Chapter 38

Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Meeting a real Mutant beast!

While the other representatives of the big four are too cocky to admit it, Alex wasn’t so short-sighted and dumb as them. They may try to deny it but the truth remains that there is more to this world than family secret arts and all that.

By the second year in the military academy, the recruits must have gone into the world beyond, defeated mutated beasts, brought back their cores, and remain to form their beast gears. Some are lucky enough to get two wolf-level mutated beasts while the experts are known to have about three beast gears on them at most.

Following the military academy laws, they are not allowed to use their family influence to acquire beast gears so how are they meant to compete with people of that level?

If the enemy has like one or two beast gears on them, they may be able to cope but should they cross those with three, their defeat is imminent! It is not something they can avoid!

“Amongst our peers we are invincible but outside that age group we are nothing special” Alex said calmly, making Silver frown but this was expected.

Such words would hurt the pride of any member of the big four but that doesn’t make it less true in any way.

“There is a lot to consider... The power boost beast gears give, even at the wolf level is far greater than what you think... we cannot win!” Alex said coldly.

.....

Hearing this Silver nodded in agreement but his facial expression still remained the same like it didn’t matter.

“That is why we are going to get our beast gears before the competition starts” Silver said calmly and Alex frowned.

Playing a virtual reality game where they fight against mutated beasts may be amazing and quite effective but it is far from the real thing!

“Did you think we are planning to enter the competition just to lose? We all have plans of winning... With our connections, we can get access to yellow zones where mostly wolf-level beasts are... The God set will join hands... The rich kid will probably hire someone to help him... You and I know the possibility of you winning against a mutant beast with your level of strength is roughly fifty-fifty... which is not safe...” Silver said.

“What about you?” Alex asked. He wasn’t stunned by the fact that the others would move on their own. What he failed to understand is why Silver never mentioned himself.

“I may not agree with a lot of things concerning the Ainsworth family but I do agree with one thing... We can survive without beast gears... Our creations will give birth to a new era where beast gears will no longer be needed... That is the path I wish to follow” Silver said with a rare stern look on his face.

Hearing this Alex could only nod and look away. He didn’t know whether this is a good idea or not but since Silver should be with him, it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

“By the way, since we are going into a dangerous zone with no cameras or footage, we should be able to see your full capabilities... there is no reason for you to hold back!” Silver tried to cheer Alex up.

In a few days, the duo stockpiled everything needed for the journey, including food water and a few clothes. They chose Baltimore as their location since it can be considered the closest to Washington Dc and it is only a yellow-level territory. The presence of hunters in these locations trying to get rid of all the mutated beasts is relatively high so the place should be the safest place they can get.

Driving the new black Voltz Z-25, it didn’t take long for the duo to reach the state. Their identity also made it easier for them to get past the military checkpoints and gain access to the state. As they moved their hatred for the new world was revived as they saw what those at the capital fail to see.

People living in uncompleted buildings, tents, dirty environments, and all that. The real world out there is not as dreamy as the government portrayed it to be. Seeing such a fancy car pass by, people stood and watched some walking closer but Silver didn’t bother stopping. He kept driving until he had left the populated areas of the country, diving into the danger zones without care.

“Bringing such an expensive car to a place like this... I hope you are ready to watch it get destroyed when the fighting begins?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.

As usual, he wore green military camo trousers with green boots and a black sleeveless shirt. He would have loved to wear a face mask but after creating the Scourge identity, he couldn’t do that anymore or risk revealing more than he should.

“I strongly believe it would be riskier leaving a car worth millions of dollars back there where the poor kids can play with it and their parents can rip it apart for money” Silver said while rolling his eyes.

“Millions of dollars? A car? What is it made of anyway?” Alex asked but then his face turned cold and he was forced to look ahead!

Bang!

From a building, a massive brown pitbull dog shot out with glowing white eyes. It was over six feet tall with saliva literarily pouring out of its mouth, giving it a disgusting look!

“A mutated dog? What the hell is this?” Silver said but before he could finish talking he realized that the door of the passenger seat was already open!

Bang!

Slamming his hand on the ground, Alex’s body was covered in rocks, turning his complexion brown! He rolled a couple of times before stopping and getting on his feet as if nothing happened.

“Take the car and get away a little bit... things are about to get ugly!” Alex said as he slowly approached the mutated dog while Silver backed away by reversing with the car.
