Chapter 356: Found Her

Chapter 356: Found Her

Seeing Chen Zizhen and the others in the sitting room, Shi Xuan said, "I don't know that we have guests today."

Long Yu glanced at him and replied, "A Xuan, they are our new teammates."

Shi Xuan raised an eyebrow with interest as he looked at Chen Zizhen and his companions.

Before he could ask more questions, Long Yu added, "I will explain later. We are going to head to their place in the slum now to check on the patients."

Noticing the poor conditions of the newcomers, Shi Xuan nodded. "Got it, Captain. I will stay at home until you return."

"Good," Long Yu said with a nod, then turned to Chen Zizhen and said, "Lead the way."

With Chen Zizhen leading the way, the group left the villa in a hurry.

Arriving at the slum's outer ring district, Yao Ran was not surprised to see tents made from various materials lined the roadside.

Walking ahead of the group, Chen Zizhen lowered his voice and said, "This way."

Following closely behind him, Yao Ran sensed an intense gaze on her back. She glanced behind but frowned when she didn't see anyone.

Walking beside her, Long Yu noticed her expression and whispered, "What's wrong?"

Yao Ran was silent for a moment before shaking her head. "Nothing."

Despite her reply, she kept looking back. Long Yu turned to check as well but didn't see anything suspicious. Before he could say more, Chen Zizhen's voice interrupted his thoughts. "Miss Yao, we will reach our place after the intersection up ahead."

Hearing this, Yao Ran turned to him and nodded.

After they walked away, two men came out from a dark alley. One of them pressed the earpiece in his left ear.

A few seconds later, he reported, "Captain, we have found Miss Yao Ran."

After he said that, Wu Yehao's voice came through the earpiece. "Where?"

"In the slum's outer ring district. I have activated the locator, and we will keep following her," the man replied as he and his teammate discreetly tailed Yao Ran at a safe distance. "Good. We will be there shortly. Make sure Miss Yao Ran stays safe," Wu Yehao ordered. "Yes, Captain."

After ending the call, Wu Yehao sent a message to the group chat through his watch.

With that, he leaped from the roof of a residential building and swiftly made his way to the slum.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Meanwhile, Yao Ran and her group arrived at a large tent pieced together from scraps and cardboard.

Standing outside, Yao Ran heard coughing from within and asked, "Is this your place?"

Chen Zizhen shook his head as he lifted the cloth serving as a door. "There is no hospital or infirmary in the slum, so we built this tent when we moved here. It serves as the infirmary for my team and the nearby survivors."

As Yao Ran stepped inside, her expression darkened at the sight of the dirty environment and the patients' bad conditions.

When Long Yu tried to follow her in, she stopped him. "A Yu, please wait outside."

Long Yu glanced inside and, understanding her concern, held her hand gently. "Take precautions," he whispered.

Yao Ran smiled, "I will."

She retrieved a respiratory mask and surgical gloves from her space and, after putting them on, entered the infirmary while Long Yu remained on guard outside.

Inside, Yao Ran looked at Chen Zizhen and said, "This place needs to be cleaned up."

Chen Zizhen sighed at her words and explained, "We have no disinfectants or even water for basic hygiene. There is no way we can clean this place up."

One of the patients stirred and opened his eyes. He turned and saw Yao Ran in clean clothes and a respiratory mask.

He pushed himself to sit up and asked weakly, "Brother Chen, who is this young lady?"

Chen Zizhen turned to him and helped him sit up. "This is Miss Yao Ran," he replied. Hearing this, the patient's eyes lit up as he grabbed Chen Zizhen's arm. He lowered his voice and asked, "Brother Chen, has she agreed to help us?"

Chen Zizhen nodded and explained, "I have joined Miss Yao's team, and she's agreed to accept all of us. As long as we follow their rules, she promises to provide us with food, supplies, and a place to live. She is here today to examine you guys."

After he said that, the other patients turned to look at Yao Ran with hopeful expressions.

Under their intense gazes, Yao Ran approached the nearest patient and opened her medicine box. The patients were lying on the ground with only cardboard for bedding, so she squatted down beside one.

Taking out her stethoscope, she said, "I will check your condition first."

The patient nodded and said with difficulty, "Thank you."

Yao Ran examined his lungs and then said, "Your lungs are rotting away."

The patient's pale face turned ashen at her words. "Am I dying?" he asked weakly.

Yao Ran retrieved a bottle of diluted lake water from her space. She gave it to the patient and instructed, "Drink a cup of this medicine twice a day. You will recover once you finish it."

She placed the bottle beside him, stood up, and moved to the next patient.

An hour later, Yao Ran finished the treatment. She closed her medicine box and said, "All of you have the same disease caused by the fog. If you drink the medicine I have given you, you will recover in a few days."

The patients were overjoyed when she said that and expressed their gratitude.

"Thank you, Miss Yao, for your help."

When Yao Ran stepped out of the infirmary, she saw Long Yu nearby and called, "A Yu."

Long Yu turned around and saw her. He quickly approached and asked, "Are you finished

here?"

Yao Ran nodded and explained, "All of them have lung deterioration caused by the fog. I have given them medicine, and they will be fine as long as they take it as instructed."
