Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

Chapter 135 - 135 Heading to Antique City

Chapter 135: Chapter 135 Heading to Antique City

This dinner, Yin Chengtian didn’t come down to eat; he had not yet succeeded in germinating a single seed. Even when Shi Jin called him to eat, he was too preoccupied and Shi Jin had no choice but to bring him something to eat at the secondary house.

Not until the next morning did Yin Chengtian finally manage to ripen the first seed. Holding the tender yellow sprout excitedly, he went to find Su Jin, but it wasn’t until he descended the stairs that he learned Su Jin and Captain Lu had gone out together. Helplessly, he returned to his room to continue inducing the remaining seeds to germinate, hoping to succeed with all five before they returned.

The family actually wasn’t worried about Su Jin and Lu Hao’s safety because, even in a dangerous situation, they could both seek shelter inside the Space.

So today they started their first day of splitting up: Su Jin and Lu Hao went in search of weapons while the others continued cleaning up zombies in the villa area.

In fact, Nie Qing was quite eager to see what Antique City was like, but today he had a bet with Lu Guanhai to see who could kill more zombies, so he didn’t follow along.

Seeing the two men unwilling to show weakness day by day amused the others, and Lu Hao was quite helpless, not knowing exactly when his father and master started competing with each other in everything, each determined to outdo the other.

Three armored vehicles had already been cleaned by Huang Yunxiang and Lin Tianzhen, but Su Jin had no plans to drive those three. The conditions of the city roads varied greatly, and they had to be ready to abandon their vehicle at any time. Although she could store the car in her Space, if they encountered other survivors, there was a risk of exposing the Space.

Therefore, Su Jin took out the old car Mr. Su and Mrs. Su used to drive in H City from the car path.

“Xiao Jin, Xiao Hao, be careful in everything,” Su Xiangzhe said.

“You too,”

Su Jin nodded. With Mao Qiqi around and everyone’s strength out in the open, she wasn’t too worried.

Driving was Su Jin who, despite not driving much in H City, had been a “veteran driver” with four or five years’ license under her belt. Moreover, in her previous life, she often drove for the team, so she believed her driving skills were quite good.

“Let me drive when you get tired later,” said Lu Hao, sitting in the passenger seat.

“No, I’m not tired,” Su Jin refused decisively.

“…”

“Squeak, squeak, squeak,”

Familiar chirping sounds came from the backseat. Although Su Jin did not turn around to look, she knew who it was.

“Why is Local Tyrant Gold also here?” Su Jin muttered to herself, having just tricked it inside the house before leaving.

“Maybe, invisibility?” Lu Hao guessed, as he had not seen Local Tyrant Gold get on either, so the creature must have used its Invisibility Ability to stealthily climb aboard.

Seeing the two in front discovered itself, Local Tyrant Gold no longer hid and directly jumped to the front of the car, sitting there looking outside.

“What are you looking at?” Su Jin noticed that Local Tyrant Gold enjoyed looking out the window. She hadn’t paid much attention before during the travel, but now, with its earnest demeanor, it looked like a monkey intent on finding its way.

“Squeak, squeak, squeak,” Local Tyrant Gold continued to look ahead.

“It can’t be mapping the route, can it?” Su Jin said jokingly, having never heard of such a habit in monkeys.

“It’s not impossible, primates in the forest have much stronger sense of direction than other animals,”

Lu Hao had also researched sense of direction before, but since it was an innate ability, there was nothing he could do about it.

“Bang!”

A zombie suddenly crashed into them, but Su Jin calmly floored the accelerator and crushed it under the wheels.

“Be careful, there will only be more zombies up ahead,” Lu Hao warned seriously, eyeing both sides of the road to prevent any sudden attacks.

The Antique City of S city was located near a long-distance bus station. Although not in the city center, it still attracted a considerable flow of people. Fortunately, the day of the Apocalypse was not a weekend, so the number of zombies here was not overwhelming. Nevertheless, the quantity was still significant. The two of them had no intention of engaging in a fight; their only purpose today was to look for weapons.

When it came to cold weapons, due to regulations in Hua Country, not every place had them for sale. Only Antique City managed to exploit a loophole for collectors, which was why they could find some there. Su Jin also hoped they could smoothly find a suitable weapon today.

As they encountered small groups of zombies along the road, the two either dodged or drove past them. However, there was now a small pack of zombies running towards them. Lu Hao estimated there to be at least thirty-odd zombies. The road was too narrow to plow through, so they had to get out of the car to clear them.

“Xiao Jin, stay in the car, I’ll go down alone,”

Su Jin nodded—it was just thirty-something zombies, a piece of cake for Lu Hao. There really was no need for her to go down as well.

These zombies were likely passengers waiting at the nearby bus station, with several of them still carrying large backpacks. As they smelled Lu Hao coming out of the car, they lunged at him with gaping mouths!

Lu Hao summoned Special Ability Fire with both hands at the same time. His fire was no longer Small Fireballs but two half-meter-tall flames. Merging the two flames in his hands into one, he threw it at the incoming zombies!

Boom!

The group of zombies was entirely hit by the Special Ability Fire, and several that hadn’t been hit fatally struggled to stand up only to be taken down by a few more Fireballs thrown by Lu Hao—annihilation complete.

Su Jin could hardly resist applauding; her man was so handsome!

Among the charred bodies, Lu Hao found a dozen Crystal Cores, which he cleaned with the bottle of water Su Jin had thrown to him.

“Here you go,”

Lu Hao spread out his hands.

Su Jin looked at the wet Crystal Cores somewhat reluctantly and simply waved one hand, depositing them into her Space—just a dozen Ordinary Crystal Cores. She couldn’t be bothered to take out her storage bag.

Local Tyrant Gold, having been frightened by Lu Hao’s Special Ability Fire, had scurried into Su Jin’s embrace. Animals seemed to have a natural fear of fire, and after Lu Hao got back into the car, Su Jin placed it back in its position. However, it was obvious that the little creature kept rubbing against the opposite direction of Lu Hao, trying to get as far away from him as possible…

With a smile on her face, Su Jin continued to drive. Local Tyrant Gold, the little monkey, was just too human-like.

“We’re approaching Antique City,”

From a distance, Su Jin could already see the building inscribed with the words “Antique City,” carved in an antique style.

The main gate of Antique City was designed to mimic that of an ancient city, with its vibrant red doors wide open. Looking from the outside, one could vaguely make out the street stalls lining the path inside. To the right of the entrance, there was a section of the road under construction, with a heap of sand over a meter tall piled up in the corner.

“Something’s not right,” Lu Hao remarked with a frown.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

“What’s not right?” Su Jin observed from inside the car, but apart from a few zombies wandering in the corner, she couldn’t spot anything amiss.
