Chapter 419: Hey, Mr. Lion
Chapter 419: Hey, Mr. Lion
Everyone in the army was speechless. No one could utter a word after they saw the clear dominating powers of Daniel.
"She said to stop," Daniel himself spoke. "Yet, no one listened."
"What is the meaning of this?!"
"That's a Deep Sea Wanderer! Are you all blind?"
"It's going to kill us all if we don't do something."
The protection of the beast caused an uproar among them. Adventurers and dragons alike were screaming at them, demanding answers to their questions.
"This is how foolish humans are after all," Daniel sighed. "So pathetic."
"Did he just call us pathetic?" an Adventurer with a good hearing scoffed.
"I thought he did," another agreed. "Who is this kid? Why can he say things to us like that?"
Galaxia and the other leading Adventurers were silent. They were looking at the group of Adventurers, eyes worried that a fight was about to break out soon.
"Why do you think every single beast is evil?" Daniel asked. "Why are you all like this?"
"This little" the first guy growled. He brandished his sword and pointed it at Daniel. "Let me teach you a lesson as your senior."
His sword lit up with a bright green light. It looked like it was about to shoot out a beam. "Lesson number one. Don't interrupt when the seniors are talking!"
The man slashed his sword, aiming directly at Daniel. It was a split second before he could launch his attack when Frederick appeared in front of him. The man's eyes widened, he instead raised his sword in the air, shooting his attack to the skies.
His actions made all the Adventurers silent. Their eyes were all wide as if they just witnessed a crime. The man stepped out of line, even he himself knew that.
"F-Frederick?" the man gasped. "Sir, w-what"
"What squad are you in?" the red haired man asked, his harlequin jacket flailing in the air. When the man was unresponsive, he asked again, this time emphasizing every single word. "What. Squad. Are. You. In?"
"Squadron Four, sir," he finally replied.
After he released the words in his mouth, Frederick pointed his finger at the man's neck. "You just raised your sword at your squad leader and attempted to attack him. This is grounds for insubordination and treason."
Frederick's expression darkened as he spoke the next words, "And you know what happens to traitors."
It was like there was a giant cloud of darkness looming behind the man. Every hair in every single person's body in their army stood. Some started shivering after feeling the eerie presence of Frederick.
Before the conversation continued, Zeus placed his hand on Frederick's hand. "Freddie, relax. This man is undoubtedly ignorant."
"He is," Frederick agreed instantly. "But no one is ignorant under the law."
"It's okay," Daniel chimed in. He hovered to them and smiled. "I forgive you for your actions, but I must punish you when we return to Avancia. I cannot just let things go, but I also can't let one of us die in the middle of the sea. We need every manpower in this war."
The man felt like all the angels were singing in his ears. He nodded a couple of times and bowed. "Please forgive me for my ignorance."
Frederick scoffed and went back to Kian, the dragon they were riding on. Luck was smirking while seeing his friend reach the dragon. "You seem to take a fondness for the kid."
"You don't know how much he's been through," Frederick sighed. "You know what happened to him. You should also understand where I'm coming from."
"I do, I do," Luck smirked. "This matter is settled, but what about that beast right there? Should we just let it be?"
"You heard Aquarius," Frederick said. "It's not hostile."
They watched Christina, Viper, Florencia, and Hope land to the collective shield. With narrowed eyes, the casters of the shields deactivated their magic.
Underneath the thick layers of protection, the Deep Sea Wanderer looked at them with teary eyes. Every single person and dragon in the army had their face contorted, baffled as to why such menacing beast had this look.
"What is the meaning of this?" Zeus asked, lowering himself. "I have never seen such Deep Sea Wanderer, or any Wanderer act like this."
"He's my pet," Christina said. "He's not bad. Though, he likes to gobble down a lot of fish."
"This is very fascinating," Zeus grinned. "How can you tame such beast?"
"I am cursed," Christina confessed. She felt like she didn't need to hide anything from them. She trusted Zeus, Frederick, and all the others. When they were willing to save a beast notorious for its wrath, they should be able to accept her for who she was.
"That's amazing," Zeus grinned. He looked up and raised a thumbs up on all the Adventurers. "This beast is safe. Everyone should calm down now."
"A Wanderer being tamed? I have never heard such a thing."
"Yeah. This is the first time I've seen such beast, and to think I didn't have to die while seeing it. It must be my lucky day."
"Is it really not hostile though? Maybe if we turn around, it will kill us all and maul us like fishes."
Christina had expected that not everyone can accept the Wanderer. It was a beast after all. But the majority of the Adventurers in their army seem to be understand, and that was more than enough for her.
"Thank you, Zeus," Christina bowed.
"This is nothing," Zeus chuckled. "Everyone, let us proceed to the East. We have our men waiting for our arrival there. The earlier we come, the better."
"Let's go!" the entire fleet yelled in unison.
Christina bid farewell to the Deep Sea Wanderer, kissing it by its gigantic nose before she fled with the others.
"We will meet again, Gerome," she whispered. "Soon. I just know it."
"You named it Gerome?" Florencia snorted. "Tin, I thought you would know better. You could've called it Fang or Oceanus. You know, cooler ones."
"I didn't name it," Christina said. "He told me his name. I was just simply respecting him."
"You can talk to him?!" both her friends gasped in unison.
"How come we didn't know it?" Viper pouted. "We just thought you could understand its gestures or something. I didn't actually think you could communicate with it."
"He's a him, first of all," Christina pouted. "And I thought it would make you feel weird if I tell you I could understand Gerome."
"Weird?" Florencia scrunched her face. "That's awesome. I've always wanted to communicate with beasts. I want to talk to lions, ask them what they ate for breakfast."
"Flo, that's too much," Viper chuckled.
"No, really," the girl said. "Hey, Mr. Lion, did you eat a deer? A boar? Or a giraffe?!"
The group was happily talking to each other. The adults near them were chuckling after hearing them, shaking their heads in amusement.
Not part of those adults were the group that Frederick faced. The man he talked to was called Tanner, and he wasn't amused about everything.
He was glaring at Daniel the whole time, his mind thinking of ways he could ruin the boy.
