Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

Chapter 161 - One Hundred Sixty-One Spatial Segmentation

Chapter 161: Chapter One Hundred Sixty-One Spatial Segmentation

Guo Yang thought of this method actually because of Su Jin’s reminder.

Previously, Su Jin had told him that he could try using objects from the space to throw at enemies as an attack method. After seeing the iron needles Su Jin brought back from Antique City, it occurred to him, if objects could be used to hit the enemy, why not use iron needles or other hidden weapons to attack?

Plus, having chanced upon a human acupoint map in the upstairs study of the secondary residence, he thought of this move. If he could utilize his Space Element Ability to segment out his original space, then attack the enemy using hidden weapons, wouldn’t it be much more effective? This was also the reason he had been frequently asking Yao Yi about human acupoints.

And today, his idea finally saw its first success!

This made him incredibly excited, but considering that he had to get up early the next day to collect supplies from the supermarket with Su Jin, he decided it was best to stop practicing for the day. It was important to conserve his strength and special ability so they could potentially haul in more goods tomorrow.

Su Jin woke up very early the next day, she had Lin Yunguo prepare some cooked corn and eggs in advance, planning to share them with the villa’s staff.

Xiao Dong, who had greeted Lu Hao previously, was pleasantly surprised. He hadn’t expected the beautiful young lady to call on him early in the morning, and even ask him to help distribute food to everyone!

To think, these past days, they had been eating mixed grain buns with various ingredients paired with thin soup—and that, repetitively, for three meals a day. Now, even pickles were a luxury, let alone vegetables. Many of them had developed a string of canker sores in their mouths due to lack of vitamins and nutrition.

And today, they were each given a piece of corn and an egg!Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The staff in the villa area were buzzing with excitement.

The boss was distributing food online!

“These are things we found by chance yesterday, and we were worried they might go bad if we don’t eat them all, so you guys take them and distribute them,” Su Jin said to Xiao Dong and several others nearby.

“Thank you! Thank you so much.”

Xiao Dong received the basket handed by Su Jin, feeling its contents were incredibly heavy, easily a thousand jin. It was so precious!

A short-haired girl excitedly took a piece of corn and an egg from Xiao Dong and slipped them into her pocket. Her mother was still in the refuge, being frail and sick for several days. She thought giving these to her mother might even help with her illness.

There was also a middle-aged man who, although happy to receive his share, immediately saved it to take back for his child to nourish.

Seeing this, others also quietly kept theirs. They all had families, and none of them could bear to eat it themselves.

Xiao Dong broke his corn in half and handed the other half to the middle-aged man, saying, “I have no relatives. Big Brother Liu, you’re my family. This is for you.”

“That’s not right, you eat it. I’ll eat my share later,” replied the man.

“I know you’re going to save it for Xiao Wen again. You once saved my life; you have to accept this!” Xiao Dong insisted somewhat angrily.

The middle-aged man swallowed hard and finally accepted the corn. The two of them sat by the roadside, munching on their corn and smiling.

Su Jin, who had left earlier, did not witness these scenes but hoped the food would have a beneficial effect.

Lu Hao looked tenderly at Su Jin as she returned; his lovely wife truly was beautiful and kindhearted.

There was still a lot of corn left, which Su Jin set out for breakfast, along with boiled eggs, an essential part of everyone’s daily breakfast, as well as cooked milk and rice noodles with meat sauce.

Those who’d gotten up first had already started eating, and Guo Yang too had risen early. He had specifically found a clock in the space yesterday to set an alarm for this morning.

“Eat up, everyone. Today’s tasks may be quite hefty,” Su Jin reminded them. Today’s job included not only clearing the zombies outside the supermarket but also inside, which was a considerable number.

Hearing this, everyone ate with even more gusto.

“Hehe, I feel like I can level up today, it would be best if we encountered an Ice-Element Zombie,” Lin Xiuyuan said while slurping his rice noodles.

“Me too, me too, I feel like there’s an energy inside me that’s about to burst out,” Nie Qing said.

Su Jin expressed her envy, unsure of when her Special Ability would level up, as she currently felt nothing at all.

Today, the convoy was still three armored vehicles in neat formation. Actually, Su Jin wanted to switch to SUVs, but because there were so many people from the villa district who saw them off every day, to avoid arousing too much suspicion, they didn’t change vehicles today.

Both Su Xiangzhe and Lin Cheng remembered yesterday’s route, and with the Zombies not being many on the road, the group quickly arrived at their destination.

“Let’s get started!”

As Su Jin spoke, she tied her hair, which hung at the back, into a bun, making her fair, youthful face look even more innocent.

Lu Hao swallowed hard as he watched and gave a heavy “Hmm” of acknowledgement.

“There are two floors inside, with probably over four hundred Zombies,” Mao Qiqi said after sensing the area.

Everyone nodded. For now, they’d focus on taking out the hundred or so Zombies outside!

Su Xiangzhe rushed out first, his Thunder Ball frying a Zombie’s brain, while Huang Yunxiang launched her Water Arrow. Although not killing many Zombies, the combination of her water ability with Su Xiangzhe’s Thunder Element Ability successfully slowed down the Zombies’ attack.

Suddenly, a pale Zombie leaped out from behind an outdoor elevator next to the supermarket. It was a Wind Element!

“You guys keep going, leave this one to me!” Nie Qing charged over with his Watermelon Knife. After a few slashes, he managed to sever one of the Zombie’s arms, only a layer of flesh still hanging from it, which was utterly disgusting.

“Bang!”

Nie Qing’s Wind Ball slammed the Wind Element Zombie onto the stopped elevator. It managed to stand up again using its other arm, then continued to release Wind Blades at Nie Qing, who sneered and swiftly flew towards it, severing the other arm too!

“Hehe, now I’d like to see how you’ll use your Special Ability,” Nie Qing taunted.

But the Wind Element Zombie, as if understanding Nie Qing’s taunt, suddenly spat out a Wind Ball from its mouth towards Nie Qing!

Nie Qing wasn’t fast enough to dodge and nearly got hit. Luckily, Mao Zhihang blocked it for him with a shield formed from his Metal Element.

Nie Qing had recovered and used his Wind Blade to split the Zombie’s head, revealing a Wind Element Crystal Core.

“Thanks, Brother Mao,” Nie Qing said, prying out the Crystal Core with his knife and thanking Mao Zhihang. The wind that the Wind Element Zombie had spewed was incredibly stinky; though Nie Qing hadn’t been hit, he still caught a whiff of the putrid smell.

“Don’t mention it,” Mao Zhihang replied, impaling another Zombie’s brain with a railing he controlled.

With the hundreds of Zombies in the square almost dealt with, Mao Qiqi approached Su Jin and said, “Sister Xiao Jin, there are about a dozen people on the opposite side staring at us.”

Watching Lu Hao kill the last Zombie, Su Jin said, “Nevermind them for now, let’s go in and collect stuff first.”

That they watched but didn’t approach could mean they also wanted to enter and get supplies, or perhaps they were waiting for them to clear the Zombies inside before reaping the benefits.

Su Jin scoffed. As if they would let that happen so easily.
