MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1117 True Nature

1117  True Nature

Just like what You told him, Valyr's interest really wasn't piqued when the man told him about the things he'd get if he were to join their squad. After all, he wasn't really someone who lacked merit points at the moment, especially after considering his expenditure the past week.

At the same time, he also wasn't someone who was in dire need of a set of elixir. Sure, the elixirs would give him a slight power boost. However, his current level of strength was already more than enough to steamroll through 10-star mercenary missions if he wanted to.

On top of that, if he really was in the need of some elixirs, he could just ask Mystia for some directly. Why bother taking a more roundabout method?

'Speaking of elixirs, I still haven't consumed the set of Advanced-level Reinforcement Elixir she gave me,' thought Valyr to himself, briefly donning a bitter smile at the thought.

With that being said, although the things he'd gain from accepting this offer wasn't really much in his eyes, the same could not be said for the last thing You planned on offering them.

'Access to missions made for Iron Mercenaries, huh?'

Pondering over it for a bit, it did not take long for him to understand why the two were able to guarantee such a thing. After all, You was a Colonel, a rank that was equivalent to a 10-Star Mercenary.

From what Aleos told him before, only 10-star mercenaries were able to access missions from Iron Mercenaries.

Considering how even missions made for 10-star mercenaries couldn't pose that much of a challenge for him with his current strength, it could be said that Valyr's interest was piqued after hearing he could gain access to those missions.

However, after pondering over it for a bit more, the young man's interest in the matter gradually disappeared. Instead, he began thinking of it as something similar to the other things the two wanted to give him.

'Though gaining access to mission for Iron Mercenaries does sound tempting, it's not like having access to it would change much about what I'm doing right now,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself, soon coming to a decision.

Letting out a faint sigh, Valyr gave both Zuo and You an apologetic smile as he shook his head. "I apologize. I appreciate the offer, but I'll have to decline."

"Decline?" Unsurprisingly, the two looked at him with slight surprise, only for them to look at each other soon after in slight confusion.

"Yes," said Valyr in response, his turning turning bitter after noticing the greater confusion that appeared on their faces.

Of course, it wasn't as if Valyr planned on declining the offer of the two from the start. The things they were offering him were more than enough to entice any other person in joining their War Squad.

Unfortunately for them, Valyr wasn't just any other person.

Though having access to Iron Mercenary missions would definitely speed up his promotion to a higher rank, it wasn't as if he was in a rush to get as high of a rank as possible. After all, he'd already become a 6-star mercenary within a week.

With his strength verified to be more than enough to handle 10-star mercenary missions, Valyr surmised that he wouldn't even need an entire month in the frontlines to reach the rank necessary to take on Iron Mercenary missions on his own.

Whilst the young man was slightly engrossed in his thoughts, Zuo and You eventually recovered their countenances as they looked back at Valyr. "You sure you don't want to join our War Squad? The Elite War Squad Tournament is about to start in a month, you know?"

"Not only that, but they say that the winning prize for the War Squad that gets first place is 3,000 merit points for each member," added Zuo in a bid to make Valyr change his mind. "Imagine how much you could do with 3,000 merit points!"

Surprisingly, after hearing that he'd be able to get a windfall of merit points from participating in the tournament, Valyr's expression briefly turned into that of hesitation as he had an idea on how many missions one would have to take in order to get that much merit points. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

However, just like what transpired earlier, the allure of the large sum of merit points gradually disappeared in Valyr's mind, causing his decision to become more firm than ever before. "Although that does sound appealing, I'll still have to decline your offer."

"Are you really going to decline our offer, just like that?" asked You in response, his slightly arrogant tone causing Valyr to frown. "Even though we've come all our way to appear in front of you? Even though both of us have higher ranks than you?"

Whoosh!

Just as You finished saying those words, the two immediately flared their auras in their entirety, directing all of it towards Valyr in a bid to intimidate him. "We've already shown you so much goodwill, yet you're going to throw it away just like that?"

Seeing how forceful the two became just because he declined their offer, Valyr's impression of the two immediately soured as he showed indifference to their auras. "Goodwill? In what world does interrupting a person seem like goodwill? In what world does intimidating a person for declining your offer seem like goodwill?"

"I've already made myself clear." At this point, a small group of people had taken notice of what was going on between the three, wanting to see the situation unfold. "I reject your offer of joining your War Squad."

"Also, do you really think that tactic would work on me?" Scoffing at the auras the two were blasting at him, Valyr went ahead and flared his entire aura in response, directing all of its force straight towards Zuo and You.

Swoosh!

In less than an instant, the two immediately felt like they were prey being stared at by a predator, causing their bodies to shudder all of a sudden.

Though, just as they thought that the young man in front of them was about to make yet another move, the aura he flared out disappeared in an instant, only for Valyr's voice to echo far behind the two not long after.

"Just in case you try to persuade me to join your War Squad again, let me tell you this now," said the young man, his words loud enough for everyone to hear.

"No matter how many times you two try, I'll reject it every time!"

With that, the young man eventually made his way to the Blacksmith Guild's mission hall, prompting many who'd watched the entire situation unfold to discuss it with one another.

As for Zuo and You, the two had unsightly expressions on their faces after obtaining Valyr's vehement disapproval. Recalling the aura the young man targeted at them, their expression turned even more unsightly, with Zuo even gritting his teeth.

"Are we just gonna leave it like this?" Zuo looked at You beside him as the two decided to head to the barracks for the meantime. "I know we can find other people for the War Squad, but the way he treated us pisses me off."

"It pisses me off as well, but don't worry," said You back as he assured him. "We'll focus on finding other members for the War Squad for the meantime. After all, that takes precedence."

"However, that doesn't mean we'll forget about him."

With a glint in his eye, he told Zuo with a furious expression. "As long as he hasn't accepted our offer of joining our War Squad, I'll make sure his time here remains a living hell."

"On the day he changes his mind and decides to accept… we'll surely return the humiliation he gave us back to him tenfold… no."

"A hundredfold."
