The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 473

Chapter 473: Introduction!

Everything was hard to digest but it was ultimately lying in front of him. Charles knew that he had to believe each word, each sentence since it holds immense power in them.

Not only does he realize that his father had played the role of the villain in his love story but...was this the only reason for her to get away from him? her family’s rebellion...he can’t even expect it.

“Was this the same reason why she had quit her job as my secretary?”

“Correct. She was asked to leave you and go away no matter what. That is what she did. Leaving you and...going back from where she came.” Jack answered honestly but erased the brows of Charles who had hardly recovered from his emotions.

There were tears on the brink of falling from the eyes but Charles had to manage to not let them fall via his cheeks.

The turn of the sentiments was deeper than any other pain. “But where did she even go.....?”

“To her own family?” Charles asked, almost not believing his own words. That was the last place she should actually visit.

.....

How can he easily forget that her family is also a well-known family from the other corner of their state? However, since Sierra wanted to do something of her own, she had decided to step out from her family. Her mother had died when she was fifteen and her father had remarried.

Despite being the sole child of her father, she was never welcomed into the same family. To avoid her scheming mother, Sierra always measures to never step back into that household.

The time she left that home, her furious father had given her an ultimatum. ‘If you come back here, remember that you will have to marry where I asked you to.’ And this was easily embedded in his brain.

‘I promised to never let you go....’ Charles gulped the saliva present in his mouth to recall the times. In this lifetime, all Sierra asked was to be happy with her family.

And probably, this was the very reason she was eager to get married to her own wish.

At this point. Charles’s jaw had tightened and the eyes curved into a narrow glint. “Her family....her father must have been very angry with her, right?”

“He mocked her because she did something they all wanted her to do. Sierra returned back to the same house with her heavy heart. As you already know earlier in time, Sierra had tried to convince her father as well on phone calls to accept you.”

“But her father always considered you to be a bad influence on his daughter so..” Jack didn’t realize they need to finish his sentence since it was very well known to both of them how her father was.

He was a dominating personality, carrying a partial mindset. No one actually remembered how things changed but they did, and Sierra was left to take shelter under his home.

No one knew how Charles sensed at this moment. The numb eyes, raced heart, and the curled fingers....

Whereas, Jack had constantly shown his calm, despite the level of coldness he omitted. “This was all that happened when she left you. Days after she had come back into her household, her father had arranged her wedding....”

“....and the groom he selected was you.” Charles completed the sentence, to get the nod from Jack.

“I was told that the bride is willing to marry anyone else. Initially, that’s what I thought but I had kept my condition to have the talk with her personally.” Jack’s words seemed genuine in Charles’ eyes, as he realized that even Jack’s voice was turning to be heavier with the time.

As if, there was an uncalled pian hiding behind this calm and absolute silent nature.

Subconsciously, Charles raised his head in Jack’s direction to look at the towering man whose lips moved like any other robot.

He was standing there emotionlessly. “So....you talked with Sierra before your marriage?”

“I did.... and I’m grateful I did because many things got cleared at that point, in her room.”

*FLASHBACK*

The young Jack was wearing formals when he had visited Sierra’s house for the very first time with his parents and his brother.

However, when he asked to meet Sierra, Jack observed hesitation. Her parents had passed each other glances before they replied back, “Sierra is a bit, shy lady. If you don’t mind...”

“I can go and see her myself if that is the case but I would like to meet her first of all.” Jack had kept the condition first, but with the softness. His gentle words at least made her parents have the energy to guide him to Sierra’s room.

Standing in front of Sierra’s room, Sierra’s step-mother gazed at the door and then at Jack, ‘”She is inside..but maybe not in the wonderful condition. I hope you won’t.. mind that.”

“I will. I will come after I’m done talking with her.” Jack told, to which she smiled and left Jack alone in front of the door.

Taking a deep breath, Jack raised his hand to knock on the door to hear the sound from inside, “Come in.” was all he heard and without delay, Jack had silently opened the door of the room to find the lack of light inside the room.

Straightaway, his eyes went to the floor where the things were scattered. The blankets were all over the ground and the half blanket was on the bed.

And there was a lady, who sat near the window of their room like any dead human being.

At the first glance, only Jack knew how his heart skipped a beat at such a sight. “Sierra...”

“Hmm?” Sierra didn’t reply, and neither did she raise her head. Her actions made Jack a bit cautious but he went on to introduce himself.

“It’s me, Jack Shen....the one..”

“.... who is here to marry me..”
