Chapter 70: Headless Corpse

Chapter 70: Headless Corpse

The whole group watched as the black flames consumed the monster. The scorching inferno is selective with its target as, the evolved form of Allesiah has better control over mana flow. Hence, the [Dark Spheres] she added to the meteor actually had an effect of selectively burning the target and, will not stop until there is nothing left to the enemy but ashes and dust.

Sylvia further strengthened this using the stacked-up mana within her staff, feeding more mana into the flames to the point that, it could be described as something close to the flames of the underworld.

Right after firing this spell, the two elves focused on fortifying the walls even more. The barrier became immune to any burning effect and, an added layer of defensive spells came covered the sturdy looking walls.

"That's some scary looking skills you've combine there." Zeke commented seeing the perfect execution of spells unfold before him.

The [Dragon Hydra] screamed in pain and began hitting multiple parts of the walls. Unfortunately for creature, it could not get out no matter how hard it tried. Even with parts of the wall getting destroyed by its attacks, Sylvia and Sebastian would simply patch this area up. Allesiah will then proceed to placing the fortification spell on the newly restored parts of the wall.

"Don't leave me out of all this fun." Sylph said over the [Voice Chat] and, as soon as she did, Zeke saw three layers of magic circles stacking one after the other. It covered the whole area where the [Dragon Hydra] is.

"Now that I know you're awake, let me show you how much stronger I've become." Sylph continued, sounding like a child showing off a new skill to her parents. Zeke then watched as the arrows shot up to the magic circles one by one. He couldn't identify what types of arrows these are. But, seeing as how they all looked distinct from one another, Zeke figured that these will create different effects.

Zeke then saw what seemed to be lightning pillars shooting out of the magic circle. This is followed by explosions that came from within the walls. The ground shook continuously, making them feel like an earthquake was actually formed. Yet, this is nothing more than an added effect from the explosions that continued viciously.

"Well? What can you say about my attack human?" Sylph said over the [Voice Chat]; obviously fishing for compliments from Zeke.

"Cheeky bastard." Zeke thought to himself, forming a smile on his lips as he watched the combination of all the skill at play.

"It lacks a bit more force. I actually wanted to see more from an elf who already underwent evolution." Zeke replied teasingly.

"You dare mock my archery?" Sylph added, complaining because the current attack actually takes up a lot of effort in order to execute. And, with the mana stored from evolving being depleted, Sylph knows that she can't repeat the attack again.

"I'm kidding. You did a good job, although I believe that you still need to get a hang of properly harnessing all that strength." Was Zeke's truthful answer.

"I'm glad that you feel that way human." Was the closing note of Sylph who felt proud of herself.

Zeke couldn't see the totality of what happened within the walls but, he knew that the [Dragon Hydra] has a high chance of dying from the barrage. As he watched from a distance, Zeke couldn't see any possibility for the beast to come out without sustaining any serious injuries. If worst comes to worst, Zeke thought that there would at least be a considerable amount of damage dealt to the monster.

"I want everyone to focus on the monster we are fighting. Don't let your guard down for even a second." Zeke said, warning everyone about the Hydra which continued screaming.

"What are you talking about? Are you blind human? We've basically got this in the bag." Sylph replied, confident that they would be able to defeat the [Dragon Hydra] without much problem.

Under normal circumstances, Zeke would believe these words. However, Zeke couldn't rest easy as the quest completion is not being notified.

"If the monster is really dead then, I should have received the notification from the system by now." Zeke thought to himself.

At the moment, Sylph's [Rain of Arrows] is still in effect. The sound of the monster's scream could not be heard anymore and, a cloud of dust covered the area, making it impossible for the two sorceress floating above to get a clear view. This is also an issue for Allesiah as, along with the flow of mana, the [Rain of Arrows] actually made the mana around the creature seem all hazy. Yet, they could still distinguish the black glow of the flames which ensured them that the monster is still getting burnt.

Even with all this going on, Zeke can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. That's why he can't wait for Sylph's skill to finally end. And, just as soon as he thought of this, the spell suddenly halted, or ratherit made a different sound.

Flashes of light came out of the clouds of dust and, this viciously rained on the whole area.

"Take cover!" Zeke commanded, taking Harun with her and ensuring that the female servant is safe. There wasn't any thinking needed in order to distinguish that, the things hurling at them are actually the arrows from Sylph's spell.

"Sylph stop you spell immediately!" Zeke commanded, seeing the whole area turn into what seem to be a warzone in a single instant.

"That's not possible! The skill isn't something that can be forced to stop!" Sylph replied, also understanding the situation.

"I think I can find a way through this, please do your best to dodge in the meantime." Allesiah replied, focusing on the three layers of magic circles that have been formed. She looked at the flow of mana, a complex one at that, which constituted the spell.

