Chapter 80
80 Ch. 80 Why Did He Care For Me?
“Do you like it?”
Anxia tried to calm her wild heartbeat and shifted her eyes lower, only to find muscular hands snaked around her slender waist. As she had expected, Richard would not be able to keep his hands to himself if Anxia had followed him here. But because she could see such an eye-pleasing sight and be in an extremely good mood, Anxia didn’t struggle and let her husband hug her from behind.
“I like it. This place is truly amazing.”
Richard didn’t answer but gave her a seductive kiss on her earlobe, making Anxia struggle.
“You said you wouldn’t attack me.”
“I didn’t attack you. I just got carried away.”
Anxia rolled her eyes lazily, hearing her husband’s reasoning.
“Don’t expect me to get carried away like you. I’m still waiting for an explanation from you.”
“What kind of explanation do you want?” the man asked back instead of directly giving out what Anxia wanted.
.....
“How did you save Meng Meng?”
“I asked someone for help.”
Anxia snorted sarcastically at that. At first, she thought that Richard had saved Meng Meng himself, but it turned out that someone else had saved her. She should’ve known.
Come to think of it, Richard was with her almost twenty-four hours every day. They only didn’t see each other when they slept at night, so there was no way the man had sneaked out to save Ling Meng.
Even if Richard had managed to sneak out, he would have had no way of returning home unharmed.
No one ever made it out of Master Yu’s headquarters unscathed. But Richard was perfectly uninjured, and there was no hint of painful expression on his face. As a result, Anxia instantly believed that someone else was out there who had saved her friend.
Knowing this, Anxia couldn’t help but be curious about that person’s identity. Who would have dared to infiltrate Master Yu’s headquarters and make himself the enemy of the most ruthless man in Hong Kong?
Even though they didn’t need to fear Master Yu as long as they were in a foreign country, their names were still recorded in the blacklist book of those that Master Yu wanted to kill.
Therefore Anxia became very curious about the identity of this person.
“Who?”
“Just someone.”
“Just someone? Certainly not a coward for making Master Yu his enemy. After all, I know what kind of security that rotten man has. How did your acquaintances break through his defenses?”
“Why do I get the feeling you are interrogating me?” again, Richard answered his wife’s question with a question.
“Hhhh...” Anxia let out a long breath, knowing Richard was deliberately wasting time for reasons she didn’t know. “What should I do so you can directly answer my question without beating around the bush?” Anxia decided to strike straight away because she didn’t have much patience.
It would be better if she could get him to give her the answer she wanted by offering him something he yearned for.
“What do you mean?” still with his chin on her shoulder, Richard asked while tilting his head to the right.
“What do you want me to do so you don’t delay the answer I want to hear? I will do anything.”
“Anything?”
Anxia glanced sarcastically at her husband. She was indeed willing to do anything as long as he gave her proof that Ling Meng was fine.
But...
What if that man wants her body? Will she be able to grant this request?
“Anything.” Finally, Anxia decided not to hesitate and agreed to his offer. After all, they had done it once, and she could do it again without revealing her real emotions.
After all, she was in this position because of her fault in the first place.
“Then I need you to do one thing for me.”
“What’s that?” Anxia had prepared herself in case the man asked for sex from her, considering how lustful this man could be.
“I want you to believe me. That means the next time you encounter a threatening situation like that letter, I wish you to tell me and let me help you.”
“...”
“I want to be the first person you look for to help you. I want to be there when you are in trouble and pamper you and give you whatever is best for your happiness. Above all, I want you to rely on me.”
Qiao Anxia didn’t know why but felt something like a rope binding her heart, making it hard for her to breathe. She didn’t know why her heart was beating abnormally, as if she had been running for dear life.
Anxia broke away from her husband’s embrace only to turn around to see his husband’s face. She looked straight into Richard’s pair of brown eyes while searching for traces of lies or jokes.
But she found nothing. There was no light of mischief, theatrics, or intent to deceive her. Instead, Anxia saw the sincerity in those pair of brown eyes.
“Why?” Anxia didn’t even realize she asked in a hoarse voice because suddenly her throat felt dry.
“So what else? I don’t want you to be in any danger.”
“That’s not what I’m asking. Why don’t you want me to be in danger? I have been close to danger for most of my life, and death has often visited me. But why do you want to protect me? Why do you want me to spoil me?”
Anxia didn’t understand why this man wanted to give her happiness. She knew Richard wanted to give their daughter a good life full of laughs because she knew Richard adored and treasured Lori. She understood that he would like to dote on his baby daughter.
But she didn’t understand why this man was thinking about her happiness when Richard didn’t love her.
Anxia was even sure that Richard hated her because she had almost ruined his brother’s happy marriage. The possibility that Richard would care for her was non-existent in her mind, let alone the chance that Richard loved her.
Thus, Anxia was confused and curious.
