Chapter 555: Chapter 555 – The Distance of One Arrow

Just as everyone thought Li Yao was about to be instantly killed by this unexpected move, Li Yao just stood there, seemingly aware that he couldn’t dodge the attack, no longer bothering to evade.

“Behold the skill you wanted to see for yourself, goodbye!” The Whirlwind reappeared on Li Yao’s right side, once again swinging a flash of sword light. His face was full of surprise and smug satisfaction.

Swish, swish, swish…

The chilling slashes of sword light split into countless smaller ones at the spot, with the biggest one charging towards Li Yao as the four-part attack came to an end.

Thud, thud, thud…

All of the flashes of sword light passed without exception through Li Yao’s body. Li Yao laughed, “Did you really think I was done for? It’s indeed time to say goodbye.”

After speaking, Li Yao immediately pulled the trigger, and a dark golden light shot out.

Thud…

A Crossbow Arrow directly pierced the throat of the Whirlwind, who had a look of disbelief on his face.

“Wha-wha…?”

The Whirlwind clutched his throat as he fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Clang, clang, clang…

The Whirlind’s weapon fell to the ground. Li Yao leisurely walked forward, picked up the Two-handed Great Sword and after examining it said, “A level 20 purple Two-handed Great Sword, looks like you really invested in this. Thanks.”

Soon, the Whirlind was revived. He looked unwilling as he returned to his own side of the line, unable to resist asking, “What skill was that?”

Li Yao shrugged, “So you wanted to play some tricks, huh? Fine by me. I’ll tell you – this is a skill that comes with the weapon dropped by the final boss in the mainline dungeon.”

“Bullshit, you just got lucky and it happened to counter our guild leader’s skill. Otherwise, you would have died a long time ago, you dolt,” the Deputy Guild Leader of the Whirlind side blurted out.

If they could have defeated Li Yao, they would have received twice the commission. Now that they had lost everything, their hearts were naturally filled with extreme frustration.

The adorably naive Dumb-Eyeball immediately took umbrage, and taunted, “You’re just a dumbass, your whole family is dumb. If big brother hadn’t deliberately gone easy on you, just to see what kind of dirty tricks you’ll pull, your so-called Whirlwind wouldn’t have lasted ten seconds against him. What a joke.”

The others were immediately at a loss for words. Although they didn’t want to admit it, the fact that Li Yao had gone easy on them was undeniable — even an ordinary player could see it.

Ignoring the fact that Li Yao didn’t use his pet, all spectators knew of Li Yao’s archery speed. If he had been attacking at his normal rate, the Whirlwind would have had trouble approaching Li Yao at all.

“Next, who else wants to challenge our Boss? Hurry up, we need to go home and have a barbeque,” Shadow Dance called out loudly.

The Ambassador of the Spark Guild asked, “Who’s next?”

At this point, a knight holding a shield slowly stepped forward and arrogantly said, “I heard you can’t find an opponent. Well, same here. I hope you won’t disappoint me.”

Li Yao sneered, “Sure, very dominant. You even stole my line, ‘Arrogant Ruler’. You’re really something. You didn’t even put any thought into your name!”

“The name doesn’t matter. As long as I can kill you, that’s a good name. Are you ready? I am coming,” Arrogant Ruler responded while already holding his weapon and shield. A flash of light even surrounded him, clearly he used a scroll.

“Seems you’re fond of stealing my lines. Just let me know once you’re ready. I despise bastards who steal my lines, so this round, I won’t be giving you any chances to use tricks,” Li Yao said as he hung two crossbows on his waist and pulled out the Blue Moon Bow. With a casual swing, the bow transformed into a full moon shape.

“Oh really? I’ll give you a word of advice, you’d better summon your pet, otherwise you won’t even have the chance to summon it,” Arrogant Ruler said with the same arrogant look on his face.

Not only the members of the Spark Guild, but all spectators were shocked. This guy was really arrogant! He was even more arrogant than Li Yao, absolutely unbelievable!

“Hee hee, big brother finally has a worthy opponent,” the adorably naive Dumb-Eyeball seemed to take pleasure in Li Yao’s misfortune. “I just hope he’s not a paper tiger.”

“Well, then, let’s have at it.”

Suddenly, Li Yao grew more alert as well. This guy was so arrogant, he must have something to back up his bluster. Li Yao showed some respect and started to shoot.

Boom…

The instant Li Yao drew his bow, Arrogant Ruler stomped hard on the ground which seemed to tremble in response.

Then, a muddy yellow light enveloped him, covering his armor with a layer of rock, transforming his weapon into something resembling a massive stone hammer. Most notably, his shield transformed into an iron fortress.

Ding, ding, ding…

The arrows shot rapidly by Li Yao only sparked small amounts of Mars on his shield, dealing only -50-100-80 damage to Arrogant Ruler.

“Impressive, you were able to penetrate my defense,” Arrogant Ruler said, before charging towards Li Yao. Any normal player would have only been able to inflict about ten to twenty points of damage. For someone like him, who had activated effects that brought him close to having ten thousand hit points, it was practically negligible.

Even though he was a knight and didn’t specialize in healing, he still knew a few healing spells.

Boom, boom, boom…

As Arrogant Ruler walked, each step created a shock wave, causing the earth to quake as if he was a Giant.

“Indeed, there’s something strange about you. So you changed your profession to an Elemental Knight,” Li Yao muttered, then immediately started charging a level four Charged Arrow with a ‘dominance’ effect applied over the top.

Thud…

The dark gold arrow pierced his shield directly.

Boom, boom, boom…

-888

With that damage number, Arrogant Ruler was blasted back five to six steps by the enormous force.

A trace of fear flashed in Arrogant Ruler’s eyes, but he quickly cast a healing spell on himself, immediately replenishing his health, before charging towards Li Yao again.

However, things did not go as planned. Every time he took a few steps forward, Li Yao’s Charged Arrow with a ‘dominance’ effect would knock him back to where he had started from.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

The Spark Guild and the live-streaming audience burst into laughter. This class was indeed impressive, but with such a strong defense, he also ended up losing most of his agility.

His health was gradually decreasing. After all, he wasn’t really a magic-oriented class and his mana was limited. Using it all for healing, he wouldn’t be able to cast any abilities and that would be awkward.

Even if he was at his best in terms of agility, the chances of him being able to dodge Li Yao’s arrows were slim.

After scrambling around for quite a while, he was farther away from Li Yao than he started and his health was gradually wearing down. The confidence and arrogance in his eyes gradually faded.

“Not bad. It’s been a while since I found a sandbag that can take a beating like this. Don’t hoard your mana, heal yourself, let me have a bit more fun,” Li Yao laughed.

“Don’t get cocky, just don’t let me get close to you,” Arrogant Ruler grumbled.

In his current state, although Arrogant Ruler did have some ranged abilities, they were at most 25 yards. The notion of hitting Li Yao, who was more than 100 yards away, was simply outlandish.

“That’s because you’re too clumsy. Even though I haven’t moved an inch, you can’t reach me. You blaming me now?” Li Yao said as he walked towards him, “Here, I’ll come to you, you stay put.”
