Sanctuary: Safe Haven

Chapter 224 Selection Process II

Canna waited patiently for a day to pass after his announcement regarding the formation of the shock troops. He knew that this decision was not one to be made lightly; it required deep contemplation. After all, those who would be chosen were not only representing the sanctuary but also embodying Canna's own vision and values.

He wanted his warriors to fully understand the gravity of the responsibility they would shoulder.

The morning of the selection process dawned bright and clear, the sanctuary bathed in a golden light that filtered through the towering trees. The air was thick with anticipation as Canna made his way to the clearing, Vorgrim and Grimruk walking beside him. Both exuded an air of solemnity, fully aware of the importance of what was about to happen.

As Canna stepped into the clearing, he was met by a sea of resolute faces. Every warrior present had clearly made up their mind—they were ready to face whatever trials awaited them in order to become part of the elite shock troops.

The first person Canna noticed was Tiberius, his old friend and a formidable barbarian. Tiberius was a mountain of a man, his body covered in intricate tribal tattoos that told the story of his many battles. His silver hair was cropped short, and his eyes, a striking blue, gleamed with determination. A massive sword, nearly as tall as he was, rested on his back, a testament to his raw strength.

Tiberius had been one of the first humans to inhabit the sanctuary, the first to train under Vorgrim's rigorous guidance, and the first to respond to the call to arms against the orcs. It was no surprise that he would be among the first to step forward for this new challenge.

Standing near Tiberius was Thalion, the elven swordsman who had earned a reputation for his deadly grace. Thalion was a master of his craft, his movements on the battlefield so fluid that they seemed more like a dance than combat. His silver hair, much longer than Tiberius's, was tied back, revealing the sharp angles of his face and the intense focus in his eyes.

During the war, Canna had watched Thalion move through enemy ranks like a shadow, each swing of his blade precise and lethal, leaving behind a trail of defeated foes.

As Canna scanned the crowd, more familiar faces stood out. Maggi, a human fighter with a mohawk and a fierce affinity for fire, was easy to spot. His muscular frame was adorned with various scars, each a testament to battles fought and won. Maggi was known for his brutal fighting style, often setting his enemies ablaze with a mere touch, his affinity for fire making him a force to be reckoned with.

Not far from Maggi was Kaida, a beastkin with a natural ability to control poison. Kaida's dark fur contrasted sharply with her bright green eyes, which gleamed with a predatory intelligence. Her presence on the battlefield was always felt, as enemies often fell victim to her toxic attacks before they even realized they were in danger.

She was a deadly warrior, and Canna was glad to see her among those who had stepped forward for the shock troops.

Canna's heart swelled with pride as he looked over the warriors who had gathered. Each one was formidable, a proven fighter in their own right, and now they were ready to take on the mantle of becoming the sanctuary's elite force.

Stepping onto a raised platform at the edge of the clearing, Canna raised his hand, signaling for silence. The murmur of conversation among the warriors died down, and all eyes turned to him, waiting for his words.

"Today marks the beginning of something new," Canna began, his voice steady and strong. "The formation of the shock troops is not just about selecting the best fighters—it's about choosing those who are willing to represent the sanctuary in all its values and principles. Once you step outside these walls, you will not only be warriors; you will be ambassadors of everything we stand for."

He paused, allowing his words to sink in. "The trials ahead will not be easy. In fact, they will be the hardest thing you've ever faced. For the next six months, you will be pushed to your absolute limits, both physically and mentally. You will be tested in ways you cannot yet imagine, and only those who endure will be welcomed into the ranks of the shock troops."

Canna's gaze swept over the crowd, meeting the eyes of the warriors who had chosen to stand before him. "This isn't just about strength or skill. It's about your willingness to protect this sanctuary and everything it represents. You will carry the weight of this responsibility on your shoulders, and I expect you to do so with honor."

"For those who are ready to take on this challenge, know that you are not doing this alone. You have your comrades beside you, and you have the full support of this sanctuary behind you. We are a family, and together, we will become stronger than ever."

With that, Canna stepped back, giving the floor to Vorgrim and Grimruk. The two seasoned warriors moved forward, their imposing figures commanding attention.

The warriors in the clearing exchanged determined looks, their resolve solidifying as they prepared themselves for the grueling journey ahead. Experience tales at empire

As Vorgrim and Grimruk began to take full control of the assembled warriors, outlining the details of the training regimen, Canna stepped back, satisfied that the sanctuary's future was in good hands.

Later, as the warriors began their first phase of training, Noctis fluttered down from his perch and landed gracefully on Canna's head. The small owl's eyes gleamed with excitement as he telepathically communicated a new discovery.

"Master, I've found something interesting," Noctis began, his voice echoing in Canna's mind. "There's a forest to the south, just beyond the orc settlement. It's unlike any I've seen before. There's something about it… something that feels significant."

Canna's curiosity was piqued. "What do you mean, significant?"

Noctis hesitated, as if searching for the right words. "It's not just the forest itself. There's a presence there, something powerful and ancient. I can't quite explain it, but I have a feeling it's something worth investigating."

Canna nodded thoughtfully. "Good work, Noctis. We'll need to check it out soon."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

With the selection process underway and the Noctis Network beginning to take shape, Canna felt a renewed sense of purpose. The sanctuary was growing stronger every day, and soon, they would be ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead—whether they came from within or from the mysterious forest that Noctis had discovered.
