Vol. 11 - Chapter 550 - Rapid Changes in the Arena, 3 Classes out in 30 minutes.

December website update

Three days passed by since the first block match, and today kicks off the semi-final of the first-years.

To provide an overview, there had been a total of 16 blocks, each with eight classes. Out of them,  32 passed for the semi-final round who're, again, split into four blocks. The top two winners of each block—a total of 8 classes would gain their ticket to the finale.

From the beginning to end, the matches followed the similar royal battle-esque format.

The audience this year had been quite excited, more than ever in fact, bringing in an influx of businessmen and other influential people. As they say, to find the gem, they gotta look at the unpolished stones.

Though this year, it had happened much earlier, pushed forward from the typical December date to the november.

Well, with how much the academy had been turned into a vice-of-den-a-alike—on another note, it would be understatement to say only the academy was affected, given the influence on entire kingdom if anything, pushing the government body on a non-stop train of wreck to bring up laws and system to contain the situation.

Anyway, as much as the Inter-Class battle was one of the major focus points, the action of the young man, nicknamed «Brave», had certainly prompted the academy to hold it earlier. For the outsider, it was a chance for them to see the talents they couldn't have in normal time, and mostly in their habitat where they showed their true skills.

Plus, given the reputation of «Labyrinth Academy - Main Branch», and its exceptional criteria for the candidates, a lot of interested eyes were bound to look forward to the matches. After all, there was a reason this main branch still towers above other branches.

That said, with how sudden the original schedule had been pushed up, it certainly cut short work for the business society. Since they couldn't change their plans impromptu, they could only have their proxy take their place for them. But for the finale, they certainly had settled to visit it for sure.

However—the presumption with which they had settled on to visit only on the day of the finale was completely overturned in just the first match.

The shocking match played by the first-block had went beyond anyone's imagination. The top players were beaten to the bottom-barrel position. Almost all of the businessmen and organisations hastily changed their plans and crashed into the academy like a deluge. It wasn't that they're completely unconcerned about their work, but just that the current situation demanded their attention.

Needless to say, a major factor in how it turned out was the introduction of fresh blood en masses, each a holder of certain talent. As a matter of fact, the number of high-ranking job holders in the first-years was six times more than any of the past records. And how it came to... anyone worth their salt already knows who brought that wave of changes.

The audience stand of first-years, which had always been dried like dessert typically during the first match of semi-channel, were now seeing a fight for the seats. For the first-time, nearly all the seats had been filled up.

Somewhere in the way to the academy, a carriage was rapidly making a run for the venue, harboured with a sense of urgency.

Inside, one could spot a young man—Macros, a Vice-Commander of Royal Court Sorcerer Unit—with restless expression, his gaze occasionally glancing out of the window. Across him, a woman in her late 20s, maybe only a couple years older than Macros, was sitting with an elegant posture. And just as beautifully she carried herself, she was similarly a holder of exceptional beauty.

The beautiful lady was the Commander of the Royal Court Sorcerer Unit, and also a holder of the «Duke» category—Leviella.

Leviella was amused to see the rare act of impatience from Macros, but seeing as they're almost at the academy's premise, it would be a harm to their integrity if someone were to see his current appearance.

"How about you give a rest to your feelings for now, Macros? There's always more eyes out to catch your unsightly appearance than it appears to be."

"......Y-Yes, Ma'am!!"

At first, Macros' response came with a lag, but as he glanced her way, he finally realised the situation, and swiftly corrected his posture.

Leviella curled her lips into a faint smile at the sight. It was not so usual to him engrossed in something to even forgot about himself, just to show how much he was looking forward to the semi-final.

Nothing much was to say about the little changes, it was just, he had become a sort of Brave fan himself after the lecture that day. Whenever there was some news from Brave, he would surely bring it up within his circle.

"Well, your mood isn't foreign to me. It just doesn't feel that great to pick up the stuff after the beginning. However, just as I am, do not forget you have your reputation to uphold. You must set an example as the Vice-Commander of the Royal Court Sorcerer Unit."

"Roger!! And I do apologise for the unsightly act. Indeed, I let my feelings get ahead of myself. I truly am ashamed."

"Don't beat yourself much over it. As I said, it's natural to feel impatience, especially given that the match has already started."

The match in which Class-1 was participating, and of which Brave was the part of, had already begun. This was the explanation to Macros's impatient.

However, as much as he felt it, there was still sometime before the carriage reached its destination.

Initially, they should've been arriving by tomorrow at latest following their schedule. However the changing situation in first-year matches prompted them to march ahead, attempting to reach even a short ahead. But that was easier said than done. Even with braving the impossibility, they barely managed to shorten the travel time.

"There's still 10 minutes until our arrival. Pray contain yourself for now."

That said, the match had just started, so they still hadn't missed on much. As much as it pains him to miss the beginning, they still had the climax on their plate.

Well, though he understood it, Macros's expression didn't get better.

"I will! However, speaking of the first match, it had been concluded in 42 minutes. T-There's no saying it wouldn't end early..."

His concern wasn't unfound. The match could indeed be over by the time they reached the venue. And it went without saying, Class-1's match was probably the only priority for him.

He could watch him create new world records anytime, and that would certainly not bore him. But considering it was Brave, the wish might certainly end up being a reality.

While their block had only high-ranking class slotted in, that barely made any difference for Brave.

In the end, they could only pray they don't miss out on the match.

And ten minutes later—they had finally reached the venue.

"Let's hurry up then. As for you, you know where to head up."

Leaving a short message to coachman, Leviella and Macros covered the distance to the audience stand with a brisk pace. Their pace was quick, but in uniformity.

Fortunately, it appeared the match was still ongoing. However, half an hour had passed since then, and three classes were already made to face the exit.

The situation was developing at a quick pace, beyond what was standard. In a normal scenario, the half an hour should have been barely a prologue before the situation heated up. At the current pace, the match was no more than 30 minutes away from ending.

Truly astonishing. The thought caused Macros to gasp internally. He stroked his chest in relief, thanking the stars of his fortune to arrive in time.

Leviella and Macros swiftly made their way to the open seat. But as they'd made a haste, arriving before their scheduled time, they obviously had no seat reserved and instead turned to find two vacant, adjacent seats on ordinary rows.

"I spot them, Macros. Follow me."

"Roger!"

Leviella spotted the free seats and prompted Macros to follow her tracks. They'd just reached when they suddenly heard from their neighbourhood person, someone they certainly hadn't imagined to find at all.

"Hmm? Why, if it isn't Commander Reviella, and her aide Macros. Long time no see."Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"......His Highness Yuri??"

That someone was none other than Prince Yuri, his whole silhouette covered in hood. His attire suggested he was here in secrecy.

T/N - Heya, everyone, how did your new year go? Personally, it was like everyday except the update of a game made the day. Any guesses? ~~And I guess you guessed the reason behind the delay this week. I can’t wait to eat my words said a while ago.~~

But on the brighter side, the goal performed quite well at least. Though it didn’t hit the set milestone, not that it was unexpected, we would be updating two extra chapters next week. And it seems like Hannah’s side story get the fair number of votes so there we go~.

On the side note—not that it’s important, so you can skip it—my original idea was to check out the light novel volume of series and see if there is any summer side stories, and *hopefully* the illustration of the remaining girl’s swimsuit but I couldn't find the time and means to get it. Welp, here goes my plan to put down summer stories in the winter season—the oh-so classic staple of anime regardless of the time. Let’s see this month then~.

The Novel will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
