Chapter 443: The Story
Chapter 443: The Story
Elliot couldn't believe his eyes. It was Seungju who was walking to the door alongside his brothers. They surrounded the circular table, leaving the large seat empty.
"That's Seungju, right?" Lance said. "He was a true Emperor."
"He didn't have any othe reason to lie," Elliot said. "What's baffling was why the One Sun acted that way. He massacred an entire city."
A series of footsteps came running inside the room. The door opened and a man who looked exactly like the man on top of the tower, barged inside.
Their looks were very similar, but they had completely different auras. The other one whom they saw first had a thick coat of anger and menace with him while this man looked calm and cheerful.
He skipped right into the larger chair, grinning widely while all the other emperors looked at him with concerned looks on their faces.
"Aren't you worried that a person stole your identity and completely wiped out a city?" one of the Emperors asked. "Because if I were you, I'd be trembling right now."
"My son, do not fret," the man said. "I know the Abyssal Creature is trying to win people over to his side, but I didn't expect for him to be so low that he's copying me the One Sun and the Father of the Twelve Suns."
"You received the power of the Almighty when you were young," Seungju said. "And you used that power to explore the continent and collect sons and daughters."
"I did," the One Sun said. "And my plan would've also been full proof if it wasn't for the meddling of the Abyss. They're tenacious, I can say that."
A woman cleared her throat. There were three women around the table and unlike the history Elliot and the other people of the East know of, these women did not pretend to be men in order to gain the power of the One Sun.
Their outfits were of the female counterparts of the Eastern clothing and their hair were long that reached up to their backs. Makeup also covered their faces that enhanced their beauty, making them look as though they were carved by angels.
"They want your throne," an empress said. "If you still won't believe us, then we'll have to fight the impostor ourselves."
Suddenly, the mood became dark. The wide grin on the One Sun's face disappeared and it was now replaced with a serious look eyes looking dangerously sharp as he stared at the woman.
"No one will go near the ruined city," the One Sun said firmly. "Tomorrow, I will go there myself and I will eradicate those who try to taint my name."
His children didn't have any other choice but to nod. His mood did not even revert back to the light and cheery one he had not a minute ago. The dark aura remained in the room, lingering like a bitter aftertaste of a cheap wine.
"Go," the One Sun said before standing. He nodded once and left the room, leaving his children with their thoughts.
The room shook and the Adventurers were sent to the hallway where the One Sun was walking. They were following him while he roamed the halls, looking in front of him straight.
"What happens now?" Elliot asked but no one could possibly know the answer.
They were reaching the climax of the flashback being shown to them and everyone was holding their breaths. It was nerve-wracking to know what happens next and how their empire fell.
"Brother," a woman walked up to the One Sun and for the first time in three minutes, his eyes left from his front. He looked at the woman who was Sheeva, smiling at her. "I heard you were going to the Ruined City. Please let me come with you."
"Sheeva," the One Sun sighed. He ruffled her hair and led her to his room where he fell the moment the door was closed behind him.
"Brother!" Sheeva yelled, running to her brother and pulling him up. "Brother, what is happening?"
"I'm afraid I have a few time left in me," the One Sun said. "My body couldn't handle the power that the Almighty had given me and it's slowly eating my body as well as my soul."
"Brother"
"Sheeva," he cut her off, placing his hand on her cheek. "I want you to succeed the power of the One Sun and become the next Eternal. I will go to the Ruined City and use the remainder of my powers to fend of the impostor. I don't know if I can fully kill him, but I'm sure I will have a huge impact in him."
"But what about your children?" Sheeva cried. "They are the ones who got some of your powers. Why not give one of them yours?"
"That would be impossible," the One Sun said. He had regained his strength and he was now sitting on his bed while Sheeva was kneeling in front of him, crying. "My power is like a flame of a torch. I am a special person who bears a torch, unlike most people.
"When my children were born, they gained their own torches and part of my flames lit their torch, thus granting them the great powers they possess now," the One Sun continued. "But since their torch had been lit up, they cannot succeed my own torch because no person could possibly bear too. My body could barely handle one, two torches would destroy anyone."
"So, you're passing it to me?" Sheeva gulped, a mixture of fear and hope filled her eyes. "Brother, you choose me to bear your torch?"
"Yes, indeed," the One Sun said. "Once I have given you my powers, I will still have a remainder of it in myself. There will still be light for me and I will use that light to slay the impostor."
"But brother, what if you can't slay the impostor?" Sheeva asked. "What will we do?"
"You are the One Sun now," the One Sun said with a smile. He placed his hand on her chest and took a deep breath. "Accept my powers, Sheeva. I will entrust the future of this empire to you."
The One Sun's body lit up into a bright golden color. It was like the sun itself has descended from the heavens and entered his room. His power was flowing from his won body up to his palms where Sheeva's chest awaits.
"Sheeva," the One Sun yelled. "The future is in your hands."
With a blinding flash of light, the One Sun's power exploded right into his little sister. Sheeva couldn't do anything but gasp afternoon receiving such powers. She was shaking her head and she was flinching when as the powers entered her.
"Brother!" Sheeva yelled. The light was too bright that she couldn't help but close her eyes.
A few moments later, Sheeva awoke in her brother's bed. She looked around to search for the One Sun, but failed. She was alone and it was already dark. Her brother had fled to the Ruined City and she was now the Terran Eternal as well as the One Sun.
Sheeva's voice from the narration of the flashbacks spoke, "After the original One Sun left, he never came back. I have found his blood after the massacre of the Twelve Suns and that's how the story went."
