The Devil's Harem

Chapter 189: Claire dissing Jessica

Chapter - 189

"Your Princess?"

'Is she his daughter? But he does not look old enough. Step-daughter?'

"D... Daughter?" Jessica hesitatingly asked, trying to confirm her doubt. When did it happen?

"Well, more or less like a daughter," Alex beckoned, "I really wish I had a daughter like Annie. Cuteness overloaded. Don't you want this cute bundle of joy as your daughter?" Alex asked Jessica in return.

"So you consider her as your daughter?" Jessica finally had a breath of relief, "She indeed makes you want to have a daughter like her."

"But she is the only lucky one," Alex turned his face towards Claire and introduced her to Jessica, "This is Doctor Claire, Annie's mother."

"Hello, I am Jessica, Alex's partner," Jessica introduced herself.

"Business partner," Alex hurriedly corrected Jessica as the two ladies shook hands.

"Who wants to be anything else with you?" Jessica quickly berated Alex, 'What? Am I an embarrassment that he wants to clarify even that?' While Jessica looked cool on the outside, her insides twisted in anger, 'Or maybe these two... That's not possible, right? She has a daughter.'

But when she thought about how happy Alex looked with Annie in his arms, Jessica could not brush away the possibility.

"I am just a doctor who treated him a couple of times," Jessica smiled as she listened to the two of them bicker and introduced herself.

"Is he ill?" Suddenly the anger was gone, and Jessica was worried.

"Nothing like that," Claire shook her hands and denied, "He was in an accident both the times. Although I am happy that he was there the second time, but apparently, it was all because he worked for an arrogant, narcissistic, sadistic boss."

"Sad... Narcissist boss?" Jessica had her eyes wide open in shock when she heard Claire and looked at Alex, "Was your boss really the Hitler type?" Jessica's eyes were shooting beams as she asked Alex.

"Well... It is too farfetched to call her that," Alex was sweating all of a sudden.

"You should have resigned then. Why take the bullshit?" Jessica crossed her arms over her chest and asked, 'So he has been badmouthing me everywhere?'

"How else do you think he has been working with his father now? Of course, he resigned," Claire spoke in between.

"Yeah... I forgot," Jessica giving one last glare towards Alex, turned her attention back to Claire.

"That's right. But I think if it's too much for the employees, they should rise, roar and revolt against such a devilish boss," Claire sounded passionate.

"... Such ignorant bosses take lightly of their employee's mental and physical well-being and continue to crush them with more and more work."

"... Do you know how many people have visit hospitals due to..." Claire suddenly forgot that she was at a party and began to lecture Jessica. Good thing Alex was there. Otherwise, he was not sure if Jessica would have let go of Claire without pulling her hair.

"Ladies... Ladies... Let's not talk about work, even at a party. We are here to enjoy ourselves. Let's not get sidetracked from our main objective," Alex said. He knew that the damage was already done.

Now all he could do was try and contain it.

"... Isn't that right, Annie? Do you want to eat chocolates?" Alex, in a swift movement, brought everyone's attention back to Annie. And Annie was quick to nod her head in agreement. If only she could speak, how good it would have been.

On the sidelines, George, Martha and Damien enjoyed the show. It had been no more than a few minutes since Jessica and Claire met, but Alex was already getting sandwiched between them.

"Why does it feel like Alex got caught two-timing?" Damien expressed his doubt.

"But I think he is handling it perfectly. He might look naive, but I think your brother has a hidden talent for handling women around him," George nodded in approval, "You should learn a thing or two from him."

"You know... Now that you say it, there are indeed women flocking around him," Damien nodded, "I knew it... Being innocent and naive is the trend now a days. I should also give it a try."

"It is natural for him to act this way. But someone like you acting innocent? It is nothing but deceiving the other person," George said, "I am already pitying the girl who will fall for your trick."

"Is this what a parent should be telling his own son?" Damien scorned, "It is clear you are favouring one son over the other. That's partiality. It's discrimination."

"As long as it is not gender discrimination. I don't want you to crush you under patriarchy," George smirked, "You know I am a feminist, don't you? Hehehe..."

"Mom... Look at your husband," defeated, Damien could only turn towards his mother for help.

"You know, being a woman, I should be against this," Martha ignored Damien, "But somehow, as a mother, I am looking forward to it even more."

"What?"

"He must really love your daughter," Jessica commented as she watched Alex walk away with Annie in his arms.

"That he does," Claire nodded. Her face was full of smiles as she watched Alex, "I owe him a lot for what he has done for me and my daughter."

"What happened?" Jessica asked, but Claire just shook her head.

"It's a long story," Claire said. She then looked with a bit of concern towards Jessica, "But if I may say."

"Yes..."

"I don't know much about your job. But looking at your complexion, I feel even your boss is not a piece of good news. If you ask me, you should take a break and get away from them as soon as possible." Claire said and leaned a little towards Jessica.

"Such bosses are nothing but pieces of shit. They don't deserve you working so hard."

"SMASH!"
