Book 3: Chapter 14: Sirin, the Restless Sleeper
Kal’tsit: Lend me 1,000 points. I’ll return them soon.
He Who Knows Fate: …Sure.
Chen Heng had 16,000-odd points right now. He just needed to ensure he had over 10,000 points, as the Ability Third Awakening required that much.
Chen Heng had set 10,000 points as his first target, which he already achieved. His second target was 50,000, enough to repair the Absolute Precognition.
Right now, there was plenty of leeway in either direction. As long as he maintained at least 10,000 points, he did not mind.
Furthermore, it was easy to earn points in the Dimension Administrators Association. If one could not complete a big mission, one could do many small ones. Both methods could earn points, so he did not worry that Kal’tsit could not pay him back.
Should Kal’tsit dare to default… Haha! Chen Heng was an administrator.
Chen Heng had at least a hundred ways to make Kal’tsit die a social death in the group without her being able to do anything about it. ~(~o ̄▽ ̄)~o
Chen Heng did not mind these 1,000 points. He even felt Kal’tsit was not worldly-wise, the kind of person who separated the personal from business and never dragged things out.
He Who Knows Fate: I’ve already sent it over in a private message. Can I ask why you need 1,000 points?
Kal’tsit: To cure a disease.
Efreet: ??? What disease is so expensive to cure?
Kal’tsit: Oripathy.
17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: Oripathy should be a disease unique to their world, right? Furthermore, I guess it is incurable or a disease that threatens the entire world, right?
[TL Note: Oripathy is a progressive, terminal disease in Arknights. Here’s more information on Oripathy: /wiki/Oripathy.]
Kal’tsit: Oripathy is an incurable disease. Those with Oripathy are known as the Infected. Oripathy can increase the patient’s Arts power in a dangerous way, but tapping into this power will hasten their deterioration and eventually lead to death. At that point, the body becomes a new source of infection.
17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: I guessed right, then. Most games, comics, and animes have this as a common trope. They use some reason to create a conflict, then use that to proceed with the story.
Umaru-chan: Is this based on your experience reading comics?
Kal’tsit: I already looked in the association’s store. The recipe for Oripathy’s cure is worth 100,000 points. The cure itself costs 1,000 points. Medicine to suppress the disease costs 50 points. Who knows how many people in the world have Oripathy? We won’t have enough points if we only buy the medicine. Furthermore, it would not be as worthwhile, so we have to buy the recipe.
He Who Knows Fate: Honestly speaking, 100,000 points for the recipe for the cure is reasonable. After all, it is a medicine that can cure the entire world. There is no way it would be cheap. While 100,000 points sound like a lot, you can get it after completing some missions.
Kal’tsit: Unfortunately, the association’s store does not buy. Otherwise, it would be much easier. Fortunately, I can get those nations to play their part. Letting them benefit without doing anything? How could there be something so good in the world?
Efreet: A buying function? I feel that the association’s store will never have such a function. After all, it won’t have a use for those items. What does the association’s store not have? Do they even need to buy from us? Who would they sell to? To the world consciousnesses? The world consciousnesses have no need for those things.
He Who Knows Fate: It’ll be tough on Kal’tsit; the weight of a world is all on her shoulders alone. After all, it is 100,000 points. While it’s not a lot, it’s definitely not little.
Kal’tsit: Thank you for your concern.
He Who Knows Fate: Are you using the medicine for yourself or someone by your side?
Kal’tsit: It’s for the true leader of our company. Her infection rate is already very high. I’m fine; I still have a long time. The 1,000 points…I should have them after taking some time to do a mission.
Chen Heng didn’t mention lending her more. He could tell Kal’tsit was an extremely calm and rational person. She would not borrow less just because of embarrassment. Since she only needed one portion of the cure, she definitely had her own plans.
Magus of Flowers: Phew! It’s finally over. He Who Knows Fate, can you not mute me so frequently?
He Who Knows Fate: That is not up to me but you. If you did not attack me, would I mute you?
Magus of Flowers: Can an administrator do as he pleases?
He Who Knows Fate: Sorry, an administrator really can do as he pleases. Furthermore, I don’t think you will change. Look at how many missions you’ve completed. You don’t even have any evaluation points for applying to be an administrator, right?
Magus of Flowers: That’s because I did not know you could use evaluation points to apply to be an administrator.
17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: I feel that even if you had known, you would still complete a pitifully small number of missions. Your laziness is incorrigible.
Magus of Flowers: Tsk.
Solomon: If Merlin becomes an administrator, it would be over for this association.
Efreet: I dare not imagine such a scene. Right now, He Who Knows Fate can suppress Merlin as an administrator. If Merlin became an administrator, then the association would…disband. Reason: Merlin’s wretched mouth inciting large-scale arguments and battles between members, resulting in injuries and deaths…
He Who Knows Fate: Well, I’ve chatted for a long time. It is time to sleep. I’ll see everyone tomorrow. Goodnight!
Efreet: See you tomorrow. Goodnight!
I Have a Strong Presence: Goodnight!
After closing the chat group interface, Chen Heng returned his consciousness to reality.
Chen Heng saw that Sirin had changed her posture, hugging him in another way—which gave him a headache. Right now, she had nestled into his embrace, using his arm as a pillow and his body as a body pillow. She hugged even tighter than before.
Although Chen Heng practiced martial arts and had reached the peak of a martial artist, his muscles had not become exceedingly hard, thanks to the Chen Clan’s medicinal bath recipe passed down from his ancestors. This allowed him to preserve sufficient strength and speed without turning into a bulky, muscular person. Everyone in the Chen Clan was a sword cultivator. Naturally, they needed to appear ethereal. How could one be a sword immortal with bulging muscles and thick limbs?
Sirin hugged Chen Heng increasingly tighter, stimulating Chen Heng even more. And worse, Sirin’s body was very soft.
I have to think of another way. I cannot keep killing time in the chat group. Chen Heng was only a martial artist, not a cultivator. He still needed to sleep.
