Chapter 109: - Their Lives Had Improved

That night, the living room was filled with the quiet hum of Leon and Freya. The soft glow from their laptops cast shadows on the walls as they sat on the plush low-pile, leaning back against the couch. Each of them was engrossed in their research, scouring the internet for any lore or forgotten tales of the Dragon Princess.

Both were tireless in their quest, even as the clock struck eleven, signaling the approach of midnight. The mystery of the Dragon Princess had ensnared them completely, and its potential to weave them into the grand complexity of Immortal Legacy's major plotline was too alluring to resist.

Unlike games of the past, where each player could partake in the grand plot of the game, Immortal Legacy offered a unique twist-the main plotline would unfold just once, driven entirely by the players' actions. Those fortunate enough to ignite or steer the pivotal moments were destined to earn the greatest rewards.

"Leon, come look at this," Freya's voice broke the silence. She gestured to her screen.

Curious, Leon moved closer, their shoulders brushing together as they huddled around the glowing monitor.

As they compared the phrases from Leon's discovery in the Fate Trial Domain with events unfolding in the game world, the pieces began to fall into place.

[She was the hope. The chosen one.]

Leon read aloud.

Freya nodded, her brow furrowing in concentration. "The first phrase clearly indicates that this Dragon Princess has been destined to become the Greed Champion from the beginning. It hints at her royal lineage."

Leon nodded, absorbing her insights. "Yes, that makes sense."

She survived. While the others perished.]

"This part undoubtedly refers to the decimation of the royal Dragon family," Freya said. "The King and other significant figures were wiped out in a ruthless collaboration between the high elves and demons."

"And then?"

"She lived with those lower than her. She was saved by the humble one," she recited before continuing with clarity. "I finally understand this part. This refers to an occurrence on the West Continent."

"The West Continent?" Leon inquired.

"Yes, the Dragonkin... This happened among the Dragonkin," she explained. "Dragonkin are a unique race with a blend of human and dragon characteristics. They possess dragon blood, which grants them enhanced physical abilities and some dragon-like features."

She paused, allowing Leon to digest the information before continuing. "I believe the term 'lower' here refers to the Dragonkin race."

Leon's eyes narrowed as he contemplated the implications. "Are Dragonkin truly dragons?" The asked, seeking clarification.

Freya shook her head gently. "No, Dragonkin are not full dragons. They are a distinct race with a mix of human and dragon characteristics. They possess dragon blood but do not reach the full power or form of true dragons. Essentially, while Dragonkin have some dragon-like traits and abilities, they are fundamentally different from full dragons in terms of form, size, power, and cultural context."

"And then? What happened next?" he prompted, eager to delve deeper into the mystery. Freya took a deep breath, her eyes narrowing in concentration.

"Okay, so... Several decades ago, there was a massacre involving a tribe of Dragonkin on the West Continent. This was carried out by a mysterious organization, rumored to be searching for something among the Dragonkin."

Leon furrowed his brow in contemplation. "Could it be that the Dragon Princess was among them?"

"I'm inclined to think so," Freya replied.

[But then, another disaster struck. A calamity seemed to follow her.]

[Everything perished. Except her.]

"This ties in perfectly with what the fourth and fifth parts say," Freya continued, her voice steady as she pieced together the fragments of the tale.

"So, has the Dragonkin been completely wiped out?" Leon inquired.

"Not entirely," Freya clarified, shaking her head. "It was just that one tribe that became the target of this mysterious organization."

[The girl was so isolated. She felt forgotten and forlorn.]

[The voice told her of her destiny. To fulfill a heavy duty of her people.]

[The girl had a choice to make. To accept her fate or run away.]

[She thought of the people she used to know. But they were gone, so she chose to stay.]n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"She chose to stay?" Leon murmured softly, his mind ticking over the implications. "On the West Continent?"

"Possibly," Freya replied, tapping a thoughtful finger against her chin. "But I'll dig for more information. At least we've made some real progress with this quest."

After some moments of silence, Freya spoke again, her tone thoughtful. "I think, one day, we ought to visit the West Continent..." She paused. "Later, when you're better prepared-with your level, equipment, and everything."

Leon nodded in agreement to her words. "Agreed. Let's handle these challenges, one step at a time."

"Okay," she replied.

Time passed in a blur of focused research, their concentration undisturbed until suddenly, Freya's head drooped to the right, coming to rest gently against Leon's shoulder. He remained still for a moment, glancing down to see her breathing slow and even out, her eyes closed in peaceful slumber.

A smile spread across his face as he watched her sleep. He marveled at her passion for Immortal Legacy and the myriad mysteries it held. Freya's dedication wasn't about becoming the strongest player but uncovering the game's secrets and delving into its lore. Perhaps it was this passion that drove her to work on the game and choose to serve as the guardian of a Divine Champion.

Soft footsteps approached, and Leon looked up to see Lily quietly entering the room. She noticed Freya asleep on his shoulder and covered her mouth to stifle a silent giggle. Without a word, she slipped away, only to return moments later with a blanket in her arms, which she

tossed gently to Leon.

Leon carefully draped the blanket over Freya, who now appeared fully at ease resting against him. Her warmth and tranquility filled the room with a sense of calm.

"Marry her, brother," Lily whispered with a teasing smile. "I approve..."

"Shut... up..." Leon murmured back.

The next morning, Leon was up early, lacing his running shoes and ready for his daily jog. As he stepped outside, he noticed something different. Lily was already waiting for him, perched on her bicycle with a bright smile on her face. She wore a matching training outfit and a cap, her hair peeking out messily from underneath it. She waved energetically as soon as she saw

him.

Leon jogged over. "What are you doing? I thought you'd still be asleep."

"I'm here to keep you company on your run... But I'll be riding my bike instead," she said with

a giggle.

He chuckled and adjusted her cap, tucking away the stray strands of hair. "Alright, I'd be glad to have your company."

"Okay, let's go!" Lily cheered, punching the air with her right fist.

As Leon started his run, the streetlights were still casting their faint glow over the pavement. Lily followed him at a leisurely pace, her bicycle wheels whirring smoothly as they rolled over

the asphalt.

"Tell me, Lily, how's school going for you? Are you having fun?" Leon asked, keeping his pace

steady.

With a broad smile, she nodded. "Uh-huh," she replied. "I'm really enjoying my new school... I even made a new friend." She paused, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "Maybe I'll introduce you to them next time?"

"Is it a boy?"

"Uhm... no, it's a girl," she replied quickly. "But... Now I'm reconsidering introducing you..."

"Why?"

"I don't know... but let me think more about this plan," she said with a giggle.

"So, what are you learning in school, Lily?"

"It's pretty much the same as any other school... but we also play Immortal Legacy," she said,

her excitement evident in her voice.

Leon turned his head slightly, still keeping his pace. "So, you have an Immortal Legacy character now? Why didn't you tell me?"

She chuckled. "Wait for the right moment, okay? I won't be joining you in any dangerous adventures... I'm just having fun. So, make sure you're strong enough to protect me when the

time comes, alright?"

Leon nodded. "Deal."

As they continued their morning routine, the world waking up around them, Leon couldn't help but feel a deep sense of contentment. Their lives had truly improved-the quiet mornings, shared moments, and the adventures they experienced together filled him with joy. Leon then ran faster, making Lily's eyes widen. "Leon...wait for me...hahaha."
