady Yan laughed. “It’s alright, you guys were being filial and did not want us to worry and if we knew about it, we would be angry and would want to solve this ourselves. It was just that this happened so suddenly, and it was quite a shock for us. At least give us a heads-up next time,” she said.

Lin Chu obediently agreed to it.

...

At this moment, Shao Huai was driving Yan Beicheng to Lu Zhenghang’s press conference site entrance. A car followed behind, with Chai Yu driving Wen Ren and family in it. Another car was behind, with Hao Donghuai driving Fang Boran, Yuan Jiangyi and Wei Wucai in it.

The three cars stopped in front of the center’s entrance. Other than Yan Beicheng’s Grand Cherokee, the other two cars were not as distinctive and were normal sedans.

Yan Beicheng’s car was not that conspicuous in B City, it was also not a very expensive car. It was so how it was driven by Yan Beicheng. Those experienced would recognize his car and remember his car plate number, and if they feel oddly in awe when seeing the car. This was not the car complementing the person, but rather, the person complementing the car.

Wen Ren alighted from the car and got Fang Jiaran and Wen Ming to wait in the car for him. His son was stupidly cute and only knew how to smile and laugh when meeting people. Today was a day for serious business, it was better not to let this stupidly cute guy spoil the mood for the day.

However, he would want to bring Wen Xu along. The generally expressionless Wen Xu would soon turn 9 years old, and it was about time to bring him to see the world. Wen Ren waved his hand at Wen Xu and said, “Son, let’s go. Follow me to see the world.”

Wen Xu looked at him silently. He turned his head to Wen Ming, who was sitting in Fang Jiaran’s lap and smiling stupidly showing off his little teeth, and said, “Be a good boy and wait in the car, I’ll bring you nice things to eat when I return.”

Wen Ming swallowed his slipping drool. His little mouth opened wide and salivated even more.

Fang Jiaran understood her young son very well. She had put on a bib on his neck when they left the house, and now she was holding it to wipe his mouth clean from the drool.

Wen Ming wriggled in Fang Jiaran’s lap, his two chubby hands trying to grab Wen Xu as he babbled, “Eat, together! Together!”

He thought Wen Ren was bringing Wen Xu to eat delicious food and not bringing him along.

Wen Xu took out a lollipop from his pocket and gave it to Wen Ming. He explained, “I’m not going to eat good food, I have serious business to attend to.”

Wen Ren squinted at Wen Xu and lectured him, “This is not a serious business, it’s just a small matter. We are giving face to the Lu Family by taking up this matter.”

Standing by the side, Yan Beicheng rolled his eyes and looked up at the sky.

Fang Boran had his people blocked the center’s main entrance. If Wen Ren was wasting his time here, it would be good to block the entrance first so Lu Zhenghang would not be able to escape.

Wen Xu listened attentively and nodded his head. It was unclear if Wen Xu understood but he followed his brother and nodded his head too, “Small matter! Small matter!”

Wen Xu unwrapped the lollipop’s wrapping paper and passed the candy to Wen Ming, telling him, “You be good, stay here and eat the candy.”

Lil Wen Ming’s mouth was too small and could not put the whole lollipop into his mouth. He sucked the lollipop slowly but firmly, his tender lips turned red and swelled and his cheeks were stuffed. He licked his lips with his tongue, rested a while and continued to suck the candy.

Seeing how his son could be pacified so easily, Wen Ren felt disconsolate. He glanced at Wen Xu again and entered the building with Yan Beicheng and the others.

“Yu Zi is from the Yan Family. It may not be appropriate for her to be Ms. Jiang’s lawyer as she might represent the Yan Family too and will not acknowledge me. Her words just now might not be what Ms. Jiang wanted to say, she might be forced by the Yan Family to do so,” Lu Zhenghang was speaking to the group of reporters.

“Wow, it’s so lively in here!” Wen Ren’s loud and arrogant voice suddenly sounded.

The younger reporters did not recognize him, but the experienced and senior reporters did and were shocked. They turned around and upon seeing Wen Ren, quickly had their photographers and cameramen shoot him.

