Chapter 362: Icy Spirit

An uninvited visitor suddenly arrived at the Peak of Ingénue and caused a stir.

No matter who it was, no one was allowed to intrude in the Peak of Ingénue like that. Visitors had to make appointments first.

But when the angry female disciples recognized who it was, they couldn’t help but stop walking. They glanced at each other and didn’t dare take another step forward.

They had witnessed the big fight at the Natural Law School not long ago.

They would never be able to catch up with the two rivals of the fight, and the person in front of them was the winner.

“Apprentice Brother Jiang Chen, what’s up?” a female disciple walked up and asked politely.

“I want to see your apprentice sister.” Jiang Chen’s dashing eyebrows were slightly furrowed. The smile he usually had on his face was also gone.

The female disciples weren’t surprised. They looked towards the palace where Jiang Chen had been the last time, so he headed there.

“Apprentice Brother Jiang Chen.”

The female disciples became anxious. They came before him, but didn’t dare stop him. As he took one step forward, they took one step back.

“Don’t try to stop me,” Jiang Chen said seriously. He had an assumption that he had to confirm.

It was impossible for practitioners of the Icy Heart Formula to risk their lives to rescue others. They didn’t know how to lie, either.

But Jiang Chen was sure Li Xue’er was practicing the Icy Heart Formula. He had observed her the last time he was there.

There was only one explanation...

Jiang Chen pushed the door open. Ignoring the female disciples’ anxious looks, he strode in and closed the door.

The quiet palace looked pretty much the same as it had a half a year ago. Li Xue’er was sitting in the center wearing white. Her skin was still soft and fair. Her beauty was flawless.

Even though she looked emotionless, it was impossible to pay no attention to her beauty.

Li Xue’er opened her eyes slowly when she heard the footsteps. She was surprised to see Jiang Chen.

“You’re—”

Her voice was still cold, but before she could finish her words, Jiang Chen dashed over and pressed her onto the ground.

“Jiang Chen!”

Li Xue’er was panicked. Out of instinct she tried to struggle, but found her hands were pinned.

“Apprentice sister.”

Jiang Chen didn’t waste his time talking. He couldn’t hold down his emotion anymore. He kissed her on her pink lips.

“Hmmm...”

Li Xue’er opened her eyes wide. She closed her lips tightly, trying to push him away, but the kiss made her powerless and weak.

Time seemed to have stopped, too.

The palace door was pushed open a crack, allowing some heads to poke through. The pretty faces were full of surprise.

They blinked, since they thought they had misread the situation.

Suddenly, Li Xue’er pushed Jiang Chen away hard. The female disciples also hurried to retract their heads.

Jiang Chen tried to get to his feet by pushing up from the ground. He saw a pair of beautiful feet in front of him. Under his jaw was a cold sharp thing.

It was an ice sword. Jiang Chen looked up and saw Li Xue’er’s messy hair and her angry, pretty face.

Jiang Chen smiled bitterly. He ignored the sword and stood up slowly.

“Apprentice sister, are you a member of the Ice Spirit?”

Li Xue’er trembled. She put down the ice sword in her hand slowly.

Only members of the Ice Spirit wouldn’t be affected by the secondary effects of the Icy Heart Formula.

In other words, Li Xue’er’s feelings for him hadn’t been changed since their connection in the Realm of Beasts, but Jiang Chen had never thought about that, since the chances of Li Xue’er becoming a member of the Ice Spirit were low.

“Apprentice sister, no matter what kind of responsibility you’re bearing, my feelings for you won’t change,” said Jiang Chen.

“What you did would be a crime punishable by death if other people knew.”

Suddenly, Li Xue’er smiled. Although it was only a slight smile, it was the most beautiful one Jiang Chen had ever seen.

“I’m willing to die thousands of times in exchange for that.” Jiang Chen walked towards her and took the sword in her hand. He was going to kiss her again.

Li Xue’er turned red. She was breathing heavily and closed her eyes.

Jiang Chen smiled and flicked on her head.

“What were you doing?” Li Xue’er blamed him gently. Her slim eyes squinted. He was seized by the light emitted from them.

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Jiang Chen said gently.

Li Xue’er looked sorrowful. She said after a sigh, “I didn’t want you to get involved in the fights of the Ice Spirit. That’s dangerous.”

“I’m not afraid, apprentice sister. Tell me all about it,” Jiang Chen said.

“You did this to me. Then I had to join.” Li Xue’er recalled what Jiang Chen had done and gave him a stare.

This small stare made everything in Jiang Chen’s world pale in comparison to his apprentice sister.

“My father is the king of the Ice Spirit. The fights between Spirits are very cruel. There are no rules or restrictions.

“The bloodiest is a project called Kill Talents. Spirits will kill their enemies’ talented descendants at all costs.

“They won’t even let a baby go.

“So, as a countermeasure to Kill Talents, Spirits will seal their power in their descendants’ body when they are small and send them to Nine Realms so that they can grow up without exposing their identities. When it’s time, they’ll go back to unseal the power.

“If I’m found by those enemies, even the Natural Law School won’t be able to protect me. Not to mention you.”

Her story weakened the sweetness brought by their love confession.

Jiang Chen saw coldness coming back to his apprentice sister’s face.

“Apprentice sister, didn’t you see my performance? I’m at least strong enough to protect you. In the near future, I’ll surely be able to fight against the other Spirits,” Jiang Chen tried to give her confidence.

“But we don’t have much time left. Although, as long as I’m not exposed, I’ll be able to stay here, it’s already time for me to go back,” said Li Xue’er.

“Now? But apprentice sister, your strength...” Jiang Chen was surprised. He had thought they still had more time ahead.

“I’m here to hide from Kill Talents, not to become a first-class practitioner. It’s time for me to unseal the power. Maybe I’ll be able to make a breakthrough and become a Venerable.”

“Apprentice sister, which realm is the Ice Spirit living in? How can I locate you after I become a Venerable?” Jiang Chen asked anxiously.

“If you come, it could be your misfortune.” Li Xue’er was struggling with whether to tell him or not.

“If I don’t go, I’ll be remorseful for the rest of my life.”

“Maybe when I leave, you’ll forget me very quickly. There are always pretty women around you.” Li Xue’er’s eyes became very bright. She looked at Jiang Chen with a smile.

The first thing that occurred to him was that his apprentice sister wasn’t as cold as he had once thought.

He didn’t know how to respond.

Fortunately, Li Xue’er didn’t want an answer. She whispered what he wanted to know in his ear.

“Apprentice sister, I promise you I’ll go,” Jiang Chen said.

“I’ll be right there waiting for you.”
