Chapter 254 | 254 | The Battle for Servusarator: Minos Rebellion Part 10 - Finale
As the Apache hovered above the eastern gate, the armored convoy was nearby and accelerated, intending to pummel through whatever was planning to stop them. The gunner glanced at the incoming convoy and calmly operated the weapon system. With a push of a button, several hellfire soared forward, piercing through the air like a hot knife through butter.
It was already too late for the armored convoy as the moment they took notice of the lone Apache. Hellfire missiles had already escaped from it, headed their way and impacting them in mere moments. The armored convoy found themselves in disarray as multiple vehicles exploded upon contact with the ordnance.
*BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!*
The vehicles behind the vanguard quickly crashed upon one another, unable to promptly brake from the unexpected assault of the attack helicopter. When the rebels inside the armored convoy realized that they were ambushed, they steadily left the confines of their vehicle, preparing to fight whatever was trying to stop them.
However, the rebels could only gazed in shocked as the Apache hovered in front of them like a deadly predator. The gunner within the attack helicopter calmly switched the weapon platform and operated the chain gun, pulling the trigger without a tinge of hesitation or delay.
The chain guns of the attack helicopter opened fire as rain of lead fell from the skies, piercing through everything with relative ease. Even the rebels hiding behind their vehicles were at the mercy of the chain guns who blasted through concrete and brought about secondary explosions within the halted convoy.
*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*
In mere moments, the armored convoy that was supposed to escape the capital city of Minos had fallen into the hands of the United Military. It was a declaration towards the rebels that the United World Government shall not accept negotiations, for it had already ended the moment the war started.
"This is Bulldog-15, rebel leadership's presence in the armored convoy is negative. It was a bait." The pilot coolly reported through the data link, which was immediately responded upon by a communication operator. *Affirmative, Bulldog-15.*n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
*Switch targets, destroy the gathering rebels in the square and support our forces.*
"Understood, Bulldog-15 Out." The pilot replied and turned his attention towards the direction where the square resided. The town square dwelled in front of the government building, so the clash between the rebels and the soldiers were frequent within the area. It was for this reason why they were sent to support their brothers and sisters.
Not intending to waste more time, the Apache soared onward, heading towards the town square that had already been riddled with rubbles and bullet holes.
On the other hand, the squads of the United Military that had been sent to infiltrate the capital city of Minos during the air assault had reached the doors of the government building. However, the town square was a battlefield as soldiers and rebels fought with ferociousness.
Smoke and dust shrouded the air, barely giving anyone some visibility. Though, it didn't stop the fire fight as both soldiers and rebels alike were shooting at each other's general direction.
Two Apaches soon hovered above them as the soldiers on the ground cheered while the rebels clenched their teeth in dread. The chain guns of the attack helicopters immediately pummeled the defending rebels into damnation, leaving nothing but discarded corpses in their wake.
Even those inside the government buildings were mowed down as the leads brought upon by the chain guns easily pierced through concrete. The Minos Rebels stood no chance against the war machines of the United Military. The moment they had lost their ground and naval assets.
They had already lost.
Their defeat had become certain, and it wasn't a question of if, but when. Time was running out for them, though the moment they decided to fight until one last man. There was only death that awaited them.
The chain guns fired at the area for quite some time, though the moment it stopped firing. Only silence remained as those that had dared to fight against the soldiers of the United Military had already lost their lives from the chain guns of the attack helicopters.
Noticing the opportunity, the soldiers fighting against the rebels didn't hesitate and rushed into the government building of the capital city, the Capitol of Minos. It wasn't as decorative, opulent, and massive as the Capitol of Dawn City, yet it stood like a fortress on its own.
At any rate, the soldiers forced through the barricades and swiftly dealt with the stragglers that had been left behind by the assault. There had no hesitance as in their eyes, the ones before them were mere traitors of the United World Government. Betrayers of democracy.
The moment the soldiers entered the Capitol building, most of the capital city of Minos had already fallen under the control of the United Military. The prison camps were captured with its prisoners freed from their cells, liberating them once again from their own tyrants.