Yan Beicheng strode to Lu Zhenghang, his black eyes lowered slightly and looked at the three pieces of ‘evidence’ on the table with disdain.

He turned around and in his calm and low voice, said, “Mr. Lu showed three paternity test reports. It’s a coincidence that I have some here as well.”

Yan Beicheng reached out his hand. Shao Huai handed him a document folder, he took one report out and handed it to the reporters off stage, allowing them to read and share it amongst themselves and take photos of it.

“This is Lu Zhenghang and Jiang Changdai’s paternity test report, confirming that they are mother and son. This is the same as what Lu Zhenghang showed earlier,” Yan Beicheng said lightly. He took out another document and gave it out before continuing, “This report is Lu Zhenghang and Lu Zhenting’s paternity test report, it shows that they are father and son beyond all doubt.”

Lu Zhenghang shouted in agitation, “Your report is fake!”

“You are something!” Wen Ren laughed, standing by the side. “What you showed is authentic, but what others showed is fake. What if yours is the fake one? Besides, who would dare to say that the evidence provided by the Wen Family is fake?”

Hearing the name Wen Family, Lu Zhenghang’s pupils contracted and dilated rapidly.

“Putting aside on how we got the evidence, you can verify if the report is authentic. If you don’t believe it, Lu Zhenghang and Lu Zhenting can do another paternity test with everybody monitoring the process of it,” Wen Ren said. He then called out, “Boran, you can come and do the talking.”

Fang Boran walked to the front and faced everybody. “Hello everybody, I’m Fang Boran and I’m sure some of you might have heard of me before.”

A reporter exclaimed, “It’s Fang Boran, he’s the renowned Head of Intelligence for the Wen Family and has helped T City’s police solved a lot of major crime cases!”

“You are overstating things,” Fang Boran said lightly. He started to report, “Lu Zhenghang, bornt on 16 March 1987 at 2149 hours in Ji Qi Hospital. The doctor who helped Ms. Jiang with the delivery was Liu De Wei, who is now Ji Qi Hospital’s Vice President. Lu Zhenghang weighed six pounds and eight ounces during birth. He studied at Ning City’s Hai De Si Nursery School under a dual language education system, did his primary education at Hai De Si Primary School and continued at Hai De Si Corporation’s Middle School. After graduation, he went to England to complete his high school studies. Later on, he was accepted into the Alliance Manchester Business School in London. He returned to the country after 10 years and worked in Xing Chuang Corporation. He came to B City last year and was appointed to be the President for Xing Chuang Entertainment Company, a subsidiary of Xing Chuang Corporation.”

Lu Zhenghang had a dark look on his face. It was not strange for them to investigate him thoroughly, but for them to also find out his exact birth details was a bit scary.

“Lu Zhenting’s blood type is A, Jiang Changdai’s blood type is B and Lu Zhenghang’s blood type is A. However, Yan Huaiyuan’s blood type was O so Lu Zhenghang can’t be Yan Huaiyuan’s son. It is very easy to do a blood type test and results would be immediate,” Fang Boran said and glanced coldly at Lu Zhenghang.

Lu Zhenghang’s hands were tightly clenched. Fang Boran sneered coldly.

Lu Zhenghang initially was able to prepare better, but he was pressed for time and his plan was disrupted. He was anxious to make a move and hence revealed all the loopholes.

“The identification center that Lu Zhenghang did the paternity test reports is in Ning City. This afternoon, the center’s Manager Wong has been detained by the police for accepting bribery to create fake reports. Police investigations into Manager Wong’s phone records showed that Lu Zhenghang was in contact with him; later, 500,000 was deposited into Manager Wang’s bank account. The payer’s name was Lu Weining, who is Lu Zhenghang’s sister. The police also found the original report in digital format in Manager Wong’s computer. The original report results are the exact opposite of what Lu Zhenghang showed you all just now,” Fang Boran continued speaking.

“How do you explain Lu Zhenghang and Yan Huaiyuan’s report?” A reporter asked.

