Gangster System: I Will Become The Greatest Gangster!

Chapter 92 Break In Attempt

Seeing how much of a burden Connor and Xavier had taken upon themselves, Maria was glad that she could ease it by taking care of the triplets.

But she would have done that regardless since they filled a void in her heart that she had never been able to fill.

She had never been able to show Xavier tender love ever since he was young, as even when she did, despite him receiving it, she knew he didn't need it.

He was such a tough and independent man at such a young age that she felt as though she never had the opportunity to raise him or her...

But now that changed with the triplets, who also seemed to be lacking that care.

However, it still wasn't enough and she couldn't just sit around as her son and Connor took care of everything else, so she took it upon herself to look for a job.

One that she could work while the triplets were at school and earn some extra cash from.

And with that in mind, she finally felt like a truly responsible mother as she smiled to herself and gave the three triplets that sat around her an affectionate hug.

-

Meanwhile, during the time that Connor had spent with Maria and his sisters, Xavier hadn't just sat around but also couldn't get started with what he had in mind straight away.

He had planned most of what he wanted to get done, but in order to get started and make the entire process much more efficient, he needed a lot of help from Zack.

But it was too early to knock for Zack and he also didn't want to wake up his grandma, so he decided to jog around the neighbourhood while he waited.

He was stuffed after eating breakfast with Connor and thought that some light jogging would help him digest, and would be a good way to get his day started and keep up his fitness.

However, even he couldn't help but be amazed by how easy it was to jog for an hour.

He had barely broken a sweat and hadn't struggled much at all.

To be fair, it was merely a light jog to loosen up, and he ran pretty slowly, but there aren't many that would be able to keep up a consistent speed of jogging for an hour.

But the reason behind the progress in his stamina wasn't just the improvements in his physique.

It was also due to how much his knowledge and understanding of his own body had expanded.

Being able to control his breathing and also minimise the wastage of energy so that he could achieve as close to his peak performance as possible, Xavier learnt more about himself from the simplest of things.

Always seeking the next level, it was to be expected that such an ambitious individual would continue to learn and improve.

And going on to stretch, implementing new stretches that he had thought of or seen from others back in the dojo, Xavier made sure not to neglect his flexibility.

The more muscle he put on, the harder it would be to maintain his flexibility, but he was by no means striving to be a gymnast.

He merely wanted to maintain a level of flexibility that would aid his combat ability, and after he was finished, he headed to Zack's house.

-

Checking the time, it was still quite early, but he was pretty sure that Zack would be awake since it was a school morning for him.

But peeking in through his living room window, he spotted Zack's grandmother sleeping, and Xavier didn't want to wake her up by knocking.

So instead, he called Zack's phone, but even after calling a few times, he didn't pick up.

'That asshole. Is he ignoring my calls?'

Frustrated that Zack wasn't answering the phone no matter how many times he called his phone, Xavier felt like kicking down the door to his house, but he pitied the frail old lady that was sleeping, so tried something else.

He picked up small rocks, and with expert precision, threw them at Zack's window, but there was still no response and Xavier was starting to lose his patience.

'There must be another way to get in,' he thought to himself.

Of course, Xavier didn't want to break anything in order to get inside, and although he could just wait outside a while, that wasn't his style, and he wanted to have some fun and surprise Zack.

Not finding an obvious or simple way of getting in, Xavier liked the challenge and spotted that a window upstairs hadn't been closed fully and if he managed to pry it open, it would be big enough for him to fit through.

However, getting there would be an issue, as the pipes alongside the old house appeared to be quite frail.

If he attempted to climb up them, he was pretty sure they'd fall apart, causing Zack and his grandmother a lot of unnecessary trouble.

Instead, he decided to do something even crazier.

There was a wooden fence that bordered the small old-fashioned home, and it seemed sturdy enough to support Xavier's weight.

Planning to use that fence to boost himself up to the window that was on the second floor and at least a couple of metres too far for him to reach normally, one would think he was out of his mind.

But playing out how it would go in his mind, it was possible if he got the timing right.

However, just like most things, it was easier to imagine doing it than actually doing it...

-

Getting a run-up of around 10 metres, which was enough to generate adequate speed, but not too much that he lost control or tired himself out, Xavier burst towards the fence as fast as he could.

And when he was a metre or so away from the fence, he sprung up into the air and, as soon as he landed on the fence, attempted to burst up into the air towards Zack's home.

Putting his arm out to latch onto the window that he was aiming for, Xavier fell short by a matter of inches and had also underestimated just how much forward momentum there would be.

Slamming into the side of Zack's house, causing a loud thud, he then fell to the ground.

Breaking his fall with a roll, his body was still rattled slightly by the impact, and his side was sore after bashing into the side of Zack's house.

And yet he didn't seem fazed in the slightest.

-

If Xavier wasn't skilled in rolling through both watching and practising judo, and he didn't have a sturdy physique, that fall could have dealt him some serious damage.

However, Xavier merely shook it off as he got up and prepared to attempt to grab onto the window a second time.

But he was pretty sure that his slamming into the side of Zack's house had woken him up, so if he wanted to be able to surprise him by appearing in his house, he had to be quick.

So, after taking a moment to understand where he fell short during his previous attempt and mentally imagining the small changes he would make in his movements, Xavier took a deep breath before going for it.
