Chapter 325: Completing the Two Missions Part 1
Michael Reyes arrived at SM Aura early in the morning, the sun just beginning to cast its light over the sleek, modern facade of the mall. As he entered through the main doors, he was greeted by the familiar hum of shoppers and the bustling atmosphere of one of Manila's premier shopping destinations.
He made his way through the corridors, passing by various high-end stores and eateries, towards the area where his new ventures, EcoThreads and FreshBites, were under construction.
As Michael approached the construction site, he was met by the site manager, Mr. Cruz, who had been overseeing the progress of the stalls. "Good morning, Mr. Reyes," Mr. Cruz greeted him warmly. "We're making good progress.
Let me show you around."
Michael donned a hard hat provided by Mr. Cruz and followed him towards the first construction area. The stall for EcoThreads was already beginning to take shape. Workers were busy installing the framework, with metal studs forming the outline of what would soon be the walls of the store.
"We've completed the basic framing," Mr. Cruz explained. "Next, we'll be putting up the drywall and starting on the interior finishes."
Michael noticed a group of electricians working diligently to lay out the electrical wiring.
They moved towards the area where the fitting rooms would be located. Workers were measuring and cutting drywall, securing it to the metal framing. "Once the walls are up, we'll move on to the flooring," Mr. Cruz said. "We've chosen eco-friendly materials in line with the store's sustainable theme."
Michael nodded, pleased with the progress. "What about the displays and shelving?"
"We have a team working on those offsite," Mr. Cruz replied. "They're being custom-made to fit the store's design. We'll install them once the major construction work is done."
Next, they walked over to the area designated for FreshBites. The space was bustling with activity. Workers were laying down the foundation for the kitchen area, ensuring all plumbing and drainage were correctly installed.
"The kitchen is the heart of the restaurant," Mr. Cruz said. "We're making sure it's built to the highest standards for food safety and efficiency."
Michael watched as workers fitted stainless steel counters and began installing the large refrigeration units. "Once the kitchen is complete, we'll move on to the dining area," Mr. Cruz explained. "We've chosen a design that's both modern and inviting, with plenty of natural light and green accents to reflect the fresh and healthy theme of FreshBites."
In the dining area, Michael could see the framework for what would become a stylish and comfortable space for customers. Workers were installing large windows that would allow natural light to flood the area, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. "We're also working on the ventilation and air conditioning systems to ensure a comfortable environment for both customers and staff," Mr. Cruz added.
As they walked back towards the entrance, Michael could feel that the mission was nearing its completion. It is all going to be worth it as he paid an almost insignificant amount of money to lease the space.
To give you an idea on how much renting a space in SM Aura, it's quite significant. Leasing a prime spot in one of the busiest malls in Manila can range from several hundred thousand to millions of pesos annually, depending on the size and location of the space.
As Michael and Mr. Cruz continued their tour, they discussed the next steps and timelines. "We're aiming to complete the construction within the next few weeks," Mr. Cruz said. "After that, we'll move on to the final touches and the installation of displays and equipment."
Michael nodded. "That sounds good. I want to make sure we're ready for a soft opening before the grand launch. This will give us a chance to work out any kinks and make sure everything runs smoothly."
Mr. Cruz agreed. "Absolutely, Mr. Reyes. We'll ensure everything is in top shape for the soft opening."
They continued their tour, discussing various details about the finishing touches for both EcoThreads and FreshBites. Michael wanted to ensure that both ventures not only met his high standards but also provided an excellent experience for customers.
After the tour, Michael returned to his office, where his team was already hard at work. Bridget was on a call with the marketing team, Juliet was finalizing supplier agreements, and Antoinette was reviewing the latest financial projections.
"Morning, everyone," Michael greeted as he entered the office. "I just came back from the site visit. Things are progressing well, and Mr. Cruz assured me we're on track for our timelines."
Bridget looked up from her call and smiled. "That's great to hear, Michael. I've been coordinating with the marketing team. We're planning some exciting promotional activities for both the soft and grand openings."
"Excellent," Michael said. "Juliet, how are the supplier agreements coming along?"
Juliet nodded. "We've finalized agreements with all the key suppliers. The organic farm for FreshBites is ready to deliver fresh produce, and the eco-friendly fabric suppliers for EcoThreads are prepared to start shipping materials next week."
"That's perfect. Antoinette, any updates on the financial front?" Michael asked.
Antoinette adjusted her glasses and looked up from her laptop. "We're within budget for both projects. I've also prepared a detailed financial plan for the first six months of operation, including projections for revenue and expenses."
"Great work, everyone," Michael said, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction. "Let's keep up the momentum. I want to ensure we're fully prepared for both the soft and grand openings."

July 5th 2029.
Michael Reyes arrived at SM Aura early in the morning, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation. Today was the soft opening of FreshBites, and he couldn't wait to see the culmination of their hard work come to life.
As Michael approached the location of FreshBites, he was greeted by the sight of hundreds of people lining up outside the stall. The vibrant, fresh design of the restaurant stood out, with its bright greens and oranges creating an inviting atmosphere. The large sign above the entrance proudly displayed the FreshBites logo.
Bridget was waiting for him near the entrance, a broad smile on her face. "Michael, this is incredible! Look at the turnout!"
Michael smiled back, his heart swelling with pride. "It's amazing, Bridget. It looks like all our hard work is paying off."
They walked inside, where the staff was busy with final preparations. Chefs and kitchen staff working efficiently to ensure everything was ready for the first customers. The dining area was set up with plenty of seating, large windows letting in natural light.
Juliet approached Michael with a clipboard in hand. "We're all set, Michael. The suppliers delivered fresh produce early this morning, and the staff is ready. The first batch of food is already being prepared."
"Okay…let's get this going."