It is a powerful spell and, disrupting it is not an easy task. However, with the newly evolved Allesiah, this is something feasible at the moment., Hence, Allesiah focused her attention and, with a snap of her fingers, the three magic circles shattered right before everyone's eyes.

Yet this isn't the end of the group's problem. With Allesiah focusing on disrupting the spell, the [Dragon Hydra] finally made its move. The monster quickly used its tail in order to break a part of the wall while everyone was busy dodging the reflected attack.

The creature then proceeded to breathing multiple spells which the group dodged. The two sorceresses finally went to the ground, covering for the group which immediately joined together. As soon as they did, Zeke heard Allesiah's voice in his head.

"There's something weird going on master. The mana of the [Dragon Hydra] is being concentrated at a single point." She began, with Zeke understanding that the telepathy like skill is probably a result of Allesiah's evolution.

As far as Zeke knows, it is only Allesiah who can accurately see the flow of mana. This means that, she'll be the first one to notice any disruption in this flow.

"How bad is it?" Zeke asked through his thoughts, thinking that this is how the skill works.

"The energy from its heads are being cut out one by one. And judging by what's currently happening, the thing that would come next is far worse." Allesiah added

Zeke immediately thought of possible solutions of the problem. As it stands, he currently has 40 skill points left. And, with the pinch that they are in, he might just be forced to buy 'that' skill. Although, Zeke wanted to buy it a later time, specifically, he wants to have that skill when it's finally time to square off against Gallio.

Then, the attack finally began decreasing in intensity. The whole group would've felt relieved if it weren't for Zeke commanding them to be alert. He then gave the next set of command to the group as the two sorceresses held up the front. Zeke knows that it would be too risky for the elves to try an attack while the monster is still breathing out skills.

"Attack as soon as the skills finish firing out. Make sure that you've got each other covered and, I'll try to deliver the finishing blow." Zeke commanded.

The attack took longer than expected. In actuality, the group felt like the [Dragon Hydra] would not cease in its offensive strike. But then, after a few more minutes, it finally did.

There is still a thick cloud of dust covering the monster. This made it difficult for the group to see their opponent but, the same also applies opt the [Dragon Hydra]. However, Zeke's party has the upper hand as they have the [Minimap] function. Hence, they focused their attacks on the big red dot on the map, aiming as accurately as they can. At this, Zeke also made his way away from the group - sprinting using [Quick Step] and, adding to his speed using [Mana Conversion].

"Conjure." Zeke began, summoning all his creatures which also assaulted at different directions.

The tail of the beast soon cam out which destroyed a lot of his conjures all at once but, this is also part of Zeke's calculations.

"Blood Counter" Zeke said, adding more damage to the creature using the amount of damage he received as the monster killed him a while ago. This made blood gush out from parts of the monster and, at this, Zeke knew where to strike.

"Here goes nothing." Zeke began, having the concept all figured out on his head.

He used [Quick Step] in rapid succession planting the blade on the monster's body and immediately proceeding to slicing off bits of its flesh piece by piece. This is an improvised skill which uses up a ton of mana but, is one which Zeke thought to be the most effective against an enemy as large as the [Dragon Hydra].

He continued hitting it over and over again and, together with this are the attacks performed by the group. The massacre continued with Zeke unrelentingly continuing his attacks. One head got decapitated, then two, then, he used [Quick Step] again and sliced off the five heads. This he did until all the heads were cut off entirely.

The monster thrashed its body around, with a rain of blood coming from all the wounds untilit finally dropped to the ground. Everyone saw Zeke coming out from the cloud of smoke and, behind him is the lifeless body of the [Dragon Hydra].

It took a few seconds for everyone to register what just happened. But, with Sylph beginning the shouts of cheers, everyone also woke up to the reality of what happened.

"We did it!" They said, proud of the feat which has just been made.

The game notification also came up which relieved Zeke. The mission is cleared and, at this something important must be noted.

The two servants immediately went to the corpse. They did this in order to gather the materials left by the creature. Zeke, still contemplating on the skill, felt that he could create a lot of improvised skills as time goes on. As was mentioned, Zeke can only focus on a single task at a time which meant that, nothing else existed as Zeke thought of the applications to the skill.

Allesiah also saw how the flow of mana left the body of the creatureand yetwith all this happening, fate seemed to laugh at the group as Zeke's notification came up once again

[The mission is reset.]

Soon after, two objects flying at themcoming from where the [Dragon Hydra's] corpse is. Sylvia shielded the group with ab barrier that created a splat of blood becausewhat came flying at such a high speed, are two elf corpses with their heads removed.
