Devil’s Music

Chapter 394: Small Connection

"I will personally apologize to Kay. Please let's conclude this matter within reasonable limits, Director…”

Changhan Kim, whose tone had changed, knelt down, placing his hands on his thighs and bowing his head.

Yong-wook Lee and Soo-jeong also knelt and bowed their heads asking for forgiveness, but Lynn remained silent. As the scheduled time for the press conference Lynn had mentioned approached, Changhan became increasingly anxious and crawled on his knees towards Lynn, bowing his head again.

"I will fire everyone involved in this matter, and have them all kneel before Kay. I will also offer compensation up to two billion won, even if it means emptying my own savings!”

Lynn, who was wearing a skirt, looked disdainfully at Changhan, who approached her without manners and knelt before her.

"Compensation is not necessary."

Lynn stood by the window in her high heels, arms crossed, looking out. Changhan, unable to wait for her to speak, cried out again.

"Then, what should I offer you! Please, tell me!”

After making an espresso and smelling its aroma, Lynn took a leisurely sip of her coffee and looked coldly at the three people.

Seeing her gaze, the three bowed their heads at once, and Lynn slowly opened her mouth.

"If it had been someone other than Kay who had been ensnared by you, and if they had been affiliated with Fantagio, I would have completely destroyed you, pulling out even the roots of YDN."

Changhan shuddered under Lynn's chilling words.

Lynn, with a cold expression, took another sip of her coffee, her face slightly relaxing. She breathed deeply, containing her anger, and spoke in a calmer tone.

"However, it seems Kay does not desire that."

Changhan’s face brightened as if he had been granted a pardon.

"Then, will you cancel the press conference?"

Lynn looked at them as she placed her coffee cup on the desk.

"No, the press conference will proceed as planned."

The despair felt deeper when hopes were dashed. Changhan’s face crumbled as tears welled up in his eyes and his chin trembled.

"So, you will proceed with it…"

Lynn said nothing more and walked away, instructing Clara who was waiting.

"Follow me."

"Yes, Director."

As Lynn led the way, Clara helped the still kneeling trio to their feet and guided them to the parking lot. Clara stepped away to check the vehicle, during which Yong-wook quickly asked Changhan.

"What shall we do, CEO? If this continues, our company is doomed. It's not just anyone, it’s Kay, you know? A person with connections even to the President of the United States, the global media will tear us apart. We might handle it, but what about Soo-jeong? She can't even return to Korea. She'd be stoned to death as soon as she arrives.”

Soo-jeong shivered at Yong-wook's words. Changhan, looking at Clara approaching from a distance, said.

"There’s no way out. The video sent to us is definitely a copy, and surely copies have been saved in various places... Sigh, we’re finished.”

At Changhan's declaration of defeat, Yong-wook and Soo-jeong bowed their heads deeply. Changhan, with regretful eyes, looked at the ground.

"We need to keep a low profile and show an apologetic attitude to avoid the wrath of the angry public when we return to Korea."

"Yes, CEO."

As Clara opened the rear door of the Cadillac, she said.

"Please get in, the press conference venue is a convention hall 10 minutes from here."

The trio boarded the car with expressions like pigs being led to slaughter. Despite their hopes for time to slow down, the 10 minutes passed quickly, and they arrived at the grand hotel where journalists swarmed them.

However, the journalists quickly turned away upon realizing Lynn was not among them, leaving the three to trudge towards the convention hall.

The luxurious and opulent convention hall had over a thousand seats filled with journalists, who watched the trio enter.

The grand scale of the press conference weighed heavily on Changhan as he followed Clara to their seats, with Soo-jeong and Yong-wook sitting behind.

After a tense moment in the uncomfortable seats, the doors opened and Lynn entered, with photographers flashing their cameras at her.

Lynn, ignoring Changhan's desperate attempt to look more pitiful, walked to the podium at the center of the hall and scanned the journalists before addressing the microphone.

"Thank you, members of the press, for attending Fantagio's press conference despite your busy schedules."

After her greeting, the flash of cameras lit up again, and the sound of journalists typing filled the hall.

Taking a moment to breathe, Lynn looked at Changhan, who

seemed to have given up, sitting silently with his eyes closed. She then turned back to the journalists and began speaking.

"The reason we have invited you today is to make an important announcement, which also relates to Kay, who you are always curious about."

