The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 488

Chapter 488: Revealed

“Don’t make assumptions, Olivia. I never said that I’m interested in seeing you in any grave position. I’m simply here to talk. Is there any crime to talk with you?”

“Yes!” Olivia was enraged with the dead fear.

Even horror filled her face, getting paler with each sentence that hit her head. “I don’t want anyone to catch us here.”

Hearing this, Austin’s eyes had furrowed. There was the takeoff frustration but on top of that, he can’t help but wonder too, “Is that soo?”

In return, Olivia gave a solid nod but it only raised his brows, “Then why Are you here? Aren’t we together right now? Don’t you stand here and talk too? Just outside of your office it is.”

“You...” At the realization, Olivia couldn’t help but shake her head.

He is playing mind games with her. Noting that he twisted her intentions badly, she was prompted to show her furious side too. “I’m here because I was afraid that if someone asks you who you are, then you might say my name.”

.....

“I don’t want my name to be associated with you, it’s that simple. Can you get this inside your brain, Austin?” Olivia’s yelling voice didn’t make him buy her words.

In his eyes, she was only overreacting to get safeguard, and out of the position.

Moreover, her breath had been getting heavier with the passage of time. If she was simply here to let him go away, why was there a need to give the explanation that he hadn’t demanded yet?

Austin tugged his hands in the pocket before he told, “Listen, Olivia, you are just overreacting. You can always make up any excuse if Lucas asks you. And now, you aren’t even working for him. Then what are you worried about?”

Giving Austin an aside glance, Olivia had folded her hands in front of her chest, “Oh really?”

“Yes. You are giving too much importance to Lucas and his thoughts. You’re not reporting to him but to Jack so worry about him, rather than thinking about what Lucas even if he sees both of us together.”

At this point, Olivia had no idea how she managed to tackle her own sentiments.

They were falling like a tsunami. Even her blood raged just at the sight of him.

The thought of being caught had only reduced her willingness to even face him.

And how can she effortlessly forget the incident at her home?

When a stranger had attacked her too badly. Where she was on the edge of losing her precious life....

Even recalling the incident brought the uncertain goosebumps on her skin which urged her to show her mind and remove such old memories.

“Listen Austin, I don’t want any interference. I work for you as the detective and that is the sole role I have so just keep it to that. I have nothing to talk about anymore..and I’m returning back.”

“Just the role of the detective? Just? Is your memory fading away or..do you need my help to recover it?” A scoff had left Austin’s mouth on hearing her words.

“Hah, then now you will say you don’t even know me in front of others. Is that right?’ Austin’s mind could realize how defensive she worked.

No, she wasn’t afraid that others might find it out.

But more prior to that, she was afraid her past would unfold in front of others like any other shattered glass.

Her image will be tarnished and the reputation may befall her face could be almost negligible to hold back.

But Olivia’s eyes were hostile, making her want to shrink into the deep hole and never appear again, “You and...I..are an old tale, Austin.”

“We were never a tale, to begin with, Olivia.” hearing this, Olivia’s teeth gritted against each other.

She had to hold herself back, with the number of creases formed in between her brows. She could feel not able to tear her gaze off.

Instead of experiencing outrageousness for him, she can sense herself plagued with the pain and thorns in her heart.

Her eyes blinked twice to not let the streams outflow from those hollow gazes.

“You are correct...we were seriously not even a tale..” A bitter smile curved.

Along with that, a soft chuckle left when she buried her head with those thoughts. Over the period of time, she could sense herself digging her own grave while talking with him.

Taking a few steps back without shifting her focus from his figure, Olivia kept on shaking her head.

She was herself in a dreadful state to ask him to pass her comfort.

And maybe the terror of being caught was at its peak which caused her to take such movements. ‘Going near you..will destroy me, Austin..’

Being destroyed by the same hands whom she had feelings for once was the last thing she would like to witness.

Taking a deep breath, Olivia had gulped the saliva present in her mouth before she finally turned around to show her back to Austin and walk back in the direction of her company.

Whereas, Austin had simply noted her absence.

Knowing how angry she was, didn’t leave the heartache either. ‘She is still angry..and stubborn..’

Not ready to accept her own past was the biggest wall she kept. Her resistance to him made his heart crumble down into pieces.

Similarly, he lowered his head to gaze at the road. Without wasting a single moment, he stepped inside his car to speed up and leave the area for once and all...

Meanwhile, Olivia stepped back to her assistant who completed her work. Taking all the papers and wiping away the soaked tears, Olivia managed to deliver the paper to her desk of Jack. Since he was too busy to give her a glance, he simply asked her to keep the paper at the desk and after that, Olivia walked out to take a deep sigh.

But her heart was overwhelmed with the emotions that were surging into the temporary place in her heart.

Not thinking twice, Olivia sneaked back to her cabin as a deep breath escaped from her lips.

But then the next voice and the words made Olivia feel the world behind her shaking up, “You and Austin..you both know each from before, don’t you, Olivia?”
