Chapter 195: Nature of Obsession
[: Daniel POV :]
"That's right! Nothing is ever enough!"
Red suddenly erupted into laughter, the sound echoing with a hint of both amusement and recognition.
It was as if he had stumbled upon an unusual soul that resonated with the echoes of his own past.
"You remind me of my old days, and I like your greediness. Perhaps, Grid would like you,"
He remarked, hinting at Grid being one of the identities of the Four Demonian Kings.
"Well, since you're the person inheriting my powers, then I won't have any complaints. It'll be hard to find another species like yourself,"
He mused, gazing at me with a mix of disbelief and contemplation.
The air in the otherworldly realm seemed to resonate with the acknowledgement of a shared trait, one that defied the boundaries of normality.
"Hopefully, you could retrieve the remaining two Forbidden King Fruits, and who knows what the result holds for you,"
Red said, his words laced with a mysterious smile that heightened my curiosity about the rewards awaiting me upon completing the quest.
As I pondered the potential rewards, a sense of anticipation and intrigue enveloped me.
What secrets were concealed within the remaining Forbidden King Fruits, and how would their consumption shape the trajectory of my newfound powers?
Only time held the answers to these questions.
"But, can you deliver one last message from me to the goddess Antheia?"
Red requested, and just like Sun had asked before, I found myself unable to decline their final wishes.
The weight of these parting messages added emotional depth to the quest.
For they who were locked within these fruits, forever sealed without any chance of a way out, the least I could do for them before acquiring their powers is to accept their final will.
"What can I do?"
I questioned, a sense of helplessness tinting my words.
Red, in response, softened his smile, a mixture of sadness and yearning to play across his features.
Gazing at me, he uttered, "Tell that stupid obsessive goddess not to miss me that much, and she should take care of herself rather than worry about a dead figure."
His words held an emotional weight. Despite his love for her, he still didn't want to admit it through his words.
"Alright. Those words, I'll make sure to deliver to her, and you can rest assured,"
I reassured him, my voice carrying a comforting tone.
As his figure began to fade into red essences, he muttered his last words.
"Thanks... and I hope you will achieve what you wanted," were his parting words, a wish imbued with the essence of hopes and aspirations.
The air in the otherworldly realm held a bittersweet atmosphere as his remaining essences began to fuse within my body, marking the conclusion of the encounter with Red and the incorporation of his formidable powers into my own.
[: Congratulations, you have acquired the power of Red from the Forbidden King Fruit :]
[: You have acquired the power of Berserk of Wrath (Mythic) :]

Looking at the information, a delighted smile spread across my face, and with two Forbidden King Fruits in my hands, I found myself momentarily speechless.
The realization of the potential within these fruits filled me with a sense of awe and anticipation.
The effects of the fruits had the power to drastically alter any given situation. W
While the array of skills, bloodlines, and classes at my disposal was already formidable, the unpredictable nature of encounters with powerful beings, such as the Goddesses or those who had bestowed blessings upon me, always caused me worry.
The Forbidden King Fruits became not just a source of power but a strategic advantage, a trump card that could tip the scales in unforeseen circumstances.
Nevertheless, once the fusion and inheritance were over, I found myself back in the room where both Saintesses awaited.
However, as my eyes rested upon the Saintess of Nature, a subtle change in demeanour caught my attention.
I suspected that the goddess herself had temporarily taken control of her earthly vessel.
Moreover, as I gazed into her eyes, I sensed a heavy emotion brewing within them.
The colour of her eyes seemed to shimmer with an intensity that hinted at a surge of emotions.
It was as if the goddess's influence had brought forth a depth of feelings, perhaps even an obsessive love, that transcended the usual composure of the Saintess.
The air in the room held a charge of anticipation, signalling that the fusion had not only altered the physical aspects but had also stirred the emotions and essence within the Saintess of Nature.
"Red..."
She muttered, her voice filled with both longing and yearning.
Despite her current demeanour, I felt compelled to deliver the words that Red would want her to hear.
"I don't know whether you can deliver these words, but Red had said his last words for your Goddess to hear,"
I conveyed, maintaining eye contact with her.
"What... is... it?"
She questioned, her fist clenched, and her body trembled.
It became evident that mentioning Red's name had triggered a profound effect on her.
"He told me that the goddess should take care of herself more and shouldn't worry about him, and he misses you quite dearly,"
I delivered, and in the next few seconds, the Saintess broke down into tears.
The weight of Red's message had pierced through the layers of composure, revealing a torrent of emotions—love, longing, and a sense of loss.
The room, once serene, now echoed with the sounds of her sorrow, a proof to the depth of the connection between the Goddess and Red.
As the Saintess of Nature broke down, she kept muttering Red's name, and it reminded me of how Katie had reacted.
Time passed by, and her emerald eyes began to darken.
She looked at me and said, "You're Red!".
It felt like she was desperate to find her ways to overcome her emotions for Red and she had decided to turn to me.
''Sigh, Saintess...I'm not Red'' I took her hand and tried to comfort her, but that had made the situation even worse.
Despite my attempts to decline that I was not, she insisted, "You have his essence, so you're Red, and you're mine!"
Without any hesitation, she pulled me into an embrace, creating an enchanting forest within the confines of the room.
The ethereal realm of the forest unfolded around us as if her emotions had manifested into the very fabric of the environment.
The fragrant scent of blossoms filled the air, and the soft rustle of leaves created a soothing melody.
"I'm not Red, but I understand your pain,"
I tried to console her, but she held onto the notion that I embodied the essence of the fallen king.
"You have his essence. I can feel it,"
She insisted, her voice carrying a mix of desperation and possessiveness.
The forest around us seemed to respond to her emotions, flourishing with a vibrant life that mirrored the tumultuous state of her heart.
As the embrace continued, she whispered, "Don't leave me, Red. I've missed you so much."
The lines between reality and the manifestation of her emotions blurred, and for that moment, I became a vessel for the memories and essence of Red, providing solace to the grieving Saintess of Nature.
However, her demeanour took a sudden turn.
The once gentle embrace tightened, and the ambient atmosphere of the forest transformed.
The vines and branches twisted with almost violent energy, encapsulating a sense of possessiveness and obsession that now emanated from the Saintess.
"You can't leave me, Red! You're mine, and you'll stay with me forever,"
She declared, her eyes gleaming with a fervour that bordered on the edge of madness.
The forest, once a tranquil manifestation of her emotions, now seemed to echo her tumultuous state of mind, taking on a more sinister quality.

I exclaimed, feeling the intensity of her grip and the unsettling shift in her demeanour.
The atmosphere became charged with ominous energy, leaving the room on the precipice of a suspenseful climax, uncertain of what would transpire next in the wake of the Saintess's spiralling.
I tried to escape from her embrace and the vines that had surrounded me, but it was all useless.
Moreover, there was a different energy that was emanating from her and I suspected that it belonged to the Goddess.
Could it be that the same thing happened to me with Katie was exactly about to happen again with her?
What the hell is this?!
What the hell is wrong with these Goddesses!?
At this point, I couldn't help but thought that all of the Goddesses were just obsessive beings that wouldn't let go of the things they had find interest in.
