I Hate You, Devil!

Chapter 151 Little Secre

Chapter 151 Little Secre

The living room was completely quiet and nothing could be heard except for the occasional sound of pages being flipped over.

Yu Chen was sitting in a relaxed position while examining some contracts Gu Jinyang had brought for him to see. His mood was also unusually pleasant and his face was brimming with satisfaction. However, it seemed like there was something distracting him.

"Uhm... boss, wait." Gu Jinyang, who was standing right next to him, interrupted Yu Chen when he was about to sign a document.

"What?" Yu Chen asked and the man sighed.

"There’s an error here." He pointed out and all Yu Chen could reply was, "Oh."

Gu Jinyang knew how Yu Chen worked. He would always catch any mistakes and flaws, so how the hell did he not catch that obvious error this time? There was only one reason Gu Jinyang could think of – this man was really so damned distracted and he was certain that the reason behind this was none other than his dear fiancée, Luo Xiaolei.

"Boss, please concentrate. I have to bring everything back before noon." He reminded and Yu Chen pinched the skin between his brows. He sighed and gladly, he was able to refocus and work flawlessly again as he always did.

Time ticked by and Gu Jinyang’s phone vibrated. He answered the phone as the person calling was the creative director of their company’s advertising department. The director talked about an important endorsement ad that the Yu Empire’s newly acquired subsidiary was working on. The director said that the artiste they chose to be the new ambassador wanted triple the fee they offered her as a condition.

Gu Jinyang frowned upon hearing the artist’s ridiculous request and told the director to keep everything on hold for now because he would discuss about the matter with their CEO first.

"Boss, the artiste wants to triple the fee. This woman is ridiculous." Gu Jinyang said. Yu Chen didn’t even hesitate and told him to look for someone else.

The artiste the advertising department chose was the highest paid singer in the country at the moment, Linlin. Since the ad producer wanted a famous singer to be the ambassador and Linlin seemed to be the best choice, the company chose her. But this singer was thinking too highly of herself!

"Foolish woman. Who does she think she is? It’s not like she’s the best singer out there! She just happened to have such talented producers." Gu Jinyang sighed. He just couldn’t understand how much of a fool this woman was to let such a huge opportunity to work for a giant company slip through her hands because of her greed.

Shaking his head, Gu Jinyang browsed the long list of influential singers the director showed him before. Since Yu Chen always left these kinds of matters to him, especially choosing the suitable celebrities, Gu Jinyang didn’t ask Yu Chen’s opinion on who should he choose this time.

When Yu Chen was done signing everything, he finally lifted his face.

"You still can’t choose?" Yu Chen asked upon seeing that Gu Jinyang was still looking at the list with a troubled expression.

"I can’t seem to find anyone that is above that Linlin." He complained and Yu Chen leisurely leaned back on the sofa.

His eyes then fell on the page Gu Jinyang was looking at and one thing immediately caught his attention. The page Gu Jinyang was checking was the last one and it contained eight more singers. Each profile had the most important information written below their picture but one particular profile had the least information written on it and the girl was even wearing a black masquerade mask in her photo, hiding half of her face.

Seeing it, Yu Chen’s brows knotted.

"Xiao Mimi..." he suddenly uttered and Gu Jinyang snapped towards him. "Doesn’t she have any other photos?"

"Oh... ah, this one?" Gu Jinyang was also puzzled. He didn’t even bother paying attention to this particular singer because of the lack of information about her. "I think this Xiao Mimi is not even famous at all. I don’t remember her face. I don’t know why the director include her in the list."

As soon as Gu Jinyang’s voice died down, a man who was still sulking by the entrance door, suddenly rushed towards them and began bombarding his brother with words.

"What are you saying, big bro?! My Xiao Mimi is not famous?! Ugh! You don’t know anything!" Gu Wei was shaking his head as he wrapped an arm around his brother’s shoulder.

"Let me tell you a piece of information about this lady you’re saying is NOT FAMOUS." He started. His expression now looked akin to a diehard fan who was about to start defending his idol til the end of the world. "Yes, this baby girl never won a music award nor does she have a booming, diva voice. Her first and last album was released almost two years ago and it was only a mini album. Since then, she only released two singles up to this date including her very latest one that she released just days ago. And yet... and yet my big brother, this baby girl has the most monthly listeners on the streaming services! She even beat a lot of active singers and became one of the most streamed artists despite having only seven songs! I’m telling you bro, her strange success extends beyond music as well. She’s currently the country’s second most followed singer on social media, you know, despite her only posting a total of EIGHT photos since she created her account. Can you explain that? And you are saying she’s not famous? You’re so cruel! T^T"

Gu Jinyang could only blink in silence at hearing the sudden outburst of this younger brother of his. And what shocked him the most was that he knew so much about a certain celebrity? When did this man even start becoming some singer’s fan?!

"And it’s not even over yet big bro! She also held one of the most liked photo on social media and you know what kind of photo it was?" he pointed her masked photo in her profile. "This one, this masked photo of hers gathered millions of likes. Do you know why? Because this Xiao Mimi is living her name which is ’little secret’ and she never revealed her face. That masked photo was the only photo of herself that she ever revealed and nobody has seen her face at all. And yet... look how famous she is. She is on par with the active long-standing singers and every single one of her seven songs are just so good and timeless that some of them are still up there in the charts!!"

When Gu Wei was done, he was already panting. Gu Jinyang was speechless but the man across them had an unexpected reaction. A flicker of interest suddenly glimmered in his eyes.

"Little Secret, huh..." he muttered and the Gu siblings head snapped towards him.
