Chapter 392: The Magic Circle
Chapter 392: The Magic Circle
Ed watched his friends' face turn their expressions with utter shock. They looked at each other, then back at Ed.
"What?" the boy asked. He quirked his brow up and crossed his arms, the metal in his sleeves groaning as he moved it. "You doubt my investigating prowess?"
"How did you even know that?" Elliot asked. "Everything was just an illusion. I couldn't imagine who you asked to get any information."
"That's where you're wrong. The city square, all its buildings and inhabitants are made up," Ed raised his hand to point forward. "But not the castle."
"You mean the castle was real," Lance muttered under his breath. "A very complex illusion it is from Sayu. I didn't even know that everything was just an illusion. When I found out, I could've sworn the castle was fake too. But it was not. She's a master of deception."
"She's dead!" Angin yelled so loud that it garnered the attention of the group. They watched the man carry the dead Sayu in his arms while he stood and walked forward. "You killed her, K. Along with my child. K, how could you?"
"But you were the one who threw her away!" Kaminari argued. "You were the one who got very angry at the slightest words. Angin, it was your fault."
"Lies!" Angin growled. He raised Sayu's body and wrapped it with a thin gust of air. The wind carried her body from her lover's arms to the side where it gently put the bloodied corpse down. "You killed her. You killed her!"
"Wake up, Angin!" Kaminari yelled. He raise his index and middle finger in front of him, whispering something under his breath before be swung his arm and threw a lightning orb that was blue in color.
Angin grunted and brandished his sword. It was a short sword that had a wavy blade, a weapon that was called as a kris. He created small spherical winds on the inside curves of the blade, making them spin like marbles before he too swung his sword and shoot the marbles away.
The single attack from Kaminari was no match for the dozen small air spheres from Angin. The man with the blue coat had to brandish his katana fully before slashing once in the air, but nullifying all the attacks.
"You have crazy speed, K," Angin said. "But damage output was never your forte. Air Cycle!"
Like the undead from he graves, they small air spheres from Angin reformed. They all shor to Kaminari who swiftly avoided each one of the attacks.
The man watched his friend's attack hit the objects around them. Every single time the air spheres would hit something, a hole would replace it. It doesn't even matter how hard the area was. Wood, metal, stone, anything that the spheres it would have a guaranteed hole in it.
Kaminari sighed and raised his sword. He leaped from the wooden platforman and spun midair, his silver blade now blazing with blue lightning. He kept spinning until he formed a cage that had an oval shape.
Kaminari then thrust his limbs out with a great force, making the cage expand. "Lightning World!"
The lightning cage kept expanding. Elliot held onto Lance to pull him away while Kaminari attacks, but the man stood still. "Lance, we gotta go."
Elliot turned to the others and saw their petrified state. He looked at the bottom of their shoes and saw that they were slolwy turning into stones.
'Supreme Dragon Emperor's Immunity Crest activated.'
"Guys, back off!" Elliot yelled, but no one heard him. A woman walked in front of Elliot. She wore a dark grey with black detailing. Her white inner sleeves were wide and long that it went past through the cloak as she held on to her weapon.
She was carrying a white staff with two bells dangling through a red ribbon, the bells ringing even after a slight movement. The head of a staff was spiral, and a small cross made from crystal was floating in the center.
"Heavenly Purification!"
The woman slammed her staff on the ground, creating a gigantic magic circle in the entire square. With a deep sigh, the woman closed her eyes and channeled all her magic into the ground.
Elliot has never seen such a big and complex magic circle such as this. Complexity of magic circles equals to how powerful the spell is being casted.
A magic circle has rings, which determines its grade or level, color which determines the affinity or element it belongs to, and runes that dictates the intensity of the magic being casted. The more rings and runes, the stronger a magic circle is.
This woman's magic circle was green with six rings and six runes. To compare how powerful it is, Pommel the gravity Adventurer's magic circle had three rings and two runes. He used this magic circle when they fought against Clan and it made everyone in the area fly, something that is already an incredible feat.
This time, the magic circle was twice the power of Pommel's. Elliot can only wonder how it will affect them.
"What in the hell?" Connor gasped after seeing his legs that were currently morphed into stone. He tried to move it but failed, making him panic even more.
"Don't move just yet!" the woman with the gray cloak yelled. "My magic is not done yet."
The woman raised her staff and slammed it back to the ground, making the magic circle explore with a bright green light. It was blinding. Everyone could only cover their faces against the light, letting it swallow them.
When the light died down, their legs were healed. It was reverted back from the stone state that just happened a few moments ago.
Elliot looked around and saw the woman's body wobble. He couldn't see her face but he was sure that the magic circle drained her magic.
Before the woman could fall to the ground, Elliot shot himself in her direction, catching the woman in his arms just in time before she hits the floor.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" Elliot asked, gently patting the woman's shoulder. "Please respond if you're alright."
When the woman did not answer, Elliot touched the tip of her hood, a few seconds from pulling it off of her when the ground shook. The crowd started to panic once more as they felt something under the earth about to come out.
Right in front of Elliot, the earth bulged. It started to crack until a figure emerged from it. There was dust that formed as smoke that covered the figure, but anyone could make out that it's something ominous.
Its aura alone tells them that this person was dangerous. The darkness looming around it, and the killing intent it gives off was beyond reason.
"Something like Angin's" Elliot whispered to himself.
Just after Elliot spoke the words, the figure's true form was unveiled. Everyone was shocked after they saw a humanoid beetle walking out of the dust smoke. It was twitching as it took its step closer to Elliot.
Before it reached the boy, his three friends went in front of him. They brandished their weapons and raised it agaisnt the creature.
"Move," the creature said with a sharp and high-pitched voice. "Step away from that woman."
"Who are you and what do you want?" Lance asked, igniting his blades with his black and white aura.
The creature sighed, "I am the Earth Master. And right in that boy's arms is a Crystal Maiden."
