I have a wildlife zoo

Chapter 222 Straight to Ring-Tailed Lemur Island!

"Humph," Su Hui appeared somewhat unhappy as she complained, "What's so fun about a zoo that we have to get here this early? It would be better to sleep in a bit longer, wake up later, go shopping, and watch a movie."

Seeing Su Hui dissatisfied, Yan Ganghui's heart suddenly panicked!

If he could, he wouldn't have wanted to get up so early, either. Working overtime was exhausting; he would've preferred to spend the whole holiday sleeping.

But before coming to the zoo, he had consulted with Zhou Ke, who told him that it was best to come early during the National Holiday.

One reason to arrive early was that there were fewer people, making the visit more comfortable. Another reason was that the new Lemur Island had just opened, and in the morning you could witness the wonderful scene of ring-tailed lemurs basking in the sun. There was even a chance to get onto Lemur Island to play!

The opportunity to visit ring-tailed lemur island was rare, only available during holidays or special events in limited numbers. Even if you were willing to spend money, there was nowhere to spend it.

The method of securing a spot on the island was for an animal keeper to shout out a call to gather, and although it seemed random, there was a certain pattern to it.

The times were between 9 and 10 in the morning and after 5 in the afternoon!

These periods were close to the zoo's opening and closing times when there were relatively fewer visitors. After all, most visitors came to see animals, not other people, and the exhibition spaces were designed to prevent visitors at different viewing points from seeing each other as much as possible.

This was insider information that wasn't even mentioned in the public notices.

It was for this reason that he dragged his girlfriend to come early.

Little did he expect that his attempt to curry favor would backfire!

He quickly tried to soothe her, saying, "My dear, this zoo is really awesome, not like those ordinary zoos. I'm telling you, the environment inside is really great…"

Then, lowering his voice, he whispered, "And I have a buddy who works here. If you follow me on the tour, there will definitely be a surprise, okay?"

Su Hui, half-doubtful, replied, "Fine, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time."

After buying the tickets, they entered the zoo!

Su Hui looked at the peafowl with their graceful figures leisurely strolling on the lawn, and her mood unconsciously relaxed as she expressed her surprise, "This zoo's environment is not bad at all!"

Many tourists were snapping photos in amazement!

All were either new tourists or regulars who had brought their family and children today, all laughing and looking on happily.

Old Zhang's grandson, who appeared quite reserved and shy outside the zoo, was now jumping and hopping excitedly, constantly calling out to the peafowl, "Peafowl, peafowl!"

The peafowl here were well-adapted to the enthusiastic shouts of the visitors.

They still strolled leisurely, at ease with their surroundings.

Other seasoned visitors continued walking straight ahead, eager to see the new exhibits, since the peafowl were usually the first animals seen on each visit, and they were quite familiar with them by now.

If it had been green peafowl, perhaps they would have stopped and observed more closely!

"How about that? Not bad, right?"

"Yeah, the ticket is only 30, so cheap. I thought the inside would be rather shabby!" said Su Hui, a bit embarrassed.

"Hey, am I a cheapskate? Don't worry about the ticket price; even if it were 300, what's the big deal? As long as we have fun, that's what matters," he boasted.

Yan Ganghui's suspended heart settled a bit, a smile spread across his face, and he couldn't help but show off, "You see, the Peafowl Lawn is quite nice, right? But actually, this is just the appetizer! Let me tell you, the really fun stuff is still to come."

Just then a tour bus painted with red pandas came by, and seeing passengers getting on, they followed suit.

The tour bus moved slowly past the bamboo forest, and when it reached the front of Primate Paradise, the two of them got off.

"Wow!"

From a distance, when Su Hui saw ring-tailed lemur island, her eyes lit up and she couldn't help but exclaim, "This place is really beautiful!"

Yan Ganghui also forgot his own boasts. The environment didn't need his hype at all. He marveled, "Goodness, this island must have cost a pretty penny to construct? It's so worth the visit!"

The ground of this area was made of wooden boards, not the delicate kind one would have at home, but the rough boards that fit the image of a traditional port, pieced together in shades of brownish-red. In front of them lay a broad, beautiful expanse of water, with nodding reeds and lush green lotus leaves floating on the surface.

On the bank, there was a black wooden pillar, to which a bamboo raft was tied. They couldn't shake the illusion that they were in a little harbor!

Across on the earthy-yellow island, there were many plants growing twisted and bent, just like cacti in the desert, and large, odd trees with thick, robust trunks shaped like white radishes, all lending a unique exotic charm to the scene.

"That must be an African baobab, right?" Yan Ganghui said uncertainly. He seemed to remember seeing them in documentaries when he was a child. He couldn't recognize many common city trees, but the African baobab was too famous and had distinct features that grabbed attention.

The entire island's environment was arranged very naturally and harmoniously! It was clear a lot of effort and money had been invested.

Surprised, Su Hui exclaimed, "When I heard 'ring-tailed lemur island,' I had no idea what to expect!"Nôv(el)B\\jnn

What first came to her mind was the lawn and trees by her house, with a few monkeys jumping about in the treetops and a small water ditch outside. The beauty and exotic charm of this island far exceeded her expectations!

Faced with such an environment, their first reaction, of course, was to take photos.

Using the island as a backdrop, Yan Ganghui "click, click" took two pictures of Su Hui, and then the two of them raised their cameras high for some selfies, beaming with joy.

Looking at the photos, Su Hui giggled, "Hey, what if we post these pictures on our social media and tell everyone we went abroad for a holiday vacation during National Day? Would anyone believe it?"

Yan Ganghui pondered for a moment, "That... might actually work! But it's too soon for that. Wait a day before posting to make it more believable."

"Wow, ring-tailed lemurs!"

Nearby tourists let out exclamations, and the two quickly looked toward the island.

They saw ring-tailed lemurs emerge from a passageway on the side of the exhibit, their black and white cheeks bearing keen eyes that seemed lively, calling out "woo-woo" twice as if to beckon companions.

They ran one after another along a meandering tree trunk that spanned the water, their bodies undulating and their long tails marked with black and white rings swaying behind them, like fluttering ribbons.

Others seemed to prefer the aerial paths, perching on higher wooden platforms and with a squat, "swooshed" through the air with agility, grabbing a horizontal bar of a pole planted in the water.

Their movements flowed seamlessly as they bounced onto the middle platform, and then, with another leap, quickly covered a great distance, gracefully arcing through the air to land on an imli tree on the island, disappearing into the leaves.

The whole jumping process was over in a matter of seconds!

The tourists were dumbstruck until after the ring-tailed lemurs had vanished, then bursts of amazement broke out, "My gosh, awesome!"

"Goodness, such agility!"

Excited, Su Hui tugged on Yan Ganghui's sleeve, "Whoa, did you see that! That was at least a 6- or 7-meter jump, and they made it in one go!"

"Yeah, I just caught it on camera! Pretty impressive, huh!"
