Chapter 992 To reach the center
[OP: ]
Rein was on the battlefield. Zoe, Carla, Alf, Quin, and Chry as well.
However, all of them were fighting their own battles.
-Ooooooooooooooooong!
Alf was eliminated thanks to Rein's initial attack, however, his sacrifice brought Quin some time to reorganise her troops and get ready for the following assaults.
She still had a good enough battleforce, so she was breathing a sigh of relief… However, at exactly that moment, she heard a low (bang!) noise from a distance and was surprised.
There were all kinds of sounds around them so she didn't think much of it at first but after a few seconds, her attention went to the front of the battlefield, a place that had been guarded by the Origin spearman Xlor of her team.
He was doing great, blocking the assault from the other groups and making a way to the centre for them, however, for some reason, he suddenly vanished.
It was strange how he had suddenly disappeared, however, the stranger thing was how he was eliminated and had not just vanished.
She was seeing the data that was being updated in real time by their (Watchers). It was confirmed that he was eliminated.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
And according to her watchers, it had happened because of some kind of 'bullet' that came out of nowhere.
That strange sound that they had heard just now, it wasn't simply a notice created by some kind of spell or anything.
It was a powerful projectile that was precisely aimed at the weakest point of his armoured body.
It pierced right through his defensive skill and he died on the spot by the sheer force of that attack.
Following that, there was another (bang!) notice from the same spot as before and, her scouts reported that Prince Alpheus who was leading a group of his own with Ezra to the west of the battlefield was eliminated the same way as Xlor.
It was strange, and by that time, she was not the only one who was wondering what exactly was even happening right now.
She looked around herself, asked the people around her, she even contacted Chry who was now facing Ball somewhere completely away from either of their sides.
There were a bunch of more people with them, and since the place they all were confronting one another was Very close to the central area, their goal, there was a fierce eye contact battle going on between these individuals.
They couldn't let the other one make the first move since their first move would decide the last man standing. So, they waited, and they waited till they all heard the (Bang!) sound for the third time and were ordered to retreat by their captains and commanders.
Still though, they did not move from their places even after receiving that message.
They simply continued glaring at one another… waiting for one to make some kind of move so that they can at least get out of this place and retrete.
All of them knew the moment even one of them made any move they would all have to fight and then only one or two of them would be left fighting.
Blood will be spilled in an instant. They all knew each other's speciality so they knew it also won't be a pretty fight.
Especially with Chry here.
That just made things worse.
"That was crazy…"
On the other hand, Rein was looking at a certain place on the ridge on the horizon.
Everyone knew by now where that noise had come from so they knew what was going on right now.
There was no way they wouldn't understand what the meaning of that loud noise, that strange shot, and that aim was.
There were only a few people that could even do something like that in the first place. And since none of the (Watchers) had seen Lucifer until now, they knew who the prime suspect behind this whole thing was.
"He's using the big guns without telling me."
She knew what he was doing and she knew why he was doing it, but he didn't tell her about this plan so she was upset.
"Bastard."
Yet, there was a smile on her face. A pleased smile that had a lot of meanings behind them.
She had destroyed Quin's side enough that she would crumble on her own before she could reach the centre and if Ball deals with Chry, they will have one less team to compete against.
She had also taken down two more small and weaker teams on her own with Eula dealing with the rest of the teams in the surrounding areas with their other teammates so the entire south was theirs now.
They were going to move further, and since Prince Alph was just eliminated by Eon's snipe, they will have one less headache to worry about.
"It's good that he dealt with him instead of Mia this time."
In total, Eon shot 6 shots before his weapon overloaded and exploded, but all six of those shots were successful.
He took out Xlor the biggest threat which could have led Quin to them, Prince Alph who was a pinnacle skill holder, Hide who was obviously a threat, Carla and lastly, Elio took out Luna.
He could have gone for someone else, but he had limited shots and he knew that from the start.
The weapon that he had just used almost took all the strength that he had along with every last bit of his Mana, but he was able to eliminate six great threats that could have led to their defeat.
Now, all that was left was to deal with the smaller variables and obviously strong opponents who would also be a headache for them.
And, she was going to start that with first meeting back up with him so, she was moving to the back to regroup with her team.
Going around was a fun thing, but the fact that they had taken care of so many teams by themselves surprised them greatly.
At the same time, on the opposite side, Zoe and Tia had come to an agreement.
They knew they would have to fight in order to destroy one another anyway so before they did that she decided that they should do it with the rest of the last remaining groups.
Zoe was thinking something else so she was the one that suggested this, and since Tia was going to suffer without the full strength of her team anyway, she knew this was for the better.
She made sure Zoe didn't backstab them since she was very well capable of something like that, so at the end of that, they were ready with their ending agreement.
Lizzy was on the other side and Mia was on a different side with Vienna.
The careless golem was just as much of a nightmare on that battlefield as the loud (bang!) noises that they had heard the last few times.
They knew how Lucifer simply eliminated some of the most dangerous individuals around them that could have been a big variable at the end, and since they knew he was thinking far ahead of them all, they didn't try to predict what he might have thought of them.
They just continued with what they were doing, which would have been the most weird thing in any of his possible plans.
But, they were overlooking two things…
"I guess I will start then."
-Swish!
The first was how Lucifer himself wasn't the leader of their group but someone else that was giving the group orders that he was giving him.
He was good with following along with the things so Eon could use him as well as he wanted, and since there was nothing really wrong with what he was saying to the team, they followed him without any questions.
Rein and he were following what he was saying so the others naturally did the same, but they did not know the truth of the matter either.
They were simply doing what they were told to and that made things pretty easy for his team… something the other teams won't be able to understand when they get closer to the central area.
The other big thing that they were forgetting was how the individuals that they had sent to scout the central area and secure a post of them in that place, were already either eliminated or were being eliminated by the other group's special units led by either their ace or their commanders.
"Haaaa… haaa…"
Only Chry and Ball were left on the battlefield at the end though, and both of them were wounded and exhausted after dealing with so many other people who had possessed great strengths.
Still, they weren't done yet. There was only going to be one of them standing at the end, so they still needed to continue their fight.
However, Chry overlooked something.
"I apologise, vice captain Chryses."
Unlike Chry who was simply stronger and faster than the rest of them and had one unique skill related to that speed and precision, the ability that Ball had was quite different.
-Oooooooooooooooong!
He wasn't professionally trained in any particular weapons and he didn't have any particular magical ability. Though, what he could do was simple.
"This is what Master Lucifer ordered me to do from the start."
He could absorb things. It didn't matter what he was absorbing. There really wasn't a set limit that he knew about yet, so, he could absorb anything as long as he wished for it and concentrated enough on it.
Someone else's vitality and remaining stamina was also one of them.
