Chapter 980 Eliminating the threats
[OP: ]
"He was right."
In a dark cave covered in pitch darkness, some magical lights lit up out of the blue.
{ "…!" }
Some beings were present there, in that darkness, collecting strange dark drops of a murky fluid that was dripping from the ceiling of the cave.
"He was right this time as well."
-Ooooooooooooooooooooooong!
The beings sucking the dark fluid from the ceiling of the cave resembled not humans, but strange creatures of darkness, demons born in the depths of hell, with features that were- though humanoid- were not like the mortals in any manner.
{ "Seems like You bunch still figured it out." }
The ones on the ceiling were not the only beings present in this cave, as what had met the eyes initially.
There were a few smaller creatures that were not even humanoid. They were simply uneven creatures that had shrunk down to conserve their energy.
However, sensing the multiple powerful presences around them, which had appeared out of the blue, as well as the barricade that was laid down all around this place, the shrunken creatures had no choice but to revert back to their original forms.
{ "Even the great Lords are wrong sometimes, huh." }
The Mana voice of these 'Brighter' beings was like the voice of the divine beings that had manifested in the mortal realm.
While on the other hand, the reaction of the 'Darker' beings sucking the demonic energy seeping through the ceiling was similar to mindless demonic beasts who knew nothing more than to follow their basic instincts.
{ "Still… they had warned US." }
In the darkness, the brighter beings exploded with their innate light, disregarding the harm that would be done to the Darker ones on the ceiling.

"But they didn't tell you what to do if this happens, did they?"
The eyes glowing with countless colours looked at the bright creatures with a smirk.
He was mocking them…
But the brighter creature was not affected by the smirks of this individual.
[{( You still made a mistake coming here, Mortals. )}]
The plan was sacrificed, so there was no need to keep these darker creatures which were supposed to be used as a weapon against the enemy on the surface.
-OOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!
The brighter ones exposed their divine presence completely, and just a slight touch of that presence disintegrated the darker creatures contracted with high ranking noble demons possessing abundance of demonic energy.
[{( You do not know what you have brought upon yourselves! )}]
The bright surge of divine power disintegrated everything it came into contact with: the soil around them, the ceiling and floor made of stronger stones, the darkness present all around them, the weaker Mana in the environment, even the microscopic living organisms that could survive in the harshest of the conditions.
This was a divine power, something mortals could not comprehend with their limited understanding of this world.
However…
"Oh I know very well what I have brought upon myself."
A single hand movement of the headmaster, and the being that was surging with endless divine power, was frozen solid in their place.
"What did you think? We would be affected by that indirect divine power?"
Around his hand, a string of primordial energy danced harmoniously synchronised with the colours present in his eyes.
It was the divine authority that he had earned himself, unlike Them who used the powers that were given to them by someone else.
"Have you ever thought why those Masters of yours would want you to hide if they had even a slight confidence in the powers they had given you?"
Divinity wasn't similar to Mana, Aura, Aether, Arcane, demonic energy, or even the holy powers.
A vessel of the divine, someone who had received their power from the other higher beings, could never be compared to a [Transcendent] that had not only understood multiple truths of this world, but had broken through the Mortal limitations with their own spirit.
They were liberated beings unlike the mortals, possessors of abundant powers granted to them by the very nature that they all born from.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
The divinity that they have, the divine powers to play with the laws of this universe, were different from the powers Permitted to these Avatars.
"Yes you are a threat too great for any of us to ignore, but don't think even for a moment that you can just come and harm My children or this place for that matter."
There was an endless rage in his eyes.
Even the other individuals present there with him, the ones who maintained this artificial subspace created to take care of these brighter beings, felt a child chill run down their spine when they saw that unfamiliar look in those ever calm eyes.
"Rats, insects. That's all you are in this world. Nothing more than what should be poisoned to death!"
He closed his hand in a fist, and squeezed his fingers… until the brighter being started screaming.
[{( Arghhhhhhhh…! )}]
The divine power that was granted to them, the powers that were beyond any mortal understanding, were clashing within their body.
They were going berserk without them using any of it.
The pain and agony that only a mortal could feel, emotions that were sentient, something they should not be feeling anymore, overwhelmed them.
[{( ARGHHHHHHHHHHH…! )}]
And with the passage of each second, it only got worse.
"…"
The headmaster, Merlin, looked at them with utter hatred which ultimately was directed at his inability to see through this obvious scheme.
A student of his, someone he was obliged to protect and help reach their destined potential, was helping him multiple times even going out of his way, sharing a kind of burden that only he, as the headmaster of the academy, as someone with the responsibility of maintaining the balance of this world, should bear.
He was becoming so incapable of seeing through these simple schemes that he had to ask for help from the children that had not even seen half of this world, someone who were still young and had a bright future ahead of them.
He did not like himself for what he had to do anymore… his powerlessness and helplessness… he didn't want to burden them anymore.
"Begone."
-OOOOOOOOOOOONG…!
[{( … )}]
Not with a conference, not with things that they had no need to be worried about, and certainly not with the matters that were way beyond their control.
They had great potential, and perhaps in the future, they will want to take on this responsibility on their own.
By then, they would have all the power and qualifications they require as well, perhaps, they would have transcended their mortal boundaries as well.
But by then, they were only going to be children in his eyes.
Children that he must protect.
Children that still had countless things to learn about themselves, as well as this amazing world that they live in.
"I'll leave the body in your hand, Lady Yan."
{ "Yes, headmaster." }
This was just the start for their final clean up.
After spending the last few hours searching all the underground pockets created by the Core's energy radiation, they had found the rats that had been hidden from their eyes all this time.
They knew about them now, and thanks to the insight provided by Eon, they also knew what they were planning to do with that specific creature, the demonic corruption, and with those daggers that aggravated the demonic energy that was seeping through the soil of the island.
It was a highly detailed plan that even he failed to see through, but… thanks to him, they prevented another disaster.
"Let's move."
They gained this chance thanks to him, and he did not know how he would repay him as not just the headmaster, but as Aldrich Merlin, a wizard that loved this world.
"Yes headmaster…"
He knew he had to at least thank them all once again, but he could do that when he's done with those damned bastards following those damned traitors who sided with these damned Evil cultists.
On the surface, it should already be late evening by now.
The festival was about to reach its conclusion and the Queen was about to come to greet the students, the guests, and the crowd that had arrived here today.
He had to be present at that time, and to do that, he would have to wrap up these damned bastards as quickly as possible without even a single one of them knowing.
"Haaa… haaaa…"
He was using too much of his power for that, he was even exhausting the individuals that were helping him.
They weren't complaining but he knew they were exhausted as well.
Maintaining a spatial separation barrier, using their powers to block the entire connection with the outside world, even using powers that they wouldn't use in an all out war against these mere nuisances was exhausting for them.
However, just like how he had the duty to look after this world, they had the duty to look after their own lands, their people, and their homes.
And just like how the headmaster couldn't do that with these damned cultists present there, they could not do so either.
This was the first step towards the eradication of these evil beings. And they were going to keep cutting down their numbers until the Time comes.
They all knew what they had to do to effectively deal with these bastards and not give them what they wanted.
World end would mean the destruction of their homes as well, and as [Monarchs] of their lands, they couldn't let that happen either.
There was a reason they were helping the headmaster right now.
Still…
The hatred they had for these damned cultists as well as everyone connected with them was almost as deep as the headmaster's.
Even if there wasn't anything in this for them, they might have still helped him because of this hate.
But for now… this help was transactional.
They were in this for something they also needed.
Doing it like this just made things simpler as well.
