Chapter 41: The Second Floor!
As they were done sparring now, they just went and sat down by the stream for a while to talk. During this talk, Ark found out a plethora of general things about this world that he never knew before, such as the name of this world, and where he currently was. They also talked about a lot of things that had happened during their lives, and they grew a little bit closer.
Like the day before, Ark's time was running out, and they agreed to go into the dungeon again today before his time ran out completely. This time though, Ark transformed by himself, instead of letting the time run out since he wanted to test something out, with the help of his human body.
The weather on this particular day was exceptional, and splendid rays of lights cascaded down through the dark treetops, even this eerie forest seemed weirdly beautiful at the moment. Both Ark's and Thufrat's moods were very good right now. They had both gotten the chance to talk with each other, and the weather was really good, lighting up their moods, both figuratively and literally.
The air in the forest was a bit more humid compared to normal, and Thufrat's clothes stuck to his body more than usual, accentuating his muscles. As the small rays of light landed on top of Ark as he walked, he seemed to almost glow.
After a small while, they arrived at the cemetery once more, and the undead were back again. This time, however, Ark decided to try something new out. He turned into his human form once more, and Thufrat tossed him a pair of clothes again. He then used his skill [Holy Spear: Dawn] to manifest a spear out of nowhere.
As he felt the cold steel against the palm of his hand, he injected it with a tremendous amount of Mana. This was unlike his usual attacks, where he held himself back, this time, he wanted to try something out after all.
As the spear started to radiate an astonishing oppressive aura, Ark jumped high up into the air and threw it straight at the undead. The spear whistled in the air as it fiercely struck the ground a moment later. The undead didn't get the chance to react as the spear suddenly erupted with an earth-shattering force.
BOOM
From the point the spear struck the ground, a massive explosion took place. This explosion was an impressive radiant-gold in colour and encapsulated the entire cemetery. Not a single undead was spared from this majestic explosion as they were utterly decimated. This attack wasn't simple at all as the wind was sent in all possible directions, escaping from this dreadful power.
Thufrat was astounded, and Ark started to laugh as the wind howled past their faces. The shockwave of the explosion even sent some surrounding trees tumbling down.
He didn't expect this attack to be so powerful! This skill of his seemed to be more powerful than he had anticipated. Fortunately, the cemetery itself didn't seem to be that damaged. Even though it only seemed like an ordinary cemetery, it must have been protected by some sort of magic, at least that's what Ark thought.
Even then, parts of it were still destroyed in that blast. And as Ark noticed this destruction, he could let out a sigh of relief. After all, this meant that he would be able to protect himself more than fine in his human form, that was without his [Envoy Of Holiness] skill after all.
Ark didn't level up even after killing all these undead though, but he didn't really mind, his level was too high for these mobs after all.
As the mobs were all dead, and Ark had test out his strength it was time to head into the dungeon. And since he only wanted to use his last bit of time in his human form if he needed to, he decided to turn back into his wolf form.
Once again, Thufrat put back the clothes into his spatial bag after Ark had transformed back, even though they managed to get a little dirty from laying on the ground for a bit.
...
After arriving outside of the castle once more, the duo was just about to head inside when they both noticed a passage that seemed to have opened up in the wall of the cave behind it. This passage wasn't there before, and they could both guess that this was because of them clearing this floor.
Since the whole point of this trip was to go to the second floor of the dungeon, they both quickly entered this giant passage.
The passage was only five meters long before it turned into a short staircase that led to two big doors. These doors seemed very majestic, and they emitted a lofty aura, despite just being doors. They were about 8 meters tall and as broad as 5 meters. They seemed to be made out of black metal, framed by skeletons of some sort. All in all, these doors looked both majestic and creepy at the same time.
Thufrat gulped as he turned to look at Ark, he wasn't really sure if it was a good idea to proceed anymore. He noticed quickly that even Ark's fur seemed to stand on end as he gazed at these doors. Normally, neither of them would be scared easily, but this time, it seemed to stem from the depths of their souls, and proceeding ahead seemed like a stupid idea.
But could they really turn back after coming this far? That was the question. And both Thufrat and Ark were incredibly stubborn, therefore they only glanced at each other for a bit before they both nodded, and Thufrat walked up to the doors.
He slowly stretched out his arms when he arrived and pushed the doors gently. As the doors opened, a gap appeared between them, and from this gap, a dark and gloomy aura quickly rushed out. This aura wasn't simple, as it had already manifested into some weird dark corporeal form that seemed like it would corrode everything it came into contact with.
Ark quickly used his light magic to put up barriers around them, as they both peered into the gap between the doors...