That report was yellowed with age and looked very old.

Yan Beicheng took out another report from the document folder. It looked as aged as the one that Lu Zhenghang produced. He said, “This is the same report of Lu Zhenghang and Lu Zhenting’s paternity test, except that I got somebody to make it look aged. You can take a look, it is exactly the same as the one just now, right down to the test date and report date.

The reporters compared both documents and now believed Yan Beicheng’s words more.

“If Mr. Lu is still unwilling, we can always do another test; but this time it would be done openly and not dictated by you,” Yan Beicheng sneered as he looked at Lu Zhenghang.

Wen Ren grinned and said, “Young man, I admire your determination and courage to want to change your family, but it is not good to not acknowledge your biological father, right? The Lu Family may be poor, but a dog doesn’t frown on their own poor family!”

Lu Zhenghang’s long face was more contorted than ever in fury, Wen Ren was implying that he was a dog!

“If you are competent, you would be capable to strengthen your family on your own. Stop thinking of ways to deceive other people’s properties and assets,” Fang Boran said coldly, looking at Lu Zhenghang with scorn.

“Speaking of which, Mr. Lu, I am also planning to sue you and Lu Zhenting for fraud and deceive. You can wait for the lawyer’s letter,” Yan Beicheng said as he smiled lightly.

Compared to how casual and comfortable he looked, Lu Zhenghang’s face contorted uglier. He had lost all his dignity, credibility and face.

The reporters aroused with excitement again. They rushed forward to photograph and shoot Lu Zhenghang close-up, their cameras clicking non-stop.

“No! I did not lie! I did not lie!” Lu Zhenghang denied fervidly. However, nobody was listening to him at all already.

...

At the hospital, Jiang Changdai and Yu Zi were not aware that the issue has been resolved. The internet connection was not very smooth. It could be as the news had spread online, more and more people logged in to watch and hence slowing down the connection line.

Due to the lagging internet line, there were echoes when the reporter called her and it had affected the conversation, hence Yu Zi switched off the video.

After Yu Zi ended the call and turned on the video again, it buffered non-stop and they could not watch it.

Jiang Changdai was extremely nervous and could not sit still. The caregiver who was by Yan Zhiqing’s side suddenly shouted.

Yu Zi looked over in surprise. The caregiver was pointing at Yan Zhiqing and stammering in excitement, “I saw...I saw Ms. Yan’s eyes moved!”

Yu Zi and Aunt Chen stepped forward together. Jiang Changdai also rushed to the side of the bed excitedly. Everybody’s attention was on Yan Zhiqing and nobody bothered about Jiang Changdai.

Yu Zi stared at Yan Zhiqing’s face. Yan Zhiqing’s eyelids seemed to move, her eyeballs seemed to be rolling. Almost immediately, everybody saw her eyelashes fluttered.

“Zhiqing!” Yu Zi grabbed Yan Zhiqing’s hand as she continued to stare at her anxiously. “Are you awake? Try hard to open your eyes, try hard!”

As soon as she finished speaking, she felt Yan Zhiqing’s hands move. She lowered her head to take a good look, Yan Zhiqing’s pinky finger which was on her thumb trembled and tapped twice.

Yu Zi was so delighted that her face brightened. She turned around to instruct Aunt Chen, “Hurry! Get the doctor quickly!”

Aunt Chen hurriedly acknowledged and ran out fast. She was so anxious that she stumbled and almost fell. She managed to balance herself in time and ran quickly again.

There was a call bell at the head of the bed. They could have pressed the bell but the ones who would come would be the nurse and she would have to inform the doctor too. It would be faster if they got the doctor themselves and not waste any time. Besides, everybody was so excited that they forgot about the call bell’s existence. Their only thought was to run and called for the doctor.

The doctor and the nurse arrived quickly in two minutes with Aunt Chen following behind. By that time, Yan Zhiqing had already opened her eyes and woke up. She looked dazed, and as she just woke up, she seemed to be slightly confused and her eyes were not focused.
