The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 467

Chapter 467: Promise of Divorce

Whereas, on the other hand, Sierra had fully recovered from her injuries. The shock and the people never contacted her again, and she was grateful for that.

Until this time, she had no clue if they did, how she was going to handle the different things. Just a single incident and her memory were already filled with the trauma to undergo. However, for her children, Sierra knew perfectly that she needed to act as if nothing had happened. Otherwise, her children will be super alarmed and raise questions that would hardly be answered.

To avoid raising suspicions, Sierra had tried to maintain her regular life as per her day. Yet she had avoided going out from her own home, in the thought maybe danger was lingering around. Finding herself in the grave situation again and knowing that Charles can’t save her was distressful.

But, after saving her last time, Charles hasn’t shown his face to Sierra even once. She won’t deny that there was the tinge of heartbreak, but with the same, she was used to his cold memory. They particularly shared no relationship anymore for him to even show care for her...

Currently, Sierra was sitting near her window to the lookout. There, she saw the balcony and how small pigeons were coming and birds sitting on the railings. With her coffee in her hand and Sierra simply smiled at herself since the evening was already dwelling over.

While her children were playing in their rooms, she had time for herself to introspect the situation in which she was doing right now. Her children’s life is in danger, her husband is the target of the enemies group, and she? Who is she? Sierra Shen in everyone’s eyes..

While different patterns drew in her mind, subconsciously, Sierra had lowered her eyes. She peaked at her own hand before the doorbell of her apartment rang.

.....

Straightaway, her gaze shifted to strike at the door, with a frown curved on her forehead. ‘Who can be there at this time?’ she was all clueless. She hadn’t called anywhere out here and surely, Charles won’t show up either since he must be busy with this official work. The presence confused her but without delaying it further, Sierra stood on her toes to take the slow steps.

There, before opening the door she had peaked through the door mirror. Unfortunately, she found no one from there, causing turbulence in her heart. At this point, she had to take a deep breath to calm her nerves to finally open the door, “Y-You.....”

“What are you doing here!?!”

Sierra’s mouth fell half, with the paleness spreading instantly. The wide eyes and the clenched hand on the knob indicated how dumbly she stood there. In front of her eyes was her husband...who was supposed to be abroad!

“Jack...y-you......are...”

“I’m real if you are thinking that this is your illusion. I’m here, Sierra, my wife.” A tall man, with a deep attractive voice, answered. He was relatively tall, wearing a black formal and the coat which was tugged with the white shirt. There the bright grin plastered on his face, with his hands already tucked inside his pockets.

But when his gaze noted that Sierra had already fallen silent and stood there in a daze, his brows lifted upwards, “You don’t look happy on seeing me..”

“H-Huh? What?” Sierra shook her head to pull herself out of the daze. “What did you say? And what! What are you doing here?!”

“I think the rest of the talks can be done inside the house as well, Sierra.” his words pulled upon her that she hadn’t even offered him to step inside. Immediately, Sierra stepped aside and gave him space to come into her apartment.

With The same pride and attitude, Jack Shen stepped inside of her apartment where Sierra instantly closed the door and locked it behind his arrival. Letting anyone else learn about this arrival in the states was the last thought that had drawn on her mind.

Meanwhile, Jack had comfortably sat on the couch, to notice that there was the leftover coffee present on the table. “You were drinking coffee?”

“Y-yeah. I was just..relaxing since children are playing inside the room for now.” Sierra muttered in her breath, finding it hard to not imagine her feelings.

He was here, her husband was here after years....they haven’t stepped inside the state since their marriage. It was a pact she made, and there was no scope of ending it. But his arrival shattered thousands of emotions in her brain to convince her heart that nothing was true.

Sierra simply took a seat nearby him on his couch to keep her hand on her lap and lowered her head. “Why are you here, Jack? Don’t you know that they are actually looking forward to having you here?”

“Didn’t I tell you that I will come to you after whatever that happened?” Jack’s reply brought the memories back when he had solidly told her that he had plans to come to the states. At that point, due to Charles’ presence, Sierra had neglected the thought and considered it to be simply a bluff.

Yet this cost her a lot...he is finally here..

Taking a deep breath, first of all, Sierra tried to gain her composure which was already breaking the barriers. It was harder of all to not let her brain run wild but her heart betrayed her to question more.

“Jack, we both know that this isn’t safe for you. Your arrival here...they will surely use it against you. Please, Jack, return back... I can manage events here.” Sierra almost pleaded in her sincere voice.

Whereas, Jack was unmoved. He had kept his back on the couch while jerking his head off for some time, before snapping his eyes close to Sierra’s direction. His gaze was fierce, almost ready to gulp her. “My aim isn’t to add any more tension upon you, Sierra.”

“What do you mean by this?” Sierra once again questioned.

“I’m here to finally settle the scores. The promise you asked from me, I think it is the time to stand on it and give you the divorce.”