But it was a saddening sight for the prisoners to see their once beloved city ruined into a battlefront of destruction and suffering. However, it was the price that had to be paid. For what the Minos Government had done was not without its own repercussions.
Transport helicopters made their landing near the prison camps as the newly-freed civilians would be sent to their respective refugee centers. After all, the battle between the Minos Rebels and the United Military hadn't ended yet. Explosions and firefights still echoed in the battlefront that was the capital city of Minos.
Anyhow, even though clashes between the soldiers and rebels resounded throughout the cityscape. It was fairly less frequent in comparison to the first hour of the battle where there was nothing that could be heard other than explosions and gunfire. It signified that the Minos Rebellion was nearing its conclusion.
And its conclusion would be the victory of the United World Government and the Authority above it.
...
Meanwhile, inside the underground bunker of the Capitol building. The War Minister found himself surrounded by his remaining generals who were arguing with one another about their future strategies. They had already lost most contact of their forces, and the ones outside of the city were bare, not reaching the minimum standard of a reinforcement.
His entourage was split into two sides. One wanted to surrender and negotiate a peace treaty to the United World Government. The other wanted to keep fighting, rejecting the very notion of a surrender, pressing that it would tarnish their honor as a War Tribe.
The War Minister merely sat on his chair, observing their arguments as the bunker shook and trembled from the explosions outside. It was fairly clear that the United Military was on their doorsteps and might already be inside the Capitol. It shouldn't take too long for them to discover the underground bunker.
"I expected the assault of the United Military to be fierce, but I didn't think it would be this ferocious. I underestimated their capabilities..." The War Minister muttered to himself and realized that he should have remained patient, bidding his time for a perfect opportunity. Continue reading on empire
Though, the existence of the secret society within the State of Minos had already be discovered by the United World Government after the disaster within Dawn City and the dissolution of the Special Response Division. There was no way he could remain hidden, and would be promptly discovered by the intelligence agencies who were the daggers of the World Government.
Nevertheless, it was difficult to not be disappointed. The State of Minos could have become a glorious country on its own, free from foreign influences that weren't of Minos blood. It was merely his dream to be free from anyone and anything. As long as they could have complete freedom over their nation, it was already enough.
But the World Government presented ideologies that impeded the growth of the War Tribe. When they could simply use slaves to advance their economy into the major leagues, the United World Government wouldn't allow them to do so.
This was a world where power reigned supreme. A simple and the unrivalled truth of nature.
The views of the World Government were akin to that of a delusional bastard. Yet, the delusional bastard has the capability and power to keep their views afloat regardless of how much enemies they may faced.
It was for this reason why he had come to hate the United World Government.
"And I am the one without power..." The War Minister muttered to himself, a sarcastic smirk formed over his face. He glanced at his generals who were barely maintaining their calm. Death was at their doorstep, it was natural to be anxious.
But since becoming the War Minister of the Minos Tribe, he had expected his death when he had promised to liberate the Minokins from the influence of anyone and anything. It was the price to pray for what he considered as freedom.
"However, I wouldn't give them the pleasure of executing me." A craze smile curled up over his lips as he held a revolver and pointed its barrel beside his head. He was a bit saddened to not have said his final goodbyes to his brother, but nonetheless, he didn't hesitate to pull the trigger.
*Bang!*
The arguing generals froze as they turned their gaze towards the War Minister who fell back at his chair, dead. The bunker door that was reinforced with thick sheets of steel immediately exploded as soldiers of the United Military ordered them to raise their arms and kneel on the ground.
*BOOM!*
"Raise your hands up!"
"Get down, you bastards!"
Those that didn't follow the orders were quickly disposed off, and the soldiers steadily surrounded the dead body of the War Minister. Their gaze was disappointed at the hollow scene. It was unfortunate that they couldn't capture him and give him a death trial in the court of justice.
After all, it would have sent a message to those who were planning to fight or betray the United World Government. Just because they hadn't haphazardly threatened others or expand their sovereignty, doesn't mean that they were weak.
"Take his corpse and arrest all of them." The staff sergeant that opened up the bunker ordered his men as many more soldiers entered the underground interiors.
The Battle for Servusarator alongside the Minos Rebellion had ended.
And the United World Government stood as the victor.
