Chapter 84 Creating An Open Restaurant
After a few moments of pondering, Lucian finally responded to James, "Placing the tarps can wait. The ground is uneven, littered with jagged rocks, and some parts are muddy. I won't set up my kitchen on such unstable ground, unless you're willing to compensate me for potential damage to my equipment."
Hearing Lucian's last sentence, James frowned. Despite having a lot of money, as a Merchant, he liked keeping money rather than giving it to someone else.
[You're asking for compensation even though the temporary kitchen does not belong to you?] The System asked speechlessly.
[System, the compensation is of course for you… but of course, as a System, what can you even do with money? Therefore, I'm more than willing to keep it safe with me until you receive a body,] Lucian replied without an ounce of shame.
[...]
After not receiving a response from either James or the System, Lucian looked at Garrett and asked, "You're an Earth Mage correct?"
Despite being confused by the sudden question, Garrett nodded, "That's right."
Lucian nodded and pointed beside him, "Smoothen this area."
"Alright, anything for Owner Lucian's food!" Garrett eagerly stepped forward. He then took a deep breath and placed his Mana-covered hands on the ground. After channeling his Mana into the ground, he muttered to himself:
'Terraform.'
*Rumble*
With a low rumble, the ground faintly glowed brown and trembled slightly.
"Amitabha! Why is the ground trembling!?" A bald young man exclaimed from his tent and then quickly rushed out to see what was happening.
"Calm down. Sir Garrett is smoothening the ground over there." The chubby young Human man pointed with his feet at Garrett while his hands were on his ears.
"Also, did your mother not teach you to be quiet?" He continued, which instantly angered the bald young man with prayer beads around his neck.
"Haah, this poor monk will not argue with the likes of you."
*Rumble* *Rumble*
The rumbling suddenly grew louder, attracting even more people's attention. Soon, they watched the ground begin shifting, and even the rocks lodged into the hard ground smoothed out.
Within a matter of seconds, the uneven terrain transformed into a flat, solid foundation.
"Is this to your satisfaction, Owner Lucian?" Garrett said tiredly, with beads of sweat pouring down his face. The Skill Terraform used up almost two-thirds of his Mana, leaving him breathless.
Lucian inspected the newly leveled ground again and nodded in approval. "Not bad."
At this point, many spectators had gathered because of the commotion but they did not dare get too close.
"What do they need so much space for?"
"Who knows? Random people like us can never guess the thoughts of people with terrifying backgrounds like Sir James."
Meanwhile, once the ground a hundred feet around Lucian was flat and perfect for his kitchen, he looked toward Fenwick, [Can you use your Plant Element to make wooden chairs and tables?]n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Fenwick trembled as Lucian's voice sounded in his head,
[I'm using Voice Transmission. To use the technique, think about wanting to speak with me and use Mana while speaking.] Lucian instructed after noticing his shocked expression.
After calming down, Fenwick glared at Lucian and said, [I know how to use Voice Transmission. I was merely startled by your sudden voice.]
[Mm.]
[To answer your question, I am a Plant Mage. However, I don't have enough of an understanding into the Plant Element to produce tables and chairs. If I were a Mana Soul Realm Mage, then it would have been different.] Fenwick answered and continued skeptically, [Shouldn't Senior know that?]
Lucian rolled his eyes and said, [Which idiot said that you have to be a Mana Soul Realm Mage to produce tables and chairs? After becoming a Mana Core Formation Realm Mage you should have ten percent understanding into your Element.]
For a moment, Fenwick was shocked by the information that went against everything he knew, before he replied, [That must only be possible for Magical Beasts.]
[Whatever.] Lucian responded while ignoring he was mistaken for a Magical Beast.
"Big Brother Lucian, why are you staring at the ground? Did my brother not do a good job? If you want, I can make him redo it." Lily walked over to Lucian and whispered into his ears after noticing he had been staring at the ground for a while.
Lucian shook his head and through Voice Transmission taught her how to use Voice Transmission. Because she had been acting sneakily, he knew she did not want her identity to be exposed.
After teaching her how to use Voice Transmission, Lucian said to the System, [I want to buy twenty of the cheapest chairs and five, four-person tables.]
Because Fenwick was unreliable, he had no choice but to use his hard-earned money.
'At least, I'll make the money back and more,' Lucian mused just as he received a System Notification.
<{You have bought twenty chairs and five, four-person tables.}>
<{One Low-Grade Mana Stone has been deducted.}>
<{65 Low-Grade Mana Stones → 64 Low-Grade Mana Stones.}>
<{Thank you for doing business.}>
[Fuck, what business? How is one Low-Grade Mana Stone called cheap? I wanted the cheapest tables and chairs.] Despite angrily shouting at the System, Lucian's face remained indifferent.
[Host, the System currently does not have a method to give change back. Therefore, to not rip off the Host, the System gave you tables and chairs worth one Low-Grade Mana Stone.] The System explained after realizing what just occurred.
[Oh? At least, I wasn't ripped off.] Lucian felt better after hearing the System's words.
"You can place the tarps now." James nodded and after retrieving five black tarps from his Spatial Ring, he handed it to one of his guards.
"Lay these down on the ground for the Senior."
'Senior?' The guard was confused by the respectful address because in his eyes Lucian was a young man but after a moment, he nodded to his master and did as told. As a mere guard, he was not in a position to question his master. He should just do what he was told.
Once the tarps were placed and secured into the ground by nails, Lucian opened the Inventory and summoned the Temporary Portable Kitchen.
