Chapter 45 Captain Aelia's Hate

45  Captain Aelia's Hate

The place where she had led him was none other than the dining room, and Hael wasn't the least bit inclined to complain at all as he looked at the array of food, which was steaming hot.

"Nice..." Hael said out loud, but his face contorted just before he dived in, and he turned to look at Captain Aelia.

"What?" she asked as Hael turned his attention to the food.

"You said I have been asleep for four days. Then how did you prepare this so that it is still steaming now?" he asked as she shrugged.

"Jessica told me three to five days. All I did was make sure to simply cook fresh food each day. Seems it was worth it," she said as Hael smiled, before quickly diving in.

"So, willing to talk about the fusion? Your experience..." Captain Aelia asked, as Hael's hands stopped just before his mouth. The memories of what had occurred entered his head, causing his heart to lurch within his chest.

"I would rather keep that as my own personal nightmare," Hael replied as Captain Aelia grinned evilly.

"She said you even had enough energy to break out of the glass after your fusion. That's some serious energy," Captain Aelia said, as Hael's face dropped.

"Was that all she said, though?" he asked as Captain Aelia gave a nod.

"Yes. You have quite the abnormal energy and willpower to be able to do that. Also, I now owe her big time," she said as he raised an eyebrow.

"For what?"

"For that," she said, pointing at him. Hael turned to where she was pointing and noted it was none other than the core.

"Yes. I heard her say it was her life's greatest creation and could rival that of a third-grade cybernetic fighter's core."

"You were even fully conscious through the ordeal!?" Captain Aelia asked, and Hael gave a nod.

"Of course, I can't sleep off and leave my fate to a psycho like that!" Hael replied as Captain Aelia giggled.

"Well, she definitely has to have the biggest heart among the psychos you have seen," she replied as Hael snorted.

"So, what does the core do? Hold energy for the cybernetics?" he asked, and Captain Aelia gave a nod.

"True. It holds an almost inexhaustible amount of energy that can't be fully used at a single time. Only around 1% is available for you right now. The more your body adapts, the more you gain access to," she explained. "The grade of the core matters. A good core is judged based on the total amount of energy present in it. That is called the Potential Value. The second most important factor is the core's replenish time. The faster, the better. As for your core, it is around three times better than the best core possible."

"Wow!" Hael exclaimed loudly.

"Yes. And it is also a miracle that you even survived it. It's simply too powerful, but you can thank your Void Breaker for being able to contain its power. If not, you would have been blown into gore if it had failed," she said as Hael's face dropped.

"Well, everything worked out well in the end," he said as he resumed his dinner. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"That solved, now we're back to the main issue that started all of this. And that is the mission. Five days have gone now, and it remains just two days before the mission begins. I am beginning to hear disturbing things starting to happen in the sector where the mission is undergoing. Words of humans suddenly turning into eldritch creatures!"

"WHHHHAAAAT!" Hael almost jumped out of his seat on hearing that, as Captain Aelia nodded her head.

"It's truly shocking. The people who have been shifted to eldritches are normal average family men who would have never done such a thing. That means the eldritch are now capturing humans and trying to turn them into eldritches. It was a failure though, as what they created was a walking zombie with no sense, simply attacking everything on sight," Captain Aelia said as Hael furrowed his eyebrows.

"But still, this has to be curbed before it becomes a success. I can't imagine how devastating it would be if the eldritch succeed in their experiment."

"It would be a catastrophe," Hael completed as Captain Aelia slammed her hands on the table.

"Bastard aliens! Extending their inferior, god-forsaken genes into the human genome. They deserve death by more than thousands of times for their genes, and by millions of times for corrupting the human race with it!" Captain Aelia barked, veins popping on her forehead.

From her eyes, Hael could sense incredibly powerful rage, her words dripping with an uncontrollable amount of bloodlust that almost chilled his heart to an ice block.

"It will be okay, Captain Aelia. It will all be fine..."

Pure feral rage burned through her being, and she found it difficult to rein in her hate. But suddenly, a warm hand wrapped around hers, and she turned her eyes to Hael, who had a reassuring smile on his face, as he slowly let go of her arms.

"Huuuu..." she finally exhaled loudly, as the veins on her head disappeared and she sat down to continue eating once more.

"Sorry for the outburst," she pleaded as Hael shrugged it off. But in his heart, Hael was now sure of a very true conclusion.

'She would kill me if she learned I'm an eldritch...' he thought, as he ate quietly.

He had expected someone whose entire family had been murdered by the eldritch to be vengeful. But he had underestimated just how vengeful Captain Aelia was behind that neutral expression of hers.

Her rage was pure and hot, and it was directed towards every eldritch creature as a whole, not just a single eldritch. Right now, all he could do was to avoid ever bringing his eldritch side out until he was very far away from her radar or at least could protect himself from her.

Something he wasn't sure would be happening anytime soon...
