Chapter 357: Overwhelming Emotions.
When Yang Ning's cold hands hesitantly touched Zheng Liang's firm, muscled chest and abdomen, guided by his own hand, Zheng Liang gritted his teeth as a surge of heat shot through his body. A certain part of him throbbed with desire, reacting intensely to her touch.
Observing her hesitation fade away, Zheng Liang released her hand, allowing her to explore his body at her own pace. He found himself relishing the light caresses of his wife's fingers, reveling in the sensation. However, his joy was short-lived.
It became evident that his wife had no intention of venturing beyond admiring his muscles, leaving him yearning for more.
For a long time, Yang Ning was engrossed in caressing his firm abdomen muscles, completely oblivious to the effect her actions were having on him. Zheng Liang desperately craved her touch, yearning for her to explore him, play with him, and show him affection.
However, she seemed oblivious to the reaction of a certain part of his body to her touch. It throbbed with heat and desperation, longing for her attention, yet his wife appeared to have forgotten about it entirely. Gritting his teeth, Zheng Liang waited eagerly for her to acknowledge it, hoping she would pamper it just as she had admired his abdomen muscles. Yet, she remained lost in her own world.
"Yang Ning, are you teasing me? Are you seeking revenge for me snatching your book earlier?" Zheng Liang asked, his voice heavy with panting breaths. Desperation tinged his eyes as he spoke, his tone laced with pleading and urgency.
Yang Ning: "??"
What did she do?
Yang Ning was surprised and confused when she looked up at him, noticing his profuse sweating and the way he gritted his teeth as if enduring something significant. Did she do something wrong? After all, hadn't he asked her to touch him? Why was he suddenly getting angry?
She snorted in displeasure and said, her voice tinged with irritation, "What did I do? Didn't you ask me to touch you? If my touch offends you so much, I won't bother." With that, she withdrew her hands, her anger reigniting.
As the anger and displeasure took over her head again, she averted her gaze, snorting mockingly. "It wasn't that great anyway. Do you think only you can have such great six-pack abs? I used to have them too, you know. Hmph!" Her tone was filled with frustration and a hint of sadness, though she couldn't quite pinpoint why.
Even though she used to have a toned body with a great physique, including six-pack abs on her best days before competitions, it wasn't something that annoyed her much after coming into this world. However, for some strange reason, she couldn't control her temper and snapped at Zheng Liang.
Zheng Liang, who was about to press his lips against Yang Ning's to teach her a lesson for teasing him and show her what it means to be teased, was caught off guard by the sudden change in her mood and tone.
After Yang Ning suddenly lashed out at him, the chamber fell into an uncomfortable silence. He wasn't expecting her to react in such a way. While their relationship had always been filled with teasing and scolding, this was the first time during an intimate moment that Yang Ning had snapped at him so coldly and rudely.
Seeing Zheng Liang's shocked expression, Yang Ning bit her lower lip and turned her head away, closing her eyes to control her overwhelming emotions. After snapping at him, she suddenly felt guilty for ruining the mood. She knew that Zheng Liang was simply teasing her and his comment wasn't even serious, but for some reason, she couldn't help but get angry at him.
These days, her mood swings have worsened considerably. She finds herself becoming angry and irritable for no apparent reason, unable to hide her emotions. There have been numerous instances where she's snapped at Xiaowei, something very out of character for her.
She had thought that her mood swings were due to work stress. Yet, it was the first time she faced such turmoil of emotions, leaving her feeling helpless against her own mood swings. Regardless of the reason, she hated that she snapped at Zheng Liang, especially when it wasn't his fault, and particularly at a moment when they finally had some time alone together.
Even on the day Zheng Xiang arrived at the palace, they shared an intimate moment. However, due to her exhaustion, they ended up just sleeping, without engaging in anything further. And now, it seemed like she had ruined yet another opportunity for intimacy.
Zheng Liang, who had been hovering over Yang Ning, was taken aback by her sudden outburst. When he came to his senses, he saw Yang Ning looking away, her eyes brimming with tears, and her lips pressed tightly together as if she was struggling to contain her emotions. What had happened? Just moments ago, she was angry with him, and now she was in tears.
Feeling both scared and shocked by the intensity of her reaction, Zheng Liang immediately got off her and sat beside her on the bed. He pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly, and whispered in a cautious yet concerned tone, "What's wrong? Why are you suddenly crying? Did I hurt you? Please, tell me."
As he gently caressed her back, offering her comfort, Yang Ning felt overwhelmed with guilt. Unable to contain her emotions any longer, she sobbed uncontrollably into his embrace, burying her face against his chest and clutching onto him tightly.
Seeing her in such distress only heightened Zheng Liang's anxiety. He gazed down at her tear-streaked face, feeling a pang of helplessness. "Yang Ning, you're scaring me. Please, calm down and tell me what happened. Did I hurt you? Did I say something wrong?
Should I call for the physician?" he asked, his voice filled with worry as he continued to rub her back, trying to soothe her.
While Yang Ning continued to sob, her breaths coming in ragged gasps, she shook her head in response to Zheng Liang's question. "Don't worry, I'm fine. I'm not hurt anywhere," she managed to choke out between sobs.
Confused and concerned, Zheng Liang couldn't comprehend why she was crying, which only heightened his worry. "Then why are you crying?" he asked helplessly, his heart aching at the sight of her distress. He had never seen her in such a state before, and the sight of her tears was heartbreaking.
Yang Ning sniffled and wiped her tears, her voice trembling as she spoke. "I'm sorry for snapping at you. I feel terrible. How could I get angry at you like that? I hate it," she cried, feeling completely unlike herself. She had never felt this vulnerable before, and her emotions were overwhelming her.
Moved by her tears and self-blame, Zheng Liang was at a loss for words. "It wasn't a big deal. I shouldn't have teased you like that. I'm sorry. Now, please stop crying and have some water. You're having trouble breathing because of crying so much, " he said gently, wiping away her tears and offering her a glass of water.
Yang Ning nodded, her throat dry from crying. With Zheng Liang's help, she sat up and took a sip of water from the glass he held. After drinking, Zheng Liang adjusted her gown and helped her lie back down on the bed, tucking her in gently.
Feeling guilty for ruining their moment, Yang Ning closed her eyes, exhaustion weighing heavily on her. As soon as her head hit the pillow, she drifted into a deep slumber, leaving Zheng Liang to ponder over the events of the night, his mind filled with confusion and concern.