As Lynn declared what seemed like a death sentence, Changhan staggered to his feet. Soo-jeong and Yong-wook also bowed their heads and lined up with Changhan, prepared to bow deeply once Lynn finished speaking. The journalists turned their attention to the suddenly standing trio but quickly returned their focus to Lynn at the podium.

Lynn waited for the journalists' attention to return to her before continuing.

"Before you stand three representatives from the well-known Korean agency YDN Entertainment."

The journalists, lacking prior knowledge of YDN's activities within Korea, hurriedly started searching online, murmuring among themselves.

Despite their murmurs, the journalists were eager to report, guessing at Lynn's next words, but their searches yielded no links between Fantagio and YDN. As the murmuring subsided, Lynn spoke again.

"YDN Entertainment is a renowned agency in Korea, known for producing girl groups like Black Girls, B to C, and ATP."

At Lynn’s words, Changhan squeezed his eyes shut and trembled, realizing she intended to take down all the singers under YDN Entertainment.

Soo-jeong, hearing her own group ATP mentioned, silently apologized to the members waiting in Korea.

Seeing the trio appearing to have given up, Lynn raised her voice slightly for the journalists.

"And this November, the much-anticipated first studio album from Kay will be released!"

The sudden shift from introducing YDN Entertainment to announcing Kay's album puzzled the journalists, but they busily typed away, raising hands for questions.

"When in November? Do you have a specific date?"

Lynn, known for not responding to mid-speech questions, surprisingly pointed at the journalist and answered.

"The date is undecided. It will be announced towards the end of October."

Another journalist shouted, raising their hand.

"How many tracks are included in the studio album?"

"Four tracks. Next question?"

"Will Montana be involved? You have collaborated with them recently."

"Montana's Kevin, Shizuka Miyawaki, and Kiska Miochichi will be involved, and one of the tracks will feature Snap Dog and Neminem."

As the names of such renowned musicians were mentioned, the journalists buzzed loudly.

"Snap Dog and Neminem, you say?"

"Yes, and the track they are involved in will be produced by Doctor Brey."

The mention of Doctor Brey's name intensified the murmuring, with journalists even making calls.

Lynn, usually calming the conference when it became too noisy, strangely remained silent, watching the journalists. After a while, she asked.

"Any more questions?"

Several journalists raised their hands, but Lynn pointed to one—a German journalist who stood up and pointed at the three representatives of YDN Entertainment, who looked like criminals.

"Earlier, after introducing these three from YDN Entertainment of Korea, you moved on to Kay's studio album, breaking the context. Why are they here?"

Lynn looked at the trio and then began.

"There is a dance track in Kay’s upcoming album called 'Song of the Wind', and we have been studying music from Korea, known for its dance music."

As the journalists quietly focused on her words, Changhan, thinking his moment had come, stepped forward, preparing to bow.

Lynn looked coldly at the trio and then smiled at the journalists.

"Kay was deeply considering which musicians to feature. We saw potential in some Korean musicians, and we decided to recruit them into our company, but they were already debuted groups, which made it difficult."

Changhan's eyes widened, and he turned sharply to look at Lynn.

"The two musicians Kay discovered were Yoon-jung and Jin-yeon of YDN Entertainment. And here, CEO Changhan Kim has graciously agreed to transfer the singers to us for their future.

This was a commendable act, prioritizing the singers' careers over financial gains, and he deserves applause for putting the lives of the artists first.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank CEO Changhan Kim for thinking of the artists' lives over money."

As Lynn slowly clapped for Changhan, the journalists joined in. The applause, starting with a few, spread until someone stood and it became a full ovation. The journalists sincerely applauded a businessman who prioritized people over profit.

Surprised by the applause directed at them, the stunned trio stood dumbfounded as Lynn activated the presentation screen. It displayed the profiles of Yoon-jung and Jin-yeon, showing their beautiful and cute appearances.

The journalists incessantly flashed their cameras, announcing the debut of Kay's first Cinderella to the world.

As the flashes lit up endlessly, Changhan, who saw Geon in the back of the journalist section with his arms crossed and smiling kindly—a smile that should

have been filled with resentment—felt genuine tears streaming down his face.

Thinking they were moved by their applause, the journalists flashed their cameras at Changhan, who bowed deeply towards Geon.

Yong-wook and Soo-jeong, also spotting Geon and surprised, cried as they followed Changhan in a deep bow.
